Your City/Town

Recommended Posts

I live in a sorta small city with a population of about 40,000. Its not in the middle of no where and is surrounded by other cities in the immediate vicinity. Its a middle class place foe the most part except a ghetto Compton-tier neighborhood on the southern part of the city. Its ok, not exciting by any means but that's one of the reasons I like it since nothing much goes on here. I guess what sets it apart is that Latinos make up more than 80 percent of the population. The second largest group there are oriental folk. I have only estimated like maybe 20 Caucasian people live here. Which is surprising given than whites where the majority back in the day....

Low crime rates but two of its high schools are really ghetto, which lead me to go to another high school in another town. Its not far from the metropolitan city, less than an hour's drive away. Feels like Spanish is the unofficial language too. I've only spoken English in school for the most part, alot of businesses here mainly speak Spanish.

I live in a completely average Northern English town called Lancaster. It's not too far from the sea, but the seaside town in question is grim af and the sea is just sewage water. I'm also scared my flat is gonna get flooded every time there's heavy rain, which is very often. The locals are all chavs with as few teeth as they have qualifications. The local 12-year-olds hang round outside McDonalds smoking and causing trouble, which is annoying when I want a McDonalds. Despite all that, though, I absolutely love it.

A village ye'd never have heard of near a town ye'd never have heard of in a county in the middle of Ireland. Like I can't really even say it's a village, just a relatively populated unstructured amalgamation of people with a church, a pub, a school, and a hotel nobody can afford to stay at. So that's that.

I live in a fairly small city (~200,000 people in the 3-city metro area), and I really like it. There's not that much to do, but I don't go out much so it doesn't bother me. There's a super low crime rate, people are usually nice, and it's easy to walk everywhere, which is cool. I don't want to live here my enitre life, certainly, but it's been a great place to grow up.

I live in Key West, Florida.

Literally the name itself is an explanation of what to expect. I love the place with all my heart and wouldn't change it for the world.

Lucky funk.

Grew up an hour west of Boston, now living there for school and hopefully afterwards for my adult working-y life. Lovely city (except in the winter) and I wouldn't have gone anywhere else. Problem is that cost of living may push me out further towards Western Mass, but... eh. As long as I'm in the New England area I think I'll be happy.

Waianae, Oahu, Hawaii. Didn't grow up here though. But according to a friend, the parts of Hawaii I grew up in are "more ghetto than the actual ghetto" (minus the guns).

Aside from the constant spousal abuse and drug use though, I love it.

I must live in a tamer part of Oʻahu, then.

For reference, I live in ʻEwa, which is about 21 or so miles east of Icy (as far as Google is concerned). It's mostly residential with a few schools and shopping centers (not like neighboring Waipahu/Kapolei). Also minimal violence, bar for some flare-ups here and there (and local high school fights prior to 2010; possibly a few random things).

Because most of my business is in Honolulu (school, social stuff, shopping centers), I generally have to take the bus (for school) to/from there, or drive. But otherwise, I like living here. (At the very least, there aren't too many homeless like downtown has lately)

----

P.S. Oahu and Oʻahu mean the exact same thing; latter is written as it appears in Hawaiian with the ʻokina (I have to do this because college is very particular about how you use words from the language).

This. He pretty much described all of the Republic of Ireland that isn't Cork, Dublin or Limerick.

Tijuana, Mexico.

The city is one of the main ports for crossing to the United States, so it is a rather active and crowded city in many bad and good ways.

It isn't all that pretty, but it is where I've always lived so not much to do about it.

I could make crappy comments about it all day long from how much I could say about it, but to be honest, my life in personal has always been a relatively peaceful one.

Some people might be more familiar with the name San Diego, which is what we have past the border. I travel all the time back and forth.

I live in a very small town (small as in I walk funking everywhere and it isn't even inconvenient) near Olympia, in Washington State. Well, I am actually closer to Lacey, but that's an Olympia suburb and I work in Olympia so who funking cares.

It's a farm/military town, and honestly it is a really nice place to be, but I am just much more suited to an urban life. Hopefully I can get an apartment in Olympia relatively soon.
