Airride
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/AthenaEach time a Fairy-Type monster(s) is Summoned: Inflict 600 damage to your opponent. Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up Fairy-Type monster you control to the Graveyard, except "Athena", then target 1 Fairy-Type monster in your Graveyard, except "Athena"; Special Summon that target.Special mention to the Korean version. Ultra makes this card looks really pretty. This card can be really damn nutty. With Superbia, you deal 1200 Damage each turn, and get a Free Reborn on a Fairy at the same time (You can Tribute Superbia, Summon it back, then Summon something off its effect); If you Normal Summon something as well, then you do 1800 each turn instead. The problem is; There's very few ways to get Fairies to your grave (Asmodeus, Foolish...Shine Knight?), And it's really hard to get this out without Valhalla or Guellenduo/The Melodius Double Tributer, and those have their own problems, like having to have a clear field, and needing a Normal Summon open. If there were an easier way to get it out, I think it would be fantastic. Discuss.

IQuitDolphin
Now to find a way to get it on the field consistently without blowing your Normal Summon..........nope, not happening. Unless you run Valhalla.
Toffee.
Actually, if anything, I'd like to see more ways of playing Darklords over This. Why? Because Darklords have more support going for them, since 3x Call and 3x Oasis benefit Superbia more then This card.

As I stated in OP, This card and Superbia are BFFs since this becomes a Reborn on a Fairy Each turn.Just imagine;>Valhalla>Summon Asmodeus>Send Superbia to Grave>Next turn, send Athena>SS Superbia with Call/Oasis>Summon Athena>Asmodeus Sends Hyperion/Whatever>Trib Superbia, Summon Sent Boss>Special Mention to Hyperion Because now he's TPT by tributing them and then summoning them back>???>Shitloads of damage from Athena and infinite Summons From Superbia with infinite fodder from Asmodeus>BFFs

Airride
Which is why you run a ton of the Heralds. ...Yeah, I know, it's still inconsistent as hell, but I love my Johnny decks.
IQuitDolphin
Using a Speedroid engine of Terrortop + Takenborg can be an easy way to get tribute fodder for Athena, I suppose.
Tinkerer
It's level is pretty unfortunate, though. If it was level 8, it would make Trade-in not so inconsistent as well as open up some nice Rank 8 plays (burn for 12 then hit directly with Lancelot anyone?) ...on the plus side, it's odd level makes Reasoning more viable. Sleepy
I remember that Photon Sanctuary was used for those LIGHT heavy hitters that needed 2 Tributes.Nowadays it is just wasteful to do those sorts of plays, but back in the day, just the fact they were over 2500 ATK was enough of a payoff. to discard your Hecatrice for Valhalla, Special Supervia with Valhalla, activate Photon Sanctuary, Tribute Summon Athena with the tokens, and then Tribute Supervia to revive Supervia + Hecatrice. Or they could always discard the Level 8s with Trade-In, but to be honest, the issue with Trade-In is that it is not enough of an engine on its own. You can build a deck that is guaranteed to get those Level 8s to hand, but unless you are using something like Blue-Eyes that has other forms of thinning your deck and drawing into cards, you might not get to draw any Trade-Ins. It is still good when it is drawn, I'm just saying it either needs a searcher or another card that could do something similar with more or less the same kinds of targets (take TeleDAD for example: Allure alone is not enough for them and D Draw along is not enough either, their having both made them consistent). Spinny
It's level seven can you not just use a magician engine?
IQuitDolphin
It's level seven can you not just use a magician engine? No, screw that pendulum s***. But seriously running Spellcasters will decrease the number of Fairy monsters you can run.
Toffee.
Why not both?Darklords can be pro and run 3x Armageddon Knight/Dark Grepher/etc to rapidly fill the Graveyard. And given the fact we have 3 Call and 3 Oasis, you could also pull off a lot of plays quite easily. Athena + Superbia plays are cool and all, but Darklords being DARK and needing to be revived from the Graveyard has a lot more going for it, then a monster that will only honestly be played off Valhalla. Which is why Darklord support would be more beneficial.

You kinda need the additional Pure Fairy Support to make Superbia work.

Yea, you would, ironically, need a Fairy or two to make use of Superbia's effect, since just Zerato as the target would be weird.
