Black Rose Dragon Support/Upgrade/idk what this is...

Remember Thorn of Malice? Yeah, I didn't expect you to... :p

Apparently all Signer Dragons aren't created equal. I wanted to give Black Rose Dragon some support, since it's my favorite Signer Dragon, yet the original version hasn't ever gotten any new forms (Black Rose Moonlight Dragon was nice, though). Anyways, this was a weird idea that I had, and it's probably a terrible approach, but I'll explain my logic with this card's effects.

I wanted this card to retain at least a part of Black Rose Dragon's nuke effect, since it's likely that if it's being brought out, the Black Rose Dragon on the field probably didn't activate its own nuke. As for the Thorn Counter effect, it was meant to be an upgrade to Thorn of Malice's effect; the logic behind it being that a monster that this card attacks is then restrained by its thorns, hence why the affected monsters almost completely aren't allowed to leave the field except by being destroyed. Finally, the destruction protection is there to give a worthwhile use to the Xyz Materials, and gives at least some - even if minimal - incentive to run a card that probably shouldn't ever be run otherwise (Thorn of Malice).

Anyways, comments, constructive criticism, and suggestions will be much appreciated. ^^

Effect:

3 Level 7 monsters

You can also Xyz Summon this card using a “Black Rose Dragon” you control equipped with “Thorn of Malice”. (Thorn of Malice also becomes Xyz Material on this card.) When this card is Xyz Summoned this way: You can destroy all Spell and Trap cards on the field. Monsters cannot be destroyed by battle with this card. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. If this card battled a monster: That monster's ATK and DEF becomes 0, also, if that monster is still face-up on the field, place 1 Thorn Counter on it (max.1). A monster with a Thorn Counter has its effect negated, it cannot change its Battle Position, and it cannot be Tributed or used as Material for an Xyz, Fusion, or Synchro Summon. When this card would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz Material instead.

On another note, please excuse my attempt at photoshopping. I tried to make the image more "thorny" to differentiate it more from Black Rose Dragon, but I wasn't able to do much with it.

I feel the last effect is overpowered. The lock-down from this entire card is massive; I think destruction protection is all that is required.

I like the requirements for this card; I would certainly run it in L7.dek, but not more than 1-2, because it needs 3, but it has good ATK and DEF and a powerful effect.

So to clarify, you're saying to replace "sent to the Graveyard" in the last line with "destroyed" instead? I think that's a reasonable change. I'll edit that right away. Thanks for your comment~

EDIT: Card updated~

It's been a while since either of us posted cards (and it's nice to see you around more, Zex).

Anyway...I'd probably see this card being summoned via its alternative method of summoning for the most part (assuming you can get Thorn on the field quick enough or something). In terms of its conditions, not too sure how many R7 decks can feasibly make it, but the possibility is there. I do like that it can lock down the opponent's attempts at Xyz/Synchro and whatever, especially given the amount of ED plays that exist nowadays. Granted, non-destruction removal is common nowadays but since a lot of that exists in the meta, I won't mention it too much. Though, a 101-esque protection effect is fine otherwise, especially given what it can do.

Thanks for your comment, Sakura. Thorn of Malice was just one of those cards which I found quite interesting and appealing despite its uselessness in competitive play, and I used to use it (in my Aki character deck) just for the sake of being able to. :p

And it definitely feels good to finally make another card; I don't think I've made any new cards in almost 2 years...
