[MtG] [SOI] Daily Spoilers - Mar 22

Seems like we will be getting a cycle of madness X-spells, or at least a partial cycle. Judgment is a cheaper Rolling Thunder if you have a discard outlet so I see why it's rare. (Remember, you have to assign at least one damage to each target of the spell, so you can't use it as a mass heroic enabler unless you enjoy pinging your guys.)

And damn, Castigator is high risk, high reward. Seems to parallel Mindwrack Demon (4/5 flier for 4 with a big downside).

I still love my 13.

Nekusar gets a nice new toy.

I love the flavor of the captain. Also, nice to see more white transform cards. We didn't have many in original Innistrad.

Two rare fireballs feels weird. Want a better picture of Judgement either way.

Castigator is cool since it basically has 5 toughness. I think its better than demon.

My problem with Castigator is that your opponent can easily wreck you on the backswing with their attack. With Mindwrack, at least it's likely you'll have delirium enabled and won't be taking the damage. It'll be good to see whether haste is worth the extra risk.

Also, another card. And it uses the "Gisela" art, sigh. But great removal with all the Clues floating around.

Oh, funk me.

"[Remember] to have Jenrik research Markov Manor."

"Consider [this:] the shepherd turns on her flock. Why?"

"The symbols-When did [they] change?"

"With angels [came] mysteries."

"Their chanting grows louder [as] the tide rises."

"Fore every answer, [three] questions."

"You speak to me of the threat of Ulamog. But [do not forget: they came as three]."

So, was there something specific designating said words, or is this a tinfoil hat?

You have a point about the flavor text of the clues, but I feel if this were the solution, the wording would have actually matched.

I feel it should be noted that the symbol atop that staff is the same one as on the clue, indicating that it is indicative of Ormendahl, rather than whatever being is causing the madness.

This is just running under the assumption that the madness isn't caused by Ormendahl, on the ground he was spoiled relatively early, and that his card is not mythic rare.

Though... this then conflicts with the shells and sheet on the clue, which indicate it being related to the sea portal...

The symbol atop the staff is similar, but not the same. I think that indicates that the Westvale Skirsdag cult worshipping Ormendahl is not the same as the Nephalian sea god cult.

The similarity in symbols is interesting though. The similarities in symbol may be indicative of a global influence, or same root of inspiration.

Alright, folks. The culprit for whatever the hells are going on is indeed Nahiri, as confirmed by WotC, since I grabbed the above link from their site. The question now is, what in the nine hells is she doing.

No. Nahiri is the antagonist. That does not make her the cause of this at all.

I dont think Emrakul is going to be involved with the plot of SOI or EDM. But I do think the reference to the Eldrazi is important and purposeful. Why else would Jace go to Innistrad after having just defeated two of the Eldrazi Titans if not to look for clues on finding the third, or at least some method of killing her? I think the Gatewatch will either gain some new allies or some helpful info on fighting something so powerful.

Its pretty obvious that she is either summoning to or awakening something already on the plane. My guess is the ocean god that the sea cult seems to be based around. This is why I liked the Marit Lage theory since its a Lovecraftian monster (things that cause madness), has ties to the sea, and would be something she would need to rework the mana of the plane to bring about. Emrakul also fits the bill, but I feel strongly that it would be too soon.

I agree that it would be too soon for Emrakul from a narrative basis, but Wizards is a business, and frankly only makes sense to deal with Emrakul sooner rather than later. Your 'too soon' is nowhere Wizards 'too soon'.
