The Next Generation of Space? Is Star Trek Finally Possible?

This is very exciting. I had done some casual sleuthing into Warp Drive stuff a couple months ago; and overall the consensus was that the power consumption and/or real specifics were just too out of our reach in this day and age. I mean, right now it's definitely exciting to see something as small as a proof of existence, and seeing warp drive capabilities in this lifetime would be very cool. Maybe then we can get some colonies on Venus* soon!

*Turns out it's easier to have colonies on Venus in the style Bespin Cloud Cities (but not really) than it is on Mars.

The fastest thing discovered thus far is the speed of light. Thing is we can't build something to go that fast since light is unaffected by outside forces such as gravity or distance. The only way it can be theoretically possible would be to change the molecular structure of the space craft to match that of light.

tfw hasn't done any research into what warp fields or what the model of warp drive is. Do some reading, m8.

Js, light is affected by gravity. That is why black holes are black

Don't warpdrives alter the fabric of space time to kinda make the distance shorter? Or we talking Interstellar type Black Hole creation

In theory, warpdrives alter the fabric of space, essentially folding it, to make the distance shorter.  Although, Star Trek warpdrives warp the fabric around the ship, kinda like it's swimming/folding (if that makes sense) through the fabric of space.
