Thing is though, you don't get the CotH recycling as much as you would want, you have to actually draw into this give thing and dedicate space for it, you don't get the free hand discard, and is somewhat easy to play around.

Activate during your opp BP after they've already normal summoned or PS'ed, the triverr should remain face-up for the remainder of the turn since its unlikely they make a castel afterwards. Therefore you can snipe during your M1 and avoid the tellarknight exclusive restriction.

Well, if they Castel, MST, Chameleon into Ignister, etc. in MP1 (which is pretty common) you will be forced to use it, and then they can proceed to do other stuff (like Pend, etc.)

Unless I'm mistaken, Artifacts are the only deck that can make Azathoth without using Nyarla, which is the only case where it takes less Extra Deck dedication since Nyarla is useless on its own.

You would need to run an additional Tellar xyz to attach to Ptole, otherwise it would be 3 materials rather than 2.

I mean, if it wasn't banned I would still run it over this, 1 less space in extra is less painful than 1 potentially dead card in the main deck.

Kinda off-topic but now that you mentioned Artifacts, I found amusing how they can already perform a similar play with Azzathoth through Artifacts Unleashed instead of this card.

 

OT: Interesting card indeed. It's a -1 but a quick Xyz Summon has really cute applications such as inflicting extra damage on the Battle Phase, activating on-Summon effects of Xyz Monsters during the opponent turns, and even pseudo-dodging targeting removal. Plus I find nice how it also supposed to work with inherent Xyz-evolutions.

Most people also run Nyarla for a a 2-mat SS1 Azathoth.
