Wavering Eyes

My YGO community at my college has a ton of Pendulum players, including 6-7 Pendulum Magicians, 2-3, Pepe, 1 Igknight, and my Majespecter Magicians, and everyone runs this card in a way. Needless to say, it ruins friendships. It's basically that 4+ UNO Wild card.

We have discussions about this card's future, and so far the results have been nothing but degenerate so far. Even if it does counter a Pendulum play, the user can reap the results for their benefit, and getting 4+ pop with Wavering Eyes is much more easier. It's been defining the outcomes of Pendulum matches, with a 4+ pop determining the outcome of the game to who popped it, netting another copy and a free Pendulum and a targetless banish. Even without Sorcerer/Wizard, the pluses off this card can go pretty high. The situation might not be as bad as OCG, but at the very least it's starting to gain huge leverage here and it does affect multiple Pendulum decks to whoever uses it and what deck they and their opponent uses.

Once Pend decks can actually do something outside of Pend Summoning then it will become less "defining." Which is why it impacts Igknight and Majespecter so much.

PePe and Magicians have tools to defend vs Wavering. Post BOSH Pepe goes without saying.

Once these types of decks that can survive a wavering for 4 become more frequent I'd argue that you would need this card to exist so you can respect it (otherwise there are very few options to stop "mindless OTK" jajajaja Pend for 5 and obviously resolving for 4 in these scenarios would be powerful but not necessarily game winning). It doesn't necessarily impact non-Pend decks, this card existing actually encourages you (or gives you an incentive to) play non-Pend decks so you can solve the issue of Wavering eyes blowouts.

Bombs like this and Ignister help break stalemates when both players are just pending from the extra

@Fyreberd123: So you are saying Pendulum Decks should be buffed to make this card less severe ? That is ... an interesting approach at the very least, ... even if not very well thought through ... You mentioned a Pendulum Summon 5 to OTK scenario ... just like all decks can "Set 5 pass" ? Only M&Ms are really not caring if they overextend in such a way and something goes wrong, Wavering Eyes's concept is just ridiculous, justifying it with decks like M&Ms does not help that and in case you did not see it ... mostly pendulum decks use Wavering and M&Ms even get value out of Wavering just themselves, non-Pendulum decks are still promising as they are not bound to have Scales face-up, not to mention that decks like shaddolls and Phantom Knights do reward you for not using Pendulums ... the attempt to fight fire with even more fire is just silly.

Not really, he's only saying that Pendulum decks that heavily rely on Pendulum Summoning just have to be more flexible outside of Pendulum Summoning. Meaning they can recover plays after they get WE'd.

We all know that this card will go down the dark dungeons of the ban list soon. Either way this card has been a personal favorite of mine due to how impact ful this is on the current game state you are in and makes great combos.

One of the only cards in the current meta game i have kinda neutral reaction on "whether this is broke or not" context

It's an assumption that decks like M&M will become more frequent in the future, so not using the actual deck to justify this card.

Not sure what you mean by the set 5 comparison I just used the phrase to describe people not respecting Wavering Eyes.

I am aware that you would use this to trigger your own Pends.
