Sleepy
This is one of those cartoons I used to watch a lot back in my late elementary and my middle school days. Great show. Though I hard it has kept on running all these years and that the newer seasons aren't up to pair with the quality of older episodes.I've been looking at episodes from these latest seasons and then re-watching some of the earlier random episodes YouTube puts in my face to click on.You know, just for comparison purposes since its been so long that I didn't really have a clear standing upon watching the debut of Season 10. I have a few thoughts but am yet to watch anything from the infamous season 9 or even 8, so I'll watch a few more episodes before I display thoughts in detail. For now I just wanted to open this thread and ask what you people think of the series (new and old bits or in general). Toffee.
Fairy-Dog(I forget his name) is an amusing character. Weird, but amusing....I still really enjoyed Channel Chasers.
Jord200
I can't tell you how many hours I must have spent watching this show as a kid. Good times.
~British Soul~
I remember watching this show when I was a kid too, good times. I haven't seen any of the newer episodes, but I'm not unaware of the goings on.I did enjoy the movie episodes (ie Channel Chasers, Abra-Catastrophe, School's Out the Musical, etc) though. Lonk
The series should've ended after Channel Chasers. The ending on Channel Chasers was just amazing, and it would have perfectly wrapped up the series since it gave the show the necessary closure it needed. Forest Fire
At this point they're really just beating a horse that should have died a while ago... like... the introduction of foop was their "jumping the shark", the dog thing and this new girl are just.... it's like resuscitating something/someone you know is dead, but hoping it'll come back to life despite the impossibility of it. Shradow
I stopped when Poof entered the scene, I outgrow the show about that time but also it started to go downhill after that so I wasn't super sad to see it go. Channel Chasers and the one with the wishing cupcake were the sheet, though, loved those.
~British Soul~
I have to agree with the addition of the new girl, I didn't see any point in doing that tbph.
GarlandChaos
I stopped when Sparky(that dumbass dog) entered the show. To be honest, I didn't really mind Poof. Wasn't a big fan, but didn't really mind. Also, because I have to, The Crimson Chin is the best character.
~British Soul~
I didn't mind Poof either, but yeah I did spend the last couple days re-watching Channel Chasers and Abra-Catastrophe because why not.
Fusion X. Denver
I've been noticing the recent controversy with the new girl sharing Wanda and Cosmo with Timmy. My main gripe with that is she's this perfect Mary Sue character and she's well-liked by everybody. Which...kind of defeats the purpose of needing fairy godparents. Timmy got them because his life sucked. Maybe they explain it in the show, but that was something that popped up as odd to me.I'd like to see Butch Hartman tackle a new show. I loved Danny Phantom. The Warden
Apparently being a screw-up qualifies you for Fairy Godparents.

Cosmo being in labor/giving birth/etc is outright funny as hell.

GarlandChaos
My memory is a bit fuzzy, but Channel Chasers was the episode where Timmy, Cosmo, and Wanda were chasing this guy throughout the television network and found out that the guy was[spoiler=Spoilers]Future Timmy , right? If so, I agree. That episode was pretty great, and another fond childhood memory of mine.

Some of it is snarky comments/etc regarding marriage Some of it is just him being a dumbass The later two are what works.

I want to think that one of the writers that was in charge of the first part of the season 10 episode 1 screw up and nobody cared enough to review what had been written. You see, only when she is presented does it get stated that she's good at everything and everybody loves her. Halfway into the episode and at least going onto the entirety of episode 2 of the season, she's just a screw up, and she does seem to not have the heart to say no to Catman, so episode 2 is a little bit torture porn for her character. I want to believe that further episodes will completely forget about the "perfect girl" part and just stick to the back-fired good intentions factor improving from Catman's episode. I'm not holding up many expectations seeing how the show has been since like, 2008 up until now, but I wanna be hopeful. The season 10 debut was all over the place IMO. I even thought to myself "was the show always like this and I just grew out of it somehow, somewhen? because I almost feel like I'm watching Uncle Grandpa".I saw a few older episodes (season 1 ones) and yeah, Cosmo is not cringe-worthy and the pacing just feels a lot better in general. They still have running gags, but there's something about the gags at Chloe's debut that were meh and I can't put my finger on it. Not to mention made-up rules; lack of human characters like Chester, AJ, Trixie, Tootie, and even Vicky; lack of anti Cosmo (seriously why was he replaced by anti Poof? Anti Poof lacks swag), and Puff and Sparky (as much as they are hated, it is still forced that they haven't been seen or even excused; finally, the plot of losing their wands is way too overused at this point and they should go back to getting Da Rulez! to ruin their plans instead. Toffee.
You know, she only gains Fairy Godparents because "whenever she tries to help, it always backfires, but is 100% perfect otherwise" is pretty sketchy/skeptical/iffy by itself.I mean... Timmy is basically just that. So why the need for a bastardized expy? Srsly.
Phantom Roxas
Yeah, I agree with the sentiment that Channel Chasers would have been best as an ending. Then they had the live action movies, and no thank you. It's like SpongeBob, where they have good endpoints, but still kept going. I didn't mind Poof, but I did stop the show a little while after he showed up. Kind of impressed that it was only the halfway point of the show, though. Sleepy
I just got around to watching season 10's episode 4 of the series, and I have to say I'm very disappointed.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oql9rz2KjU It is barely episode 4 of the season, and I'm already sick of Timmy's dad saying he's filthy rich as an excuse to put some nonsensical plot in motion. They are over using it, and I don't think I've seen Timmy's mom much at all after a few cameos at episode 1, it's like she's not even around the house. The scouts kept standing out throughout the episode to me. They are obviously meant to resemble Chester, AJ, Sanjay, and Elmer, and they are meant to be there for Timmy to look down on. Even the one that looks identical to AJ seems like he isn't. As much as people are happy Sparky and Poof aren't around, it's been 4 episodes and their absense hasn't been properly excused. Even if they are generally disliked, that's no excuse. Come to think of it, if the dad is now rich and able to randomly pop up every episode because he doesn't need a job anymore, that'd mean there's no need for Vicky to babysit Timmy anymore, and that's the very reason for him having godparents to begin with.... and Vicky appears in the opening but that's just out of laziness because at the end of the song they also didn't include Chloe, with her co-staring with Timmy now and all.... I keep saying, I like Chloe to a degree, but she's pretty much replacing the roll of other characters, and by that I mean like, half the entire cast one can think of. I can list a bunch of characters to be specific, but that'd be too long.... What are these writers doing? Nobody has a reason to have godparents anymore in the show, the characters randomly start being treated like they never existed, and new ones are still being wasted... This is sad. What happened to all the side characters, could they not rehire the voice actors or are they taking some weird direction where they're minimizing the cast? Sleepy
Wow, that's pretty lame. What happened to all the side characters, could they not rehire the voice actors or are they taking some weird direction where they're minimizing the cast? I've heard that unlike shows such as Spongebob, Fairly OddParents isn't really getting too much of a budget. They are trying to stay afloat but not exactly because the network is asking them to continue. I'd like to know the details on the lack of characters as well, but I think they might not be able to afford the full cast.
