Just Got Back

Recommended Posts

I just got back intoplaying YuGiOh and i really wanto know whats happened. I left arround the time when that Zombie and Dragond deck came out. Now with the release of Phantom Darkness I want to maybe get back into this game. My question is, have the game balance been changed over the last few years, are cards with 2600-3000 still good for tribute monsters ands is 1800-2000 still the best for no tribue monsters?

also does anyone know how to create the best non themed deck, i have a bunch of cards and I have a deck ready with some small combo's and a general "have good allroundmonsters and some good allround Spell/traps" theme. As i notice that focusing your deck on one theme such as dragon/darkness/exodia etc. etc. often is very powerfull but its weak spots can be hurtfull to the player.

Also, can someone give me a link to the most used combo;s these days. the only combo that i can rember is the Mad Scientist/catapult turtle combo :p

The good cards right now are way overpowered by any standard.

Dark Armed Dragon, a 2800 ATK nomi monster, has a simple summoning condition and can instantly destroy 3 things on the field after being summoned. Decks revolving around Dark Armed Dragon are top currently.

Dark Magician of Chaos is also highly abusable currently. Endless draw loops are possible with Dimension Fusion and DMoC.

Diamond Dude Turbo, a deck in which the deck is quickly milled by Diamond Dude, Monster Gate, and Reasoning, also features DMoC, and is quite fast, though its not fast enough for Dark Armed Dragon.

Magical Explosion First Turn Kill is also a major threat. Using a string of cards, including Cyber Valley and DMoC, this deck draws out the entire deck until 3 Magical Explosion are in hand. Set them, and activate during the beginning of your opponent's next turn. Instant win.

So, the game isnt so exciting in the upper levels. Gadgets and Zombie Swarm decks are also close, but not good enough for DAD, DDT, MEFTK.

ATK rarely matters anymore, and strings of effects that generate plenty of drawing and summoning are where its at now.

thanks for the info. I really just play YuGiOh for the fun and I will doubt i will ever play near proffesional. Im not the type of guy that will buy specific cards just bcuz i want them, i just buy some boosters and use them and my old cards to create a deck.... If i really wanto ill buy some extras but ill stick to my old cards for now... Id love to have some cool combos but i dont have the $$$ to buy good cards

Dumping 3 Dark monsters in your grave with at least 1 DMoC, Summon DAD, remove the 3 to nuke, use DF/RFDD to get 3 monsters back, get 1 spell back from DMoC to nuke even more, attack with your monsters for game.

What I'm saying is, this game has changed very much. Either choose Meta or Anti-Meta, or lose the game before the third turn. If you want some good combo's, check out the Strategy Section, especially Crab's strategies, he found a Quick-Play Raigeki in this game (Although it's a 2 card combo, that's the problem). I don't think that 'allround' will do much in this game, but you can put many staples in whatever deck you want to create.

Of course, you can simply play with your friends who don't own DAD or anything scare, and stay away from the evil that's going on.

Oh, and a side note: Monster Reborn is unbanned now.

Sorry if i sound like a n00b sometimes, i last played Yu Gi Oh when i was like 11 and this is the first time for me to visit a Yu Gi Oh forum :p

yah i noticed monster reborn is back, ill out it back in my deck. And also, i dont know any pro;s and will probably never play one. I am currently considering buying some Phantom Darkness booster packs and combining those cards with my current deck to create something better.

Or shall i do something with my catapult turtle, i know there are some reasonably good Catapult Combos out there (certainly not as good as DAD, DDT, MEFTK, but atleast i already have Catapult Turtle)

Well, speed is everything, and D-Fusion/Return decks seem to be decent and fun to play with. Dark decks are okay if you want PTDN packs. Hamon decks are fun to play. Catapult Turtle has sorta lost most of it's OTKs to the banlist, so I wouldn't really suggest it. I think a semi-DDT build could be fairly cheap, if you replace MSE with Spell Reproduction, and add a few common removers, maybe Strike Ninja, or something. Just fun stuff to play, not competitive. Not crappy though. :P
