Raid Raptors – Booster Strix / Raidraptor – Booster Strix
Level 4

DARK Winged Beast-Type
(1) When a “Raidraptor” monster you control is targeted for an attack: You can banish this card from yoru hand; destroy that attacking monster.

100/1700

I was gonna say it's bad... but it's extremely searchable. Prob worth a test, and adds a factor to gameplay that you have to consider against RR.

EDIT: oh wait, didn't realize it destroyed

all the more to my point

Finally a decent effect for RR main deck monsters. Hope the others don't disappoint

U funking wot m8. Vanishing, Tribute, Mimicry, Sharp, Fuzzy, Singing? All them with their double effects and rank 4-6 making abilities don't qualify as decent but banish from the hand situational Sakaretsu Armour does? Just what.

why is he so fat.  i'm not even funking joking the thing's head / face alone is like the size of it's entire freaking torso.

But yeah the fact that you can just grab this from your last search of the turn that you probably don't really need for some extra protection pretty much solidifies this thing's role as a 1-of emergency tech that can save something you need in the next turn, which is fine.  Not spectacular, but it's one of those cards that fills a small void that RR can have a bit of trouble with, and doesn't run a whole lot of risk or chance for protecting that little niche use at least once.

after only a little testing... yeah, it's kinda bad.

It's too passive. Needed to be:

When an attack is declared involving a "Raidraptor" monster you control and an opponent's monster: You can banish this card (from your hand); negate that attack, and if you do, destroy that opponent's monster.

would've been a better defensive card (See: Majespecter, etc.) and would have been more of a Kalut.

That said, it is a valuable card all the same. It makes you have to think twice before attacking a Ruri. "What if they have Booster?" causes you to have to remove ruris instead of punching them, or risk this happening.

Nah, I can't help it. I'm totally gonna refer to this card as "Phat Boi" whenever I see it.

OT: Tbh, I don't have too much of an opinion on it. Just curious, why do you think it banishes itself? I mean, all (I think?) hand traps usually discard, right?

anime

easily recurrable

extended theme that Mimicry/the traps have

goad people into playing Amaterasu

I think you meant to have it say "banish that opponent's monster", otherwise Majespecters still go unfazed by this dropping, as do Kozmo.

OT: it seems cute, maybe a bit annoying, but probably not worth running in RR

no, i meant what i said

if it negated the attack before destroying (prevents replay on the offense), it would be extra defensive, because it still negates the attacks of things that can't be popped. Context should have given this away.

Yes, banishing would be better still, but the point remains, especially as this is an anime card.

I honestly could not leave this unreplied because the minute I looked at this and then the card I started laughing.
