Still fighting the good fight of positive-vibes in General.

Teachers. They're super important in a young person's life, and they can effect them in good and bad ways. A good teacher means different things for each person. So, what do you think makes a "good" teacher?
And, another purpose of this. Share stories about teachers you have that you've liked.

Had a social studies teacher that made a bet with me when i was in the 7th grade that i couldn't pass his test. I'd been goofing off the entire year and had only done enough work so that i could pass the class with about a 65-75, so me being me, I took the bet and focused as hard as i could on the test. at the end of the week, the results were in, and i was one of the only students in any of his classes to get above a 90 on the test (got a 97). that teacher inspired me to work harder in school, and while i still slacked off from time to time, ever since then, i had more interest in school than i'd had up until that point. so in a way, he might have helped me get through middle school, and a large fraction of high school.

I had one teacher I'll call Julius. Julius taught me English in junior year of HS and was a very quirky, enthusiastic man. I read aloud something from one of the stories we were reading near the start of the year and after class, he came up to me and said I should join the forensics team.

For those who don't know, forensics is the public speaking/debate team. No, I don't know why it's called that either.

But that got me to do something extracurricular after quitting track the previous year. And not only did I come out of my shell some more, but it gave me a lot more confidence in getting up in front of people and finding out I have a bit of a knack for public speaking. And this all eventually culminated into me choosing to study Communication in college. So I owe him a lot.

Above all that, he was just a funny and kind man. I ought to reach out to him after I graduate this year.

Had a teacher for Social Studies in my freshman (or was it sophmore?) year of high school.  Tall, burly black guy, with a football physique.  He walks in class, and with this super deep voice and says good morning.  And on the front row of desks, there's two students with their heads down, one of them with a hoodie on.  He slaps his huge hands down right next to their ears, and repeats himself saying good morning,  What happened next I'll never forget.  He looks over the class room, and goes, "Wow.  Ya'll are the ugliest damn kids I've ever seen in my life."

Laughed pretty damn hard.  And needless to say I never fell asleep in his class.  He was thorough, engaging, interesting, helped us to turn social studies into something fun.  I'm curious as to where he is now,

I have two favourite teachers currently, both of which I haven't seen in a while. The first was my science teacher during my first 3 years of high school, and the second was my geography teacher for GCSE. Can't really remember much for my science teacher expect while I had him I was actually interested in science and engaged more. Now my Geography teacher was just fun. During a lesson about rivers and all he got a table, started drawing on it and poured water over it.

From teachers I currently have my Retail tutor is probably my favourite, if mainly for the fact we got an entire lesson to eat food.

*musters past persona*

A good teacher is one that actually gives a damn about their student's success and not just for the profit. Depending on grade level that teacher has, they have to carry out necessary responsibilities for fostering the class. They're willing to give it their all; to accept criticisms of their teachings, being able to respond well to student's questions, spark lines of inspiration to pondering minds, and become entertaining and amiable to the crowd, all for the appointed amount of time. Some teachers may have more or less of each dimension, but every good teacher in a sense brings their own uniqueness in the teaching dimension and are able to use it well to interact with their students.

I've had some fun teachers in the past. One of my English teachers was an engaging Black dude that made penalized people for not doing their readings dance in the front of the class, and we occasionally pointed out jokes between reading sessions. My AP Chem teacher often had parties at the end of every quarter and exam and we would bring lots of food and bring movies.
