El-Shaddoll Construct

1 "Shaddoll" monster + 1 LIGHT monster

 

Must first be Fusion Summoned. If this card is Special Summoned: You can send 1 "Shaddoll" card from your Deck to the Graveyard. At the start of the Damage Step, if this card battles a Special Summoned monster: Destroy that monster. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 "Shaddoll" Spell/Trap Card in your Graveyard; add it to your hand.

 

As much as I desperately want this card back, I'm starting to think it shouldn't return for a couple reasons.

 

1) Construct allows Dolls easy access to Trick Clown which opens up the r4nk pool. A combination between Rafflesia and Back Jack is solidified further by this interaction. Furthermore there are powerful XYZ's for Shaddolls such as Lavaval and Gusto that become far more easy to access 

 

2) Foolish Burial and Mathematician are both limited, in addition, Armageddon Knight is also limited in OCG, construct (to a lesser degree) can double as any one of those card

 

3) Trapeze Magician + Construct => Shaddoll Fusion is a one card OTK, not to mention a double attacking construct can really damage any set up the opponent worked for.

 

4) The Envoys - likely the reason construct got hammer'ed in OCG, BLS and CED instantly fit into the deck because a resolved Construct gives them instant acceptability,  which leads to the final problem

 

5) DMoC and R8nk, mostly Harbinger, but R8nk. Construct can cover for DMoC's self-banish weakness by overlaying into Harbinger, which will then shut down any spell cards that trouble you. To top it all off, you can just play CoTH/Reborn/Charge to get back construct if push comes to shove

 

I don't know if this alone is reason to keep the card banned, but it will definitely make an impact in my opinion and seals the fate for the rest of the shaddoll cards kept on the list

To 1 would have been fine, but Konami developed a hate for Dolls and decided they wanted them Gone and/or they really want people to play Prediction Dolls.

Predictiondolls were only really a thing because Construct made drawing into Tarotray without the ritual into less of a brick and turned Manju and/or Senju into fusion fodder when you couldn't just yet ritual.

 

Without Construct, all those light monsters really do nothing for you and Tarotray becomes a brick.
