Pokémon Movesets Thread

So, basically, anybody that needs help figuring their Pokémon movesets can post it here and we'll try to help.

So, I got a Shinx and I'm trying to figure out its moveset for when it evolves into Luxray. Here's the information needed.

Luxray

Item: I'm thinking Magnet or Zap Plate, but let me know which item fits the moveset best

Quiet Nature

Ability: (Right now, Shinx has Rivalry, but I think that might change once it evolves into Luxray)

Nope, Rivalry doesn't change with Luxray. Go for Intimidate since it never impedes Luxray's offenses.

Luxray's moveset is a little lacking unless you're willing to breed. Its middling speed and bulk make it difficult to support, so you'd want to make it as physcially aggressive as possible. Best nature is Adamant.

Its primary moves are a toss-up between Thunder Fang or Wild Charge. Many opt for Wild Charge due to raw power and don't exactly mind the recoil damage. Crunch is still very important as coverage to hit things the Elec attacks can't. Charge might be interesting but when you start calculating in 1 or 2 hit KOs you realize Luxray can't exactly survive long enough to unleash it unless you actually predict the opponent using a support move.

If you can breed, Ice Fang is a must on Luxray for coverage purposes - combined, very few can completely resist the combo, other than things like Magnezone or Rotom-H. Fire Fang is also good for supplementing the above coverage combo, giving Luxray the ability to get neutral hits at minimum on nearly anything. If you have move tutor access, Superpower is also fine in laying massive dents on things.

Sadly, I can't breed (yet!), but I don't think it's a big deal. I'm playing in-game. I'm not planning on building a very competitive team. I'm just managing with what I got. And, right now, sadly, this is the only shinx. So, in the meantime, we're going to have to manage with what we got. So, what is your suggestion?

Awesome! Thanks! I apologize if I'm asking for a lot of help, but I'm just making sure that I can make a decent team with what I've got! So thanks, Trebuchet MS, I reallly appreciate your help! Oh, and if you need any help figuring out your moveset, you know where to post! ;)

P.S: What item do you think Luxray should hold?

You really don't need to worry too much about a Pokemon's build in-game. Just make sure you have a move that shares its type, a couple of coverage moves, and maybe a good status move (Thunder Wave for example). In game the type boosting items (like Magnet) are perfectly fine and if you want something with more impactful Life Orb and Choice Band both do really good work, but ask a bit of you.

Anyway, this should really be in the video game section with the OR/AS thread being the best place for it. As such I'm going to lock this and if you want more help for movesets in-game you can ask there. Even if you aren't asking about that game specifically people will be more than willing to help.

I'm going to be locking the other threads to for the above reason.
