Yo, happy to be here

Recommended Posts

Hey I'm just a standard issue new user. I had a look at the rules already, though there seem to be so many for the different sections it's a bit overwhelming. I've got the site-wide ones down at least, I'll just have to examine the section ones as they come up :)

I'm looking forward to trying to make some cards, my OCG is probably terrible but I'm trying! Haha. I do have one slight hurdle though, its the Card Maker down right now? I'm having some issues with it. Just hope I'm not making a noob mistake :P

Anyway, pleased to be here! Hello!

Welcome aboard, ehrm...imma just call you ITM.  Welcome aboard ITM :)

Good to see you've already read up on the site rules.  Being a step ahead is a good quality in new members.

As far as the cardmaker goes, I'll just inform you that the cardmaker built into YCM is kinda crap.  It's very buggy and doesn't even have pendulums.  If you don't mind, and if you operate from a computer that you own, I'd like to suggest you download TheProgrammer's "TCGEditor" program; it takes a bit of learning, but it's a very good cardmaker that will probably outrank YCM's for years to come.  You can find the link to that here.

Other than that, all that's really left to say is "Use common sense when in doubt", "Ask a mod or member for help if you're not sure what to do" (I'd be happy to help if you need something), reiterate "Welcome aboard", and send you off with a hearty "Have fun!" :)

EDIT: As for that dynamic you mentioned, don't be afraid of veteran members.  We're totally harmless and actually welcome new guys if they show promise to be cool additions to the community.

Yeah I actually just found that after looking through General while investigating Winter's warning. Didn't expect to find that app down there, I assumed it'd be in the card making sections :P Thanks though.

Ah yeah thanks for the welcome :) I'm not afraid of vets so much as am aware that lurking can often help a bit haha. And not to go around enforcing opinions on people also, but I think that's a more general rule no?

Yeah, the app is in General because that's where its creator originally posted it.

Pretty much the way you'll be able to make Pendulums until YCMaker can be bothered to add them.

Well, there is a GIMP/PS template for them in Showcase Tutorials if you'd prefer to do things. They're formatted the same as the card maker ones.

(BTW, we are aware that it's been over a year and half since they were added, but yeah know that our admin is pretty much dead, so it's mostly the other mods and myself running things.)

But anyway, welcome to YCM.

At least you've read the general rules, but yeah, do read the section ones.

My colleagues have different standards for the sections they run.

(For reference, I'm in charge of the whole of Custom Cards, this section and Questions & Help)

PM me if you need help around.

Have fun.

Greetings, and welcome to the Forum! I hope you enjoy your stay.

As for your OCG, don't worry, I'm sure someone can fix things up for you.

Thanks! :) That's what I'm hoping haha, I wonder how Konami keep on top of it all? (Or do they? haha)

If you need help with OCG, there's a guide in Advanced on how to write things.

Or you can ask me or Trebuchet MS/Gadjiltron.

Thanks, I've had a crack at making some cards, hopefully it's not so out of whack as to be breaking rules. D:

Don't worry if you have imperfect OCG.

A lot of times, Konami is very inconsistent with their own wordings, so gets hard to track stuff.

If you must use 5D's era writing, then that's perfectly fine.

Just make sure we understand that your card is intended to do what we think it does.

As for card making, if you accidentally make it a bit OP'd, then that's fine. You'll just have to tone it down a bit.

Of course, there is a difference between blatant OPness (meaning you intentionally make them crazy) and the above, which is what a lot of us go through.

tl;dr, just show effort that you tried to balance things, and are willing to fix things and you'll be fine.
