Tier List (Post February Adjustments)

Recommended Posts

This feels appropriate again.

Tier 1

DracoPals

Kozmo

Monarchs

Merlantean

Tier 2

Magicians

Burning Abyss

Infernoid

Tier 3

Tellarknights or something

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pretty plain and simple, if you're a BA player this format, cyber dragon core is highly recommended in the side since kozmo is pretty relevant right now.

Feedback and more explanations welcome, if you want me to explain something about the list just ask, Tier 3 is a bit irrelevant tho.

Where are Speedroids on the tier list?

I don't see Mayonnaise anywhere.

No longer drunk, here are my thoughts:

Currently, I believe the meta is currently a 4-deck format, composed of

1) Kozmo
2) Dracopal
3) Monarch
4) Atlantean

Kozmo have the strongest foothold over the game right now. They have great matchups against the tier 2 and rouge, and their ability to break boards and OTK easily cements their spot of as the best deck this format. Dark Destroyer makes that big of an impact.

Dracopals have fallen from grace as the top deck with the banning of the Performages, but the deck still has an impressive array of options. Even though the deck has lost access to Cyber Dragon Infinity, it still has Traptrix Rafflesia, Evilswarm Nightmare, and Ignister, all strong cards. However, their boards are now much more vulnerable and die to a simple Dark Hole or Raigeki.

Monarch are third due to their anti-meta strategies. Domain locks out most decks cold, and with the addition of the Quantam engine the consistency problem that has plagued them has been alieved somewhat. However, they are the easiest to counter due to their low ceiling, and skilled players will have no problem beating Monarchs.

Atlanteans are the underdog in the meta. Atlanteans got a huge buff from Neptabyss, giving them an instant +2 and already solving many of the problems the deck had. The Mermails are great for usage either going first or second, and their OTK potential is the highest out of all the decks this format. However, the deck is too fragile, and a well-timed hand trap can stop them cold. In addition, most players are opting to go second to get the draw and first damage, so the deck is less likely to OTK if you lose the coin toss.

These are the four decks I believe currently dominate the meta at tier 1.

------

As for the tier 2, the 3 decks are:

1) Burning Abyss
2) Infernoid
3) Magician

Burning Abyss are a relatively strong deck this format, but they are forced to build around the meta, as they lose painfully to Monarchs and Kozmo. As a result, trap-heavy builds are being abandoned in favor of "Big BA", composed of primarily monsters and spells to spam F0 vs Kozmo, as well as reliance on BLS to combat Monarchs and Domain.

Infernoid are a deck that ultimately loses to itself, but Infernoids are now much more able to compete in the meta due to their favorable Monarch matchup.

Magicians were directly hit with Joker to 1, so their consistency has been lowered drastically. Magicians are essentially a "fair" PePe, and as such will most likely stay in the lower tiers.

Did Chronomally not pan out then?

I largely disagree on TCG's panning of Magicians so early in the game, while Crobat might be limited, OCG does manage to crank out plays with the limited insight, the deck needs to tech itself out more. I'd argue the biggest weakness of TCG Magicians at the moment isn't the Crobat limit, but rather the Stratos ban thus hindering Hero Magicians

That aside, I don't think we've seen the last of our good friend Infinity in Dracopals, and without full powered BA around, it's power isn't weakened all that much. Good Witch will see herself out allowing for CDI to make rouge snipes

Anyway, I'm really excited for this list, but not for the reason you may suspect

shouldn't this be a February tier list speculation thread since we don't have actual results just yet?

Also, I really feel like the OP undersell Magicians while overselling 'Pals. The biggest thing this change gives to 'Pals is your ease to trigger Sorc is reduced to a degree that it would actually hurt. Draco makes it so you can still retain explosiveness and stuff you otherwise can't, but yeah. Magicians can pull off Avian locks first turn while also being capable off using Secondonkey+Sorc to somewhat mitigate the loss of Skullcrobat. Their edge is mainly a more consistent scale setting from current Dracopals.

Monarch will be big, and it's the cheapest out of the T1 candidates, but it bricks like no tomorrow. It's natural since the deck relies on having combination of cards to play, but it's a type of deck that I don't see dominating larger events tbh. Having big representation? Should be. But definitely, it won't dominate. Unless Super Quantum Monarch is a big thing in TCG. Kinda likely, but we'll see.

Kozmo maybe would be the proper best deck, albeit I am sure the gap will be minimal between it and the next one.
