(GigaDrillBreaker) Posted November 26, 2015 Report Share Posted November 26, 2015 Putting this in general rather than misc because funk da police. Now, today is Thanksgiving for Americans. Its history is full of interesting details and customs, but the important part here is that it emphasizes the expression of thankfulness for what we have. Now, I think only a handful of people here would particularly care about my IRL life, so I am going to keep my thanks limited to YCM. 1. Duel Portal. I first started participating in the section early this year, and at this point the majority of my time on YCM is dedicated to it, one way or another. It has a great community (despite occasional spats) and really just feels like taking CC another step. Not to mention the skype group being a great place to talk about the actual game as well. 2. The RP community. Though I no longer think of the section as being my home on YCM, and I no longer am part of their social group, running an RP has shown me that the section is very much alive, and everyone is just how I left them. Just a big nostalgia trip, really. 3. Intelligent members in TCG sections. It isn't unknown that I maintain a fairly competitive mindset in most games I play, and I really feel this site is responsible for me knowing these games as well as I do. For YGO, there are various members whose posts I have learned from, notably phil, Fyreberd, Black, Koko, Nai, hell, even Winter has made some nice contributions. MTG is no different, with a lot of my knowledge of eternal formats coming from Poc, Rinne, and, of course, Dae. 4. Misc. I honestly don't give a funk how many people want it gone. Sometimes it is full of a few dozen variations of the same thread, but other times some legitimately funny sheet goes down there. 5. The mod team. I have given them a lot of crap in the past, but the mere survival of this place in the midst of all the shitstorms is a testament to their ability. 6. Toyo. Yeah, yeah, nobody is surprised at this inclusion. But really, I have known her for around a year now, and she is my best friend on the site. I could say a ton of sappy sheet, but I imagine that would just get on everyone's nerves. But I have been in some really dark places the last year, and each time she pulled me back out. Her belief in my own capabilities is what keeps me around here. So yeah, what is everyone else thankful for? Since I am putting this in general I feel I should offer a discussion point. Relevance makes things simpler.There was a similar topic started 1-2 days ago, but anyway, time to show my appreciation for this site: First of all, there are many Yugioh-related sites. Name it luck, may it be ignorance to look further; I happened to stay, learn, and live here. Profits. My first interaction was through CC and DP sections. I can be no less than thankful and happy to have found a place where I could develop even more than mere knowledge of the game and the meta. My activity there has dropped tremendously, but I haven't stopped admiring what is happening there (and comment on cards very occasionally). Misc has played a weird, but good role to my existence. Here. When I first joined, I was too noob to do almost everything. Now, I feel... a freer and richer noob! :P The Tournament section is another proof of my existence. DN was fun to use anyway, but this place made me feel even better using it! Not to mention there's a tournament in progress hosted by me. This alone should mean a lot. :) The rest of the site is either unknown or unexplored by me. I doubt I'll ever be active there BUT I don't exclude anything - who knows?
