For anyone wanting to do stuff in Festival Plaza, make sure to connect to the internet (blue button bottom right corner) and join the type matchup tests. They're begin hosted almost constantly, super easy to get points in, and lots of people join them. You can easily get 30-50 FC each time you do one.

I'm just filling my Plaza with high level Treasure Hunts, for the Bottle Caps. Not really interested in anything else, since pretty much everything else offered in the plaza can be gotten in the normal game easily enough. Speaking of Bottle Caps, they only make your IVs perfect with regards to stats in battle, if you try and breed they will pass on their normal IVs before the Bottle Caps, and it doesn't affect Hidden Power.

Also, if anyone happens to get Pokerus and doesn't mind sharing by slapping it onto a random mon and trading it, that'd be great. It's sort of convoluted, but you can trade by connecting to the internet in Festival Plaza, and then Link Trading with your friends who will show up on your guest list. Btw my FC is 0748-6486-2145, since I don't have anyone added anymore since getting a new system.

EDIT: Apparently teaching TM moves increases happiness. So you can spam two different ones over and over on a move slot to max it out really easily, then level for the evolution.

EDIT EDIT:

[spoiler=Oh sheet I figured something out.]Mohn, the guy in charge of the Poke Pelago, is the father of Gladion and Lillie, husband of Lusamine. When getting a Type: Null from Gladion he mentions that his father was the first to discover Ultra Wormholes and kicked everything off, before disappearing during an experiment. It's mentioned in multiple places in the game that it was a professor named Mohn was the man who discovered the Ultra Wormholes. And if you look at Mohn, he looks similar to them in the hair and eyes.

Did anyone else playing moon have a hard time with Mallow's trial?

Castform using Sunny Day to make Lurantis' Synthesis ridiculous and lose wait time on Solar Blade suuuuucks. Especially when your only fire-type is a Salandit. Maybe that was the problem though.

Lurantis and Wishiwashi were definitely the toughest Totems, imo.

I'm currently going through the process of getting all the Pokemon I want on my final team with correct natures/Pokeballs. Currently have plans for:

Golisopod

Silvally

Minior

Mimikyu

Kommo-o

Dhelmise

Which might just be the jankiest looking team ever, but whatever.

EDIT: Oh snap Minior's shell protects it from status conditions, that's awesome. I think with Shell Smash it's a pretty good mixed sweeper, and works well with White Herb.

EDIT EDIT: I just found the cheekiest funking thing in this game. In the back of Konikoni City at the lightouse, the sign reads:

Lighthouse Point

"The point that has a lighthouse."

Love it.

I have Sun, and Lurantis was partly a problem on me (well, probably didn't help that a chunk of my team is weak to Grass, bar maybe a Level 25-26 Herdier; I forgot what level, and had to resort to spamming Z-Moves to kill it). But yeah, Sunny Day sucks.

---

In my case, on Ula'ula Island and about to encounter Guzma.

Team-wise:

  • Primarina (Ashimaru; yeah I was lazy with the name) - level 34
  • Lycanroc [Midday] (Cinnamon) - level 36
  • Espeon (real name) - level 30 (at the moment, Sp.Atk training it in Pelago while I go to class [well, partly when I'm sleeping and doing studies])
  • Jolteon (Raikiri) - level 27 (see note about Espeon)
  • Stoutland - level 35
  • Mudsdale - level 33

Well, I kept about half of my original plans, but a few ideas were scrapped or on late development (taking forever to train them, so will do them later). Yeah, I bred the (female) Eevee you get from the ranch with my starter (yeah, I got a Timid starter, so that's why)

Isn't the rule about Z-Moves like the rules of Mega Evolution: Once per battle?

TIL multiple Pokemon can hold the same Z-Crystal. Also, getting high SOS chains is a good way to get better IVs on Pokemon and even catch shinies, apparently.

EDIT: [spoiler=Man, the Eevium Z sidequest is unexpectedly somber...]So there's a guy, Kagetora, in the Thrifty Megamart who gives you Eevium Z, but only after defeating these other trainers who all use each of the Eeveelutions, then defeating him. However, after the first couple I was surprised to realize that all of these trainers are elderly (maybe I'd be less surprised if I didn't accidentally skip some of his dialogue), and all of them give some deep words reminiscing life in some fashion, and it's surprisingly heavy.

For example, the Flareon User says his life's flame is burnt out leaving only ashes, and he wants to live the rest of it in peaceful retirement. The Espeon User likens his life to the sun setting at the end of the day. The Sylveon User had actually died a year prior and left her Sylveon to her granddaughter, who we battle instead. I think the one that got me the hardest was actually the first one I went to, the Jolteon User, who was a tired old women who couldn't even remember who Kagetora was.

When you report back to Kagetora, before your battle with him he sums it up pretty well, time is indeed cruel. My heart was honestly pretty heavy by the time I got the Eevium Z, I think this sidequest was very well done. Props to Game Freak.

On a happier note, you can change the music in the Battle Tree, so now I've currently got it set to ya boi Guzma's theme.

I see what you guys meant about Totem Wishiwashi, that sheet is bullshit. Helping Hand spam AND that BS Alomomola summon that heals status conditions. He was even giving Valor (Dartrix) trouble. Granted, after a switch-in he did KO both of them with Razor Leaf. God bless that hitting both enemies.

Only difficulty I might've had was that Alomomola; yeah, healing statuses sucks. Otherwise, I don't think I had much difficulty killing the Totem Wishiwashi either, even if I had the Water starter and some other stuff. I had to use the Normal Z-move to kill it, then wipe out Alomomola with something else.

Other than that, the trials afterwards weren't too difficult. The Ghost trial was good EV training for me though (and I have a new spot to quickly speed train [and SpAtk more effectively before I can get the Power items]). Just have to deal with Team Skull on Route 17 at this point in time.

I think I mentioned this at some point already but I named mine Cocytus because I saw it and was instantly reminded of the Overlord character.

Did everyone get their randomly free Aerodactyle from the fishing village (if you made it that far?) cause there is one and I'm so confused.

Also, maybe I just didn't talk to enough NPCs in previous games but we get a hella lot of free stuff this gen.

Now if only Golisopod had been Ice/Bug.

Well, one could argue ice is a subset of water (in a lot of RPGs that don't have a dedicated ice element, ice moves are counted as water), and Golisopod can learn Hail, Ice Beam, Blizzard, and Frost Breath through TMs (though they'd be terrible on him because he's a physical attacker). So he's pretty close, making the name even more fitting.
