Alright, so I got Turtwig as my starter in a another fan-made game called Pokémon Rejuvenation (yes, I could teach my Torterra gen 6 moves because this game has pokémon from all generations) and I'm trying to think of its moveset when it evolves into Torterra. So, anyway, here's the information needed:

Torterra

Adamant Nature

Moves:

Earthquake

Curse

Giga Drain

Crunch

Whatever set you choose will determine what Torterra should be running.

Nature lends itself to either a full-on attack set, or some degree of walling.

Again though, you should consult Smogon for a list of viable sets.

There are certainly more options than what they give there, but they are proven to work in competitive.

A Choice Band set might be good in this case.

-----

Take off Giga Drain (even though it restores your HP if it damages).

Considering Torterra's base 75 SpAtk and an Adamant nature (cutting said SpAtk), it won't really help much.

If you need recovery, go with Synthesis, however be warned that it is weather reliant (though it'll heal more points than Giga Drain would in this case). That, and being locked by Taunt. You can run this on sets that do not use CB (because of the 1-move lock).

If you use the CB set, then you can run Stone Edge instead for another option against Pokes that check/counter you.

Just make sure you know when to switch Torterra out (because being locked into a certain move against certain foes is not fun).

Alright, so I got a Cyndaquil and I'm wondering what its moveset should be when it evolves into Typhlosion (i want it to learn moves up to gen 3, because I'm running it in gen 3). Here's the information needed.

Typhlosion

Quiet Nature

Moves:

Eruption

Flamethrower

Earthquake

Shadow Claw

The problem with that set is you can't do anything to a Ghost type. For that reason I'd recommend Knock Off. Not SUPER good in-game, but its still a fine move for coverage. Poison Jab is also good since it lets you hit Fairy types hard. Drop the Force Palm + Smelling Salt combo. Everything else is fine for in-game.

Defense cutting nature is really bad.

Ideal ones are Jolly or Adamant (probably the former, since you need that speed)

Should be okay with the moveset though, Brave Bird as STAB, Close Combat to kill Rocks, Steel and whatever else and Roost to heal off recoil from BB (but yeah, know that you will be Fighting bait afterwards).

The Staraptor looks about fine. The optimal Staraptor is effectively a missile, using Double Edge (requires breeding) that synergizes with Reckless (hidden ability). Strap on a Life Orb or Choice Band to smash even harder. If you wish, you can swap Roost for U-Turn so that you can have it bail out from slower threats while getting chip damage in. Your item for this Staraptor can be Sitrus Berry to give it additional lifespan if it takes too much recoil.

Magmortar is... odd. Doesn't have a lot of good moves going for it, and an unusual amount of its moveset is physical, so you can't effectively capitalize on its good Special Attack. If you have access to Gen6 moves, go for a bulky build with a Sitrus Berry, and swap Earthquake for Belch.
