Catman25
I'm applying to grad schools which means, if I'm going to get in, I gotta go through the interviewing process. My overall gpa is alright, but I've done absolutely shitty in my science classes, which matters most since I'm applying to optometry schools. I've failed a class, scraped by with a D in one, and gotten C's in multiple (my Literature/Arts classes are holding my gpa up). When they ask, because I know they will, how do I explain this to these people when the reason for my grades is a combination of A) the classes were legit hard, and B) I'm a lazy piece of sheet. I can certainly blame it on personal reasons, which I think would be considered valid, but I don't think it's as much to blame as A and B, and also that card would be very awkward to use and I'm not sure how it would be received Also interviewers/applications all want to know why I want to be an eye doctor. Like I dunno, I think the eye is cool, and iirc I saw some cutie across the room with a bangin' pair of eyeballs back in like 7th grade and decided right then; helping people see is great, but that's the most standard answer, and I'm not even that passionate about it Looking at my academic credentials, they're on par with the rest of the applicants. Just how do I make myself stand out in an interview, when I'm hardly an interesting or competitive applicant. I've had like one interview, but it was for Dunkin' Donuts, and I'm pretty sure the manager was stoned while she was interviewing me, plus you don't need to be extraordinary to work there So yeah, that's pretty specific, just share with me your interview advice, or stories or whatever
Simping For Hina
I wouldn't sleep with the interviewers. It never gets you the job and they slut shame you. Also, the person wasn't entirely an interviewer and I thought they could make me famous. Don't trust back alley interviews.

Don't trust back alley interviews. These are people I'd see quite frequently, I think it'd be a pretty awkward four years What programs are you applying to?Like where? OD programs in like five different states Perhaps your path is still out there then, just saying I wouldn't get too far down a road I weren't passionate about if I were you. I know it's what I want to do, I just can't really say it's been a lifelong dream or that I've always aspired to help the visually impaired or anything like that. I've done the research, and job shadowing, I like the field and find it interesting, I just think any attempts at being passionate would fall a little flat, as with anything else; maybe just my nature to not be particularly driven by anything
