Tinkerer
“This new world is the next great frontier!”-Dr. V, founder of the Summoner HQA Summoner. One of the elite people hand selected by Dr. V to access the world hidden behind the cards. You were one of the chosen few thanks to your previous dueling records and your ability to communicate with duel monster spirits, or as Dr. V calls them, “messengers from the Inner World”.Those who accepted the Doctor’s invitation have been brought in from all over the world to a secluded island on the Mediterranean with a specific set of instructions: Bring only the clothes on your back and the card (or cards) which you have a spirit connection with.En route to the island, the doctor provided a small book of information on the history gathered so far about the “Inner World” and what his goal is.[spoiler=Plot]History:The Inner World was once a place of balance that was ruled by DIVINE beings. However, there were those who disliked the workings of the world. Their thoughts and DARK desires polluted the world, driving the DIVINE beings to cease protecting the world. The DARK beings seized this opportunity and nearly took over the Inner World, brainwashing the Dragons to possess their mighty powers. However, this DARKness was continually contested by the other types and the Fiends, who were mostly considered responsible for the corruption, were banished and sealed away in the Netherworld. However, the work was not yet done. The Dragons, completely corrupted by the DARKness, continued to rampage, destroying everything. The types, led by the Warriors, Machines, and Spellcasters waged a thousand-year war on the Dragons. Both sides suffered heavy losses, but no type sacrificed more than the Machines. The Machine King’s sacrifice in the first year of battle with the Dragons was followed by millions of Machines scrapped in order to stop any progression of the Dragons. Eventually, the final blow was struck when the top mages absorbed all the mana left in the world and sealed away the mighty Five-Headed Dragon inside a mountain. The DARKness was pushed away, but the balance of the world was completely thrown off. The Warriors, the most numerous beings left, took the duty of creating Order out of the Chaos. However, in their attempts to control, they made enemies out of the other types. It is in the midst of this era of distrust that Dr. V discovered his way into the Inner World.Summoners:Summoners are those people who are closely in-tuned with the Inner World. From the Summoner Headquarters, Dr. V can transport you nearly anywhere within the Inner World. As a Summoner, while in the Inner World, you have free reign to do as you wish, as long as you do not disgrace Summoners in the eyes of those from the Inner World. Dr. V has made a point to contact and make a good impression with many of the Inner World’s current leaders. That said, it should be noted that with the tension between types, it may be possible that a Summoner could be attacked. For the protection of Summoners, Dr. V has created the Inner Disk. It is a modification to the duel disk that allows a Summoner to use their own life energy to resurrect monsters to fight alongside them. Furthermore, when a wild monster’s life energy runs out, their spirit becomes stones that can be refined back at the Summoner HQ to allow that monster to be summoned.Dr. V’s mission is to study the interactions in the Inner World and understand how their world is connected to our own.[spoiler=Notable Characters][spoiler=Dr. V]His full name is Dr. Arthur Vandermann, though he prefers to be referred to as Dr. V. Since his youth, he had been able to see and communicate with duel spirits. It was one night as a youth where he had a dream that there was a whole other world filled with duel monsters that he started undertaking his mission of finding this other world. It took him sixty years to realize this dream. Now, Dr. V, though old, has the energy of a youth, happily sharing his dream with anyone he feels has the same passion. Now, with the development of the Summoner's HQ, he hopes to branch out and see if the reverse is possible, bringing duel monsters physically into the real world.Dr. V, at full height, stands at a little above 5'4" though is often leaning on a cane. He is nearly bald, with a crown of white hair covering the back of his head. His skin is very wrinkled and tanned, though his large blue shiny eyes seem to offset his age. He has no beard, but his shaggy pale walrus mustache seems to compensate well. He never seems to sleep and can often be found in the Summoner HQ library or his personal study. This attitude follows his policy of being approachable at any time.[spoiler=Lord Dragon Knight, Felgrand]One of the current leaders of the Warrior-types and commander of the Knights of Order, the faction trying to preserve peace in the Inner World. Mentored by the mighty Destruction Swordmaster during the Millennium War, he took up his mentor's mantle when he was defeated by the Five-Headed Dragon. During the final assault, he delayed the dragon long enough for the Mages to finish their spell and seal the dragon away in a lone mountain. Lord Dragon Knight now does not fight, but teaches the Knights of Order in the Capital. He has odd purple eyes.[spoiler=Thunder Lord of the Valley of Haze (Mist Valley)]The ruler of the Valley of Haze and the mountains beyond. Raised by dragons, he's the one responsible for the most direct opposition to the Knights of Order, whose attempts to pass his mountain range have always ended in failure. He means to keep the Valley of Haze sacred as it was the only place that DARKness was unable to corrupt in its prime. He is also the watcher of the lone mountain where the Five-Headed Dragon was sealed. He has bright green eyes.[spoiler=Machine King 1000 B.C.]The king of Machines who was defeated at the start of the war against the Dragons. Put back together by the Junkies, he now rules the Scrapyard (a sprawling desert where the remains of the machines in the Millennium War was dumped) with an iron fist. In fact, his oppressive reign has split the Machine-types into two factions: the Loyalists (those who the King believes are powerful enough to stand with him), and the Junkies (those who are not and do the majority of the work). Because this location is generally inhospitable to most, the Warrior-types have no claim over this land and don't know how many active Machine-types there really are.[spoiler=Dark Ruler Ha Des]Ha Des was the one who began the DARK regime ages ago. Though defeated, his influence had impacted many to follow him. When banished into the Netherworld along with his fiend-type marauders, he only wished to return to the surface and exact his revenge. Unfortunately, he could not figure out a way to break the seal during his lifetime so instead made Erebus the monarch of the Netherworld, and implored him to research life resurrection and seal destruction during his reign. Erebus nearly succeeded, but couldn't and passed his legacy onto his son Eidos who managed to complete the resurrection research and bring back Erebus and Ha Des as Zombie-types. Realizing a loophole in the seal, Ha Des, no longer a Fiend-type, was able to pass through the barrier. However, since his resurrection and passing back into the Inner World, no one knows where he's been or what he's been up to.[spoiler=Rules]1. Make sure to follow YCM and RP rules.2. I would be open to customs during the RP, but not to start out with.Q: How will summoning/controlling monsters in the RP work?A: For summoning/controlling monsters, you have all your cards immediately at your disposal. When you place a card on your "Inner disk", you put in your own physical energy to manifest that monster. That monster then appears in front of you, completely alive and independent. The summoned monsters also have their own personalities, but they generally do recognize you as their Summoner. A Summoned monster can then be conversed with, help in battle, and assist in other tasks (ie. a flying monster can help reach things for you, etc.) mostly on command. However, high leveled and rambunctious characters can be more rebellious so it might be more difficult to get them to do things.Q: Regarding the monsters you summon from cards, are there any restrictions as to how strong the monsters have to be, and can the player's main deck only consist of normal/effect monsters?A: With a high enough energy, you can Summon high level monsters directly, but usually they are pretty weak high level monsters if you do not need external support. For reference, the strongest monster a Summoner has currently been able to bring out by themselves has 2400 ATK. Less than that, and you shouldn't need help in summoning. Tributing a monster carries over their energy into the monster that you're trying to summon while also adding whatever new energy you are providing. The player's "deck" is mostly consistent of monsters. Summoners do have the ability to cast spells and lay traps, but they usually cost more energy than they're worth. Direct battle is more likely. Yeah, you can bring in Trap monsters or tokens, however, they will only count as 1 monster. Tinkerer
Or now. Sleep... What even is that? Yeah, I know the feeling. Accepted! What about Synchros? (should probably put it in the OP). Yeah Kinka-byo answered this, Synchs are part of the special card types you cannot use. Pendulums, however, do not count as a special card type. You can use Pendulum monsters, though they have their own unique abilities in the Inner World. Interested? On that note, do our spirit monsters absolutely have to correspond to our preferred type/ attribute? Not really, but note that it might make it difficult in some situations (ie. Affiliated with WATER/Aqua, but bring in a Pyro-type spirit). Just be logical. Certain spirits even affiliate with cards outside their type specifically as long as it makes sense (Junk Synchron with Machines, for example). Tinkerer
Maybe you could put apps in the OP for others to look at? Good idea! I should probably do that. Quick Question: In this RP will we gain the power to summon greater leveled monsters? Also, if we chose a LV monster is it possible for us to use the stronger forms of that LV monster? The short answer is: Yes, later on you will be able to summon stronger monsters. LV monsters are also special in that they have "potential". While most monsters you summon will probably remain close to the same strength throughout, LV monsters can grow. When it does, though, it'll completely replace all copies of your lower leveled version and it'll be harder to summon/control. Simply put, yes, you can use LV monsters and they do grow, but they are generally different from most other monsters. I am very interested. Can I use my blaster blade Fan made card? Welcome aboard! I was considering letting peeps use custom cards, but to start out, I'd like to keep things more or less straightforward. I would be open to customs during the RP, but not to start out with, sorry. Tinkerer
I hand drew my character, is that cool? PS: How will summoning/controlling monsters in the RP work (from a story standpoint) I'm interested in how you came up with all this, its really cool. Should be alright. Just make sure you throw in details that we might not get from the picture (height/weight for example). (I should also put this in the OP...) As for Summoning/controlling monsters, basically, you have all your cards immediately at your disposal. When you place a card on your duel disk, you put in physical energy to manifest that monster. The summoned monsters have their own personalities, but they generally do recognize you as their Summoner. A Summoned monster can then be conversed with, help in battle, and assist in other tasks (ie. a flying monster can help reach things for you, etc.). As in the game, you can only manifest 5 monsters at the same time. When a monster is defeated, their spirit returns to their card and has to rest before being Summoned again. Actually, I came up with this as a concept years ago. I would ask my brother a series of questions then look through a bunch of my cards until I found some that fit with his answers and we'd go outside and he would pretend to be able to summon the monsters and go on missions for Delg the Dark Monarch and the prince, Darknight Parshath... buy more cards from XYZ Agent... Increase his monsters' levels and power with Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu... Welp, that was then, but I thought it might be something worth making an RP about here!
