Pokemon Sun & Moon

Decided to post here for once; not sure why I honestly haven't been. Here's some of my thoughts too.

Have you checked out Golisopod? Slow af, but makes up for it with its super high Attack and Defense, as well as access to Priority moves like Aqua Jet for STAB. Ability makes it very good as a tactic combining with its signature move. Give a strong blow on the first attack Golisopod comes out, then if Golisopod survives around half, you get a risk-free switch. Combined with Life Orb it might potentially be a monstrous hit-and-run kind of Pokemon, and not to mention Leech Life i Base 80 is also a thing. Pairing with Wish works out very well so something like Togekiss or Jirachi would be good supporters cause of Thunder Wave & Serene Grace.

Mimikyu is also pretty lethal as well. Aside from being the other unique Physical Ghost-type, Disguise with Focus Sash ensures not dying in 2 turns, so it can x4 Attack boost with Swords Dance and then priority Sucker Punch. If you bait a switch, stacking a Substitute can be annoying af. It's got decent Sp. Def to counter against opposing Ghosts and Poison, has access to crippling status moves like Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave, as well as other powerful STAB moves like Play Rough.

Minior is incredibly solid; It learns Shell Smash and Cosmic Power, so under the right condtions, this thing can be a powerhouse. Only thing holding it back is its subpar speed, but it can yield a good amount of powerful moves like Acrobatics so with a Sitrus Berry use + Shields Down can be devastating. Rock Slide is a good STAB in Multiples and Stealth Rock is a good setup.

Bruxish is a decent anti-Priority tech so it has somewhat of a niche to prevent your other teammates from being weak to certain Priority. Swap it in against something like Aqua Jet Azuramill or Bullet Punch Scizor, then under a bait & switch setup a Reflect/Light Screen. It's got a limited movepool but it has very well-rounded stats that will make these moves effective.

Btw, Golisopod also have First Impression, which is an amazing bug-type priority move in the same vein as Fake Out, but far more powerful at the cost of not flinching.

Minior's Speed issue is pretty much nonexistent once it hits the form change (base 120 speed), and its bulk before shields down activate is pretty dang good. Biggest issue is priority for him tbh. Aqua Jet and Bullet punch can end it pretty easily.

Yeah, Mimikyu's amazing. Idk if it'll break OU, but it's definitely gonna be good in any of its tiers.

Another unnoticed gem until recently is Araquanid, the diving bell spider 'mon. Its ability gives it immunity to burn + halves fire damage + doubles the power of any water moves it uses before STAB. Despite having shitty offenses, when using moves like Liquidation (physical water move with 85 BP) and Scald, it'll hit like a truck and it has a great bulk on top of that, especially on the special side. Coupled with good resistances, I can see it doing pretty good.

Oh, seems that bit about Araquanid's ability doubling the power of Water attacks was recently confirmed, that's why I didn't notice it at first. But I agree: even with subpar offensive stats, it should still hit hard with Liquidation.

Something that has me interested, and even a bit excited, are the Island legendaries and their Terrain setup abilities. Really looking forward on how they will be used and if they will shake the tiers they end up. In fact, I have always had that stance of not including legendaries in my teams, even the ones that aren't in the Uber tiers (mostly as a challenge; I don't have anything against using legendaries), although I have considered a few like Zapdos; but these guardians are changing my mind.

I have always wanted to give Grassy Terrain a try because of the recovery effect, but never did because I found it too unreliable since Terrains didn't have any support, and now there will be Tapu Bulu for that, which upon reading I found it can hit like a truck with Wood Hammer, considering its 130 base attack, STAB and the damage boost from the terrain; then, it also has access to Horn leech and Leech Seed for the recovery. However, I can't say that appearance-wise Bulu is my favorite of the Tapus; I like Lele more, which looks really good already with its high Sp.Atk, decent Speed and outstanding Sp.Def, backed up by Psychic Terrain (no priority moves and extra power on Psychic attacks).

I like how the reason they give for the Dig lines hair is because volcanos. Um..........sure, lets go with that.

Lightning is one of the weirder, and imo weaker, UB designs. It's still cool, but I like it less than the others.

Gluttony is terrifying and a great UB design.

The starters having special Z-Moves is cool. Eye has the coolest looking one while Roar has the lamest looking.

So, some more news.

Move Relearner can now go up as well as down in teaching moves. Huge for Little Cup.

The Mega Stones in the game amount isn't all the old ones.

Not sure if I said it here (feel like I should have, but could have forgotten), but you can breed normal versions of Alolan Pokemon by using the Everstone.

Me watching the trailer:

"If Incineroar's isn't some wrestling move I'm going to be pissed."

*flaming ring emerges from the ground*

"There we go."

Also, Gluttony is incredible. That's some Dark Souls sheet right there, that is. Definitely my favorite UB design, I think I'll name mine Gaping Dragon.

Does she really?

Be aware folks if you don't want story spoilers don't look in either of our spoilers.

[spoiler=Answer as far as I'm aware]

As far as I know she isn't dead. Just in a coma.

Anyways, my duel pack of Sun & Moon ship tomorrow. Hype, hopefully they get here early. :)

After watching the trailers, I don't regret choosing the Water starter now; though admittedly I did like Incineroar's Z-move, even if only for the wrestling influence. Decidueye's one was okay. Still not happy about the low speed on the whole region, but suppose we'll have to adapt or just see if the datamines are false.

Oh right, and now I have to figure out how to get Magearna in the US. It's a QR code, yes, but how are we supposed to get it?

What ends up happening from what I understand the pokemon you scan will appear at a certain location which you then go to meet. Additionally, scanning 10 QR codes means a rare pokemon will end up spawning.

Well, it releases tomorrow so hype for that. I might not be able to do much after buying (least on day 1) due to coursework. Will need to pick it up from Gamestop after I get out of class.

I only preordered Sun; would've considered Moon but suppose I will purchase it at a later date. Should've asked when I went on Sunday (if I could preorder Moon as well), but can't be helped now.

Looking at the official pokemon stuff posted on Seribii I have an idea for a set up for a Pokémon I got my eye on.

[spoiler=Lycanroc Day Form set up]Name Ideas: Wolverock/Doggo

Nature: Jolly/Adamant

Ability: Keen Eye/Steadfast

Item: Assualt Vest/Dark Z Crystal

EV: ATK 252 SPD 252 HP 4

Moves: Accelrock, Thunder Fang, Fire Fang, Crunch

Basically with Lycanroc having 115 ATK and 112 SPD it can be an effectively fast type coverage pokemon where you can get the 2 Elemental Fang Moves by breeding them off a Arcanine which can be attained by getting a Growlith early in the game as it appears on sun and moon in route 2. In addition to items I thought either Assualt Vest for SDEF boost or Dark Z Crystal for a Strong Z Move attack which totals 160 BP. Finally Ability wise Lycanroc outside of Sand Teams I would go depending on avalibility of hidden abilitys Keen eye (which prevents accuracy reductions) or Steadfast (Hidden ability that increase Speed when it flinches)
