Yoga classes cancelled at University of Ottawa over 'cultural issues'

Keep the spam down, guys (at least try to contribute something productive to this discussion).

Thanks.

OT: I think the cancellations are over the top.

If no one had legitimate complaints about yoga (and I don't foresee any reason that you would), then it really should not have been cancelled.

All they're doing is just stretching, not the intimate parts of it.

Like that instructor mentioned, the cultural thing is probably more people making false claims that they're insulted.

---

Reading it again, the article notes the community as a whole is fine with yoga as a whole, and even some Hindus are pleased that we're doing it for health benefits (albeit against commercializing it).

"Most" Please don't drag this topic down with this stuff and have people post articles depicting the other side of this as bad as well, it's not going to help anyone.

"Please don't post articles showing how bad the other side has consistently got over the years."

Both of those incidents have blown up out of proportions and nobody has apologized for the irreparable damage they have caused. You don't consider this denying factual logic?

The problem is you're singling out the incidents that make your side look good only, and not taking the rest into account. You're, ironically, blowing it up out of proportions. As I said. "most"

And your quote, idk what you mean by that but my point is.

I could find articles that demonize your point of view, and those who share it, but I'm not. because linking a couple incidents and claiming they are proof that the entire ideological is flawed just isn't right.

I also don't appreciate the sensationalist way you tend to make your posts, because they seem to rely more on emotion and your personal ideals than they do pure logic, despite you claiming to be on the side of logic. Not meaning to offend just trying to explain why it's hard to discuss sometimes.

And now I have to bow out of another of these because it's going to a bad place for no reason.

You're still only pointing to two incidents outof lord knows how many.

These people do not speak for the majority, they never have, and they never will, and if you seriously think you can use just these two as justification for your argument that the "PC police" is willfully deaf to factual logic, then I dont know what to say to you.

It's like if I were to point to Tumblr as my measurement of what feminism is. You're using the worst examples deliberately, and selectively, to proove your point

I could point out numerous other Campus incidents, these things are happening constantly. You can scream "They are not majority" as much as you want. Numerous Colleges are adopting "Safe Space" policies, demonizing people who disagree, and expelling students for unsubstantiated claims. I can't point out one incident where anybody ACTUALLY went back on their decisions.

And if you think that Tumblr isn't a startlingly bad example of how bloated and toxic the Feminist movement has become, then we are going to endlessly disagree for awhile. It might not be a proper measurement of Feminism entirely, but it is a sign of an extraordinarily large amount of bad apples in a tree.

Guys, you're turning this down a road that it really doesn't need to go.

OT: yoga's the least offensive college class i can think of outside of math. it eases joints, helps blood circulation, and promotes overall wellness. not to mention yoga pants are the greatest gifts that fashion has blessed humanity with since bikinis, not to mention apparently the class was used to assist those with disabilities, so I'd personally say it's being even more helpful than usual. the benefits of a free yoga class far outweigh the negatives (are there even negatives?)

How is this even a thing? Who even decided this was offensive? It's basically stretching classes.
