Turns out to have not a half bad Monarch match-up, and can stand up to Dracopals if I don't brick. The PK mirrors are skillful and fun af (seriously so good), and Great Magnus is a beast that most decks could prepare for (is vulnerable to Quantum effects), but nobody thinks to side for it. The Kozmo match-up could be better; the deck lacks non-targeting or non-destruction removal bar Magnus, and outside of beating them down this can make dealing with the ships a problem. Basically, if I want to win those matches, I have to get out Magnus fast or set up a very strong field quick. The main bad part is siding is a nightmare in this deck. There aren't many side-board cards to run that don't hurt me as well. Spell Shattering Arrow has proven great against Pendulum and Monarch decks and Mask of Restrict for Monarch and Kaiju decks; but Imperial Iron Wall can hurt me a decent amount too. Thankfully not as much as it hurts Kozmos, so I still have it in there for that. But the other part is that choosing what cards from the maindeck to side out is a big problem. I typically don't like touching consistency cards like Terraforming (although if I had to I guess I would pick that), or Foolish and RotA. Ironically, Raigeki is often the first to go depending on the match-up, as is Sword; but most cards have really solid application that I usually do not want to part with and half the time I don't know what to side out; which is a new problem for me. But, the PK component is great; E-Tele enables R3's a lot easier; Quantum Field Spell gets PK's in the grave fast and easy; PK's offer refundable discards for cheaper and faster Magnus's; PK's offer additional removal and monster options. Just overall a really good deck. Could use help on that side-board game, though.
goodfusion
What have you got as your Side Deck currently?
Progenitor
if you wanna take a more anti-meta approach, I've seen versions of this deck that run Vanty's, Anti-spell, etc. Then they abuse the Phantom Knight Xyz in order to easily whip out Key Beetle. Apparently Key Beetle + sword can be a nightmare to deal with, not to mention the other floodgates screwin you over. I haven't tested it myself, but i've seen it run and it looks pretty effective for the most part. might warrant some testing if you wanna go that direction
VCR_CAT
So far my side deck is:- 3 Royal Decree- 3 Imperial Iron Wall- 3 Spell Shattering Arrow- 3 Mask of Restrict- 2 Moon Mirror Shield- 1 Twin Twister I really should just drop Cairngorgon for Key Beetle, though. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to get off that combo; but I think I can do it if I'm not concerning myself too much with the Ragged Gloves 1000 boost. Really hate the hard OPT on that card; but it does stop silly stuff like a 4K Breaksword or worse.
(GigaDrillBreaker)
In my testing of quantum as an engine, I almost always preferred red layer at 2. Perhaps replace e with One for One? Discarding a PK to get Alphan seems pretty legit.
VCR_CAT
Made some changes. Actually got rid of 1 Blue Layer instead of 1 Red Layer for the 1-for-1, and I do have good reason for this.Red Layer is a card that's great to open with and great to draw in most stages of the game. His self-summon effect combined with the recycle makes him a fantastic topdeck in almost any situation; and being able to Tribute Summon him to get around Dominion is super legit. Now, Blue Layer isn't a card you want in your hand. Blue Layer is a card that you're either summoning with Green Layer or Emergency Teleport; and being forced to Normal Summon Blue Layer is often a really bad thing. So, in the interest that Red Layer is, overall, a better card to see go into your hand; I cut down Blue Layer instead. Also ditched Cairngorgon for Keybeetle because I was never using Cairngorgon.
