Flash Flyer - Sakura
nunukyuu, please don't post in a Q&A topic unless you intend to give a proper answer as well; thanks. In any case, if he wants to use the original God cards, make sure you work out what effects they have so you don't get surprised. Though, if he's literally just playing them on turn 1 without going through the usual business of Tributing monsters, then either ask him to play properly or just find someone else if he refuses. How exactly is he playing them, though? Unless this is in a competitive scene (either sanctioned by Konami or someone else), the use of the original God cards is fine, but you two have to work out what effects they have and make sure they are played correctly as per usual game rules (barring the banlist). くりぼ
I need to get a copy (or 3) of that card. He does say things like that. It gets on my nerves. Some of the newer players trust me because I have a better grip on the rules. I'll try DevPro and try to see if I can comvince him to use it. Thank you all. Kyng
Sorry, LC? Regardless of what cards he plays you shouldn't stop duelling. If you can't find anyone else at school who plays it I am sure there must be a local area where players gather?
くりぼ
Legendary Collection. :) There isn't really. Yugioh isn't... exactly seen well around here.
EndUser
Bear with it or move on.I mean, there's no other alternative. Either just duel him for fun (you can use Forbidden cards if you want) or try to find someone else if all you want is normal gaming.
Βyakuya
If he's going to go with it you can just bear with it and have fun with it by screwing the rules for yourself. If he's too serious and non compliant then ignore him completely. If you're willing to establish the ygo scene better, tell him the truth about the god cards and you can talk about what you intend to play with. In the end you should find some locals where it's better worth your time.
~British Soul~
Just bear with it, I mean I see no issue personally because he isn't playing in sanctioned tournaments with them.I remember when I was at school, playing for fun, one of my friends had like 8 Blue-Eyes and I had like 11 Dian Keto the Cure Masters. Did we care? No.
くりぼ
He tributes for them but he attacks with Obelisk after tributing my two monsters, does not understand blanket effects (like if I try to use dark hole) and says they target those certain monsters. (being his god cards) But he ignores or bends some of the rules. He also manages to get at least one in his first hand every duel. I try to hold my own but there's only so much I can do once he gets them out. I'm gonna need to talk with him.

Mikevmpr3
I honestly think you should recommend to him, IF he's got a laptop or a pc (or even an android device) to get YGOpro or devpro to learn what the forbidden/limited list is, and to use it as a Learning tool (yes i know sometimes its a little off as in timings and what not but its extremely accurate and allows for responses to your opponents plays) Tell him to build his deck on there (it gives you virtually all current tcg/ocg releases), and then play a few people Ask him how he did the next day and if he got Sh'wrecked on it, explain to him to build a deck with specific archetypes to at least get him started him on the right track If you've never used YGO/DEV pro, i suggest you give it a whirl, You can go from a skill level one to a skill level fiveish the first few times (even if you lose) because you realize where and when things are played (ie:effects/ chain links/ rulings) EXAMPLE, in advanced play, my first deck was a Blackwing deck. All those cards common needed for the deck are not that expensive, along with the extra deck. Its no where near meta but its a perfect starting point for advanced play. I try to hold my own but there's only so much I can do once he gets them out. I'm gonna need to talk with him. I know what you're talking about, and it really can be annoying as hell. When I played with some kids at my old school, all of them used banned cards and had stupid "rules" that let them do crap like summon directly from the deck and use monster effects during either player's turn. None of them really understood how rulings worked or how to apply effects correctly. Does your guy say stuff like, "I'm not breaking any rules, I'm just playing by what the card says,"? He'll be stubborn about changing the way he plays (and the way everyone else plays if he's their ringleader), but the best thing to do is talk to him about it and explain how the game really works. After that, you might have to be a bit of a rule shark (and maybe have someone to back you up) so that he and everyone else gets the message. Another thing you can do? Use an effective and speedy deck and crush him with it. The main person from the DN-like group I played with got murdered twice in a row, and after that he was never to keen about dueling me again, or using messed up "rulings". Everyone else followed after that.
