Card A

FfBBWWz.jpg

2 Level 4 WIND monsters
When this card is Xyz Summoned: You can target 1 other WIND monster you control; return it to the hand, and if you do, this card can attack your opponent directly this turn. If this card would be destroyed, you can detatch all of its Xyz Material instead. If this card is targeted by an opponent's card effect: You can detatch 1 Xyz material from this card; this card gains 600 ATK.

Card B

kpjemT2.jpg
1 Psychic-type tuner + 1 or more non-tuner monsters
If this card battles an opponent's monster, negate any efffects currently targeting that monster. If this card attacks, you can activate this effect: the targeted monster is not destroyed by battle, also negate its effects until the next Standby Phase. You can only activate this effect of "Meowstic Species M" once per turn.

Card A

We're looking at either an adaptation of Prankster or Regenerator. Based on the first few effects, it looks like we're playing off Therian Forme's Regenerator and its synergy with U-Turn. Admittedly, Regenerator is a slightly awkward ability to adapt into Yugioh, but this first effect is pretty fine when trying to push for damage.

The next two effects are a little awkward, but on second read-through, I can understand how it goes, functioning as a one-off protection from destruction while granting an ATK boost if the offending card targets.

Altogether an alright R4, though changing its materials to make it purely generic shouldn't heavily alter its functionality.

Card B

We have a choice between Keen Eye, Infiltrator, or Prankster. Maybe a mix of all three at once.

I don't quite see it, but then again, these effects are a bit difficult to emulate in Yugioh. Negating everything and having the option to also negate the attack target's effects at the cost of not destroying it in battle sounds like a mixture of Fake Out and Prankster + Thunder Wave or Flash, "flinching" the target, rendering it unable to move and utilize whatever effects that assist it. Considering that Meowstic M plays as more of a supporter in Doubles, this is a pretty okay asset for a follow-up attack or removal of the offending monster. Its stats are a little low to emphasize it to prevent it from engaging in extended combat.

But that's a little issue with support - if they can't support anyone, they're a little frail on their own. You need an additional asset to follow up on Meowstic's stun, something you won't exactly see yourself having most of the time in Yugioh.

The Verdict

Vote to Card A. B has interesting design but the state of the game as it is right now makes it a little difficult to use effectively.

I can probably guess who made each card, given certain Pokemon preferences but I might be wrong,

Anyway...

Card A has Prankster reflected here, which allows it a direct attack. In this context, direct attacks would suit it well enough.

Then it has one-time destruction protection, coupled with a power bonus if it gets targeted via an effect.

Regarding the targeting/power effect, considering that Castel exists, the power bonus means nothing. Same with other common targeting things besides stat reduction and other things that aren't taking it off the field or negating its effects.

---

Card B can negate equips/other things and also gives the option of negating effects in exchange for not killing it in battle.

Suppose you can use it to strip "not destroyed by battle effects" or something, but that's about it.

Otherwise, it's a more restricted Breakthrough Skill (only works when this card battles a monster).

Materials, while they reflect Meowstic's typing, it limits how easily it can be brought out.

Granted, Yuki Usagi is a valid candidate for this card, but to be honest, I feel that you could just leave the materials as generic + it'd be fine. Being Psychic in Type alone is sufficient.

I guess you could use this in PSYFrames or something, but I don't think they have the space for it.

----

I don't know on this one.

Card A has a one-time direct attack thing with some degree of protection; as a non-generic Rank 4, it faces competition from other viable candidates.

In the Decks that CAN make this, most of the time, they'd have better options to go for. Again, suppose you can make this to push for game or something, but that's it.

Card B can negate stuff for a while, but bringing it out in the first place may not be the easiest thing for most Decks (unless they tech Yuki and make this). If the requirements were reversed, maybe this would see better usage. As-is, I don't think so.

--

Taking flavor into consideration, card A certainly reflects Tornadus's ability, albeit one that I feel could've been expressed better in terms of viability.

In B's case, I'm not sure what its effects are supposed to represent. Maybe a hybrid of its possible effects or its movesets; either one would've worked.

Card A gets it this time because it at least has a viable use / easier to summon, but overall I wasn't really impressed with either of them.
