"Don't lose sight of your convictions. Without them, we're nothing."

Identity Information
Name: Anaïs Balfon
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Rabans, Galtea
[spoiler=Appearance]

Height: 5"8 (172 cm) Weight: 132 lbs (60 kg)

[spoiler=Personality]
For most of her life, Anaïs has lived for the sole purpose of protecting Galtea and bringing honor to House Balfon. The sacrifices she has made and the personal hardships she has suffered from her time as a soldier have left her with a rather lonely soul and a heavy heart, but not a heavy conscience. In spite of everything, she remains firm in the strength and righteousness of her convictions. Although those who don't know her would describe her as a "hard woman," "superficial," or perhaps even "heartless," she is not a ruthless individual by any means. To the contrary, she holds both herself and her comrades to the highest of moral standards, believing that they are essentially what separate them from the enemy. Though she readily accepts her responsibilities and the cruel reality of kill or be killed as a soldier on the battlefield, as a woman, she refuses to hurt the innocent or protect the corrupt.

At the core of Anaïs' being is a respect for life in all its forms, a remnant of sorts from her childhood dreams to live an idyllic and peaceful life, which has somehow managed to survive despite years of training in warfare. While she takes enemy threats very seriously and always takes the actions necessary to neutralize them, she never uses lethal force if she can avoid it. Even though the Pontics have done more than enough to earn her hatred, she continues to regard them as mere adversaries to be defeated through military might and strategy, rather than evil monsters that must be destroyed. Her ability to suppress her own feelings and focus on the situation at hand has made her an excellent warrior, if not a particularly happy individual.

[spoiler=Biography]
Born into the main family of House Balfon, Anaïs is the seventh and youngest child as well as the only daughter of Lord Frances Balfon. Unlike her older brothers—all of whom grew up in the midst of flaring tensions at the Galtean-Pontic border—the first few years of her life were marked by the peace of a temporary ceasefire. This allowed her to cultivate interests atypical of most Balfon children, such as music and dance. While many of his senior advisers openly disapproved, Lord Frances supported his daughter in her pursuits, knowing all too well that peace was a precious commodity. For a moment, watching Anaïs put on shows with songs and choreographies of her own creation, he even dared to dream of a future where his daughter wouldn't be obliged to take up the sword to defend her homeland. A future where she would be free to live a life of her own. Then war came, relentless and bloody, and that was that. The end of one dream.

Taking her place alongside the other children of House Balfon, Anaïs received intensive training in warfare for many years and was also taught to put the needs of the Galtean people—especially those of the Royal Family—before her own. Conscious of her father's expectations and the family's motto, "Fortiter defendit triumphans" ("Triumphing by a brave defense"), she dedicated herself to bringing honor to the family by becoming the best soldier she possibly could. By combining her remarkable speed with the balance and flexibility she had honed through dance, she was able to develop her own distinctive style which quickly propelled her to the forefront of the new generation's most promising warriors. Her training complete at the age of 16, Anaïs spent the next few years dividing her time between the border skirmishes at the front lines and several assignments protecting nobles of varying importance throughout Galtea. During one of the former campaigns, her regiment was joined by none other than the crown princess and heir to the kingdom. Although Princess Catriona was two years younger, her courage and dedication to her people, as well as her willingness to put herself in harm's way, made a lasting impression on Anaïs, who genuinely felt—perhaps for the first time—that her sacrifices had been worth it.

Yet fate has a curious way of showing up when you least expect it. Or in this case, him. Rohns Colton wasn't a great warrior, descended from noble lineage. Quite the opposite, in fact. Yet there was something about his loud laugh, his warm smile, and his brown eyes that reached out to Anaïs and touched her in a way no man ever had before. A humble farmer with strong convictions, he had traveled from the Scute Hills far to the south, making his way north in order to lend his help to the forces fighting at the border. True, his hands were much more accustomed to wielding a hoe than a sword, but he was strong, kind, generous. Brave. During those three weeks at the border, Anaïs felt herself begin to dream again of a life of her own, far from the pain and death of war. A life where she could dedicate herself to tilling the earth, to mending and growing rather than killing. A life at Rohns' side. Years' worth of dreams blossomed within her like a flower twisting towards sunlight, so that when he finally proposed to her, it was with all her heart that she accepted. Yet fate has a curious way of showing up when you least expect it. Or them. The Pontics struck that night, swarming towards their camp, catching the regiment off-guard. Anaïs danced like never before, her blade singing as she cut down the enemy one by one, the ring on her finger glinting in the firelight. They won the skirmish, but dawn came too late for Rohns, his fingers curled in a deadman's grip around the sword he was never meant to wield. They buried him alongside the other fallen, Princess Catriona said a few solemn words, and that was that. The end of another dream.

Now a widow in all but name, Anaïs returned to Rabans, though no one knew the reason behind her sadness. In any case, she wasn't given much time to mourn. Less than a year later, Princess Catriona was kidnapped by the Order of Inera in an attempt to revive the goddess. After her escape, the princess stopped briefly at Rabans to send a message before heading to Sochen to meet with her younger sister, Princess Penelope. Realizing that time stops for no woman, Anaïs offered her help to Catriona in the name of House Balfon, joining her party and pledging to protect her during her quest.

[spoiler=Fighting Style]
When she was a very small child, before she was made aware of her responsibilities as a member of House Balfon, Anaïs enjoyed studying many different kinds of dance. At the time, her passion was looked upon with bemusement and even derision by her kinsmen, many of whom seemed personally affronted that one of their own should study something so frivolous. Their jeers died down, however, the moment she picked up her first sword. The rest is history.

Swift, graceful, and skillful beyond her years, Anaïs puts even the most accomplished ballerina to shame when she steps on the battlefield, earning her the nickname "The Dancing Blade." It's a mark of how much her talent is respected within House Balfon that her dancing—once the source of so much ridicule—has now become an irreplaceable part of her mystique. Her style is rather unique, pairing her superior speed with unusual movements that draw their origins from a variety of dance forms. It can be extremely disorienting, even overwhelming, for those not familiar with it, giving her an edge against the uninitiated. Unfortunately, however, a good number of these flashy moves leave her exposed, meaning her own defense suffers as a result, especially against those who can predict her attacks. Moreover, since she prioritizes finesse over brute force, she struggles to take out heavily armored targets. In combat, Anaïs makes ample use of her superior height, long limbs, and natural flexibility to strike from afar, allowing her to punish the enemy's slightest mistake.

[spoiler=Inventory]

  • Aurore: An elegant straight sword with an elaborate guard (depicted above), whose name translates as "Dawn." Upon completing her training, Anaïs received this weapon, indicating her status as a full-fledged warrior of House Balfon. It has seen her through many battles, including her time at the front lines. Like most weapons employed by her family, the blade is of excellent quality and is crafted to resist oxidation and breakage while remaining razor-sharp.
  • Copper Ring: Worn on a chain around her neck and tucked underneath her clothes, this is all that Anaïs has left of her deceased fiancé, Rohns. While it is virtually invisible, it serves as a constant reminder of everything that has been lost and everything at stake if the goddess Inera cannot be defeated and the Galtean-Pontic border secured.

Interested but a bit confused, why are you (Cow and Seth) using classes not listed? Is it because they're special characters or can we use all FE classes?

Yes, and no. We're using unlisted classes cause these are our host characters. Lord and Tactician are both classes that are unique and so we didn't want people using them besides hosts.

If there is a class you want that's not listed you can talk to us about it, might be able to do something.

Are the classes and progression set in stone? I'm kind of disappointed that Thief is weak in combat :( Like, I can understand that they wouldn't have much physical strength and probably no access to magic, but I do like the idea of the Thief being really fast with their weapons.. Especially if they are supposed to become an Assassin later.

Compared to Myrmidons and Mercenaries yes they're weak in combat. Doesn't mean they can't get stronger/be strong. They're just generally weaker when it comes to straight up combat.

[spoiler=So I heard you had a problem with Lances]

Identity Information
Name: Alois Reinhardt
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Phar, Histia
[spoiler=Appearance]

Hp5jbvB.jpg?1

Height: 5'5" (166 cm)

Weight: 137 lbs (62 kg)

[spoiler=Personality]

Cocky, smug and a bit of a pompous attitude to go along with it. Alois is not exactly the most easy to get along with kind of guy. He has a pretty tactless way of speaking towards others and never seems to care about any sort of implied respect that needs to be given, just sort of saying what he thinks mostly. He generally talks in a sarcastic manner, often times taking pleasure in teasing others on small things. He also seems to have a rather arrogant way of portraying himself, often times coming off as though he thought he were invincible. And while this is not at all true, if criticized on the overall sloppy way he fights or for any sort of ignorance he possesses, he seems to just brush it off. Mostly seeming to have a carefree demeanor about himself and having no shortage on confidence, he just seems like a rude, uncouth person.

Alois is a much more serious individual than he would let on, though. While he doesn't seem to posses any respect towards others, it's more so a product of him being a fan of earning respect,, ironically enough, rather than just sort of having it as a given. To those who do earn his respect, he tends to just lighten up a bit more towards them, rather than ever acting overly friendly. Aware of his faults, Alois is aware of how bad of a fighter he is, and while he does shrug of most criticism, he tends to take the ones of people he respects to heart. Also aware of his own lack of intelligence, he doesn't ever really care for planning and doesn't pretend like he's a military genius about it either. Despite all of this, Alois tries to be a reliable at the very least. Even if he doesn't ever seem like he cares, he's still a person who genuinely tries to be helpful to those who are in need.

[spoiler=Bio]

Alois had always felt bored since he could remember. Growing up, he always seemed to be a bit of an oddball amongst his people. He had a sense of wanderlust within him that wasn't too common and wasn't well received either. The isolated little town of Phar's residence often times had chastised him for venturing too far away from the confines of the town and tried to do their best to keep him from doing it again. Of course, this had made him a bit of a social pariah with his peers, which didn't help in trying to coax him away from the borders. Nevertheless, the young boy had always felt like there was far more to the world than just the village, and as such, he just wanted to learn what was out there. So, he had decided to make a continued effort in trying to leave the village, and leave behind this "island."

Being an isolationist does not mean you have a lack of bandit problems. And so, knowing that he'd need to be strong, he trained himself to help the town out. Of course, with no lack of formal training and the fact that he seemed little more than a rebellious teenager at the time, the village guard had a hard time accepting him, ultimately his brutish fighting style proved to be rather helpful to them. And so, he began to help the guard out. While he proved to be effective at this job, he still seemed to have the same sense of longing in him that had been visible since his childhood, and thus was still not well liked by the rest of the guard. Because of this, it came as no surprise to anyone on the day when, during a patrol, he had decided to go farther away from town than he should have and just kept going. Not doing this in any subtle a manner and with the others not trying to stop him, he was home free and with nothing more than a few axes on his back was off to start a journey.

Of course he was completely lost. Not having any idea where anything was on a map and having no clue where he was in general, Alois had continued to roam around going whatever general direction struck his fancy. By some miracle, Alois had managed to find different conveniences that allowed him to not die on his journey, and had eventually, unknowingly, crossed borders into Galtea. While he continued to wander around the country, he eventually stumbled upon the fleeing princess who seemed to be in a need of aid. Given that the total amount of productive things that he had done in this journey was zero and she seemed genuinely distressed, Alois had gone to offer his services to her. This didn't go over so well at first, in part due to his uncouth behavior, he eventually managed to join this princess's marry little band on what seemed to be a grand journey ahead.

Unrefined and without style, Alois relies more so on brute force than anything else. He tends to try his best at getting as close to his enemy as possible before striking at them, in order to give them less time to react and is not afraid to use his body to fight in addition to his axe. This method generally tends to work against lancers and the inexperienced, sword wielders and the experienced are a bit of a sore spot with it.

Okay, first off, great apps. Second off, I'm going to put the cut-off for sword-users here, in order to prevent us from getting overwhelmed with sword-users, since that's five sword-users out of seven people. It's a flexible line though, and if you really want to go with a sword, message me or Cow (or both), but keep in mind no more than two to a class allowed.

[spoiler=Hoofed and Staffed]

"The Goddess ain't s***, but damn does she give some great powers"

Identity Information
Name: Malu'kai Fendret.
Age: 32 years.
Gender: Androgyne (They/Them).
Birthplace: Goi, Locris, traveled to Atali Steppe often.
[spoiler=Appearance:]

tumblr_nyb7d4VS191sl09wzo1_400.jpg

6' even 168lbs. Typically has staff on back.

[spoiler=Personality:]

Malu'kai is opinionated and not afraid to show it. Not only do are they openly opposed to worshiping the Goddess despite being a Troubadour, they also go so far as to imply that there's no such thing as bad magic. They are staunchly planted in these opinions and will not hesitate to argue about them, no matter it be with friend or foe. Besides their opinions on magic and the Goddess, they also believe that some problems just can't be solved and should be accepted, like being chased away from your home for pursuing something you love.

Despite the bitter outlook and arguable opinions, Malu'kai is a softie when it comes to animals and children. They tend to use "baby voice" when talking to animals, and they always bend down so that they can be eye-level with children. If they encounter a child/ animal in distress, they will do everything in their power to alleviate the problem, which may or may not include bonking people with a staff.

If their personality was a song, it would be Song 4 (Yon no Uta) By BABYMETAL

The one who refuses to eat meat. Born March 18th

[spoiler=Biography:]

Growing up on the plains of Locris was both a blessing and a curse to Malu'kai. The summers they spent in Goi were delightful and filled with discovery. The discovery of Igrid, their dear horsey companion, and the discovery of their craft: Magic.

On their 21st birthday, Malu'kai received a young colt who had lost its mother. Though the locals regarded this as a sign of bad luck and wanted the young foal to perish, Malu'kai's parents thought that it would be an excellent opportunity to teach their child about responsibility and nurturing, and perhaps one day would encourage them to become a horseknight of some sort. As the years passed, Malu'kai and Igrid grew to be the best of friends, herding game on together on the Atali Steppe in the winters and resting and playing in the summers.

One day in the cool winter air, Malu'kai and Igrid went riding to the northeast of Goi, right to the boarder of Pontus. It was there that a terrible accident happened. In the slightly snowy terrain, Igrid had stepped into a hole and broken a leg, flinging Malu'kai right off. Malu'kai new as well as anyone that a broken leg was nearly the same as a death sentence to a horse, but they pleaded for a way so that they would not lose their closest friend. Then came a light, glinting green in the snowdrift which Malu'kai fell into. It was the body of a Pontus priest, complete with staff and prayer book.

As desperate as they were, Malu'kai looted the body. Unfortunately for them. They found no healing ointments or concoctions of any kind. On the verge of tears, they read through the book to see if it would ease their pain. As they read about the healing touch of the Goddess and her wondrous feats, Malu'kai did weep, but in joy. They found a way to save their friend. Holding the staff in one hand and the prayer book opened with the other, Malu'kai prayed to the Goddess to heal their friend. As luck would have it, the Goddess's powers crept into the staff, and Igrid's leg was healed completely.

Overjoyed by the miracle that had happened, Malu'kai rode back to Goi to tell the others what had happened. However, when they arrived, they were met with hostility by the permanent locals. The residents had had enough of the bad omens running around, and a staff upon the back of the rider of that same bad omen only made things worse. Malu'kai was chased from the town into the wilds of Pontus's Trapezues Region.

It was there that Malu'Kai learned how to harness the power of the Goddess. They didn't have to pray like they did the first time, they merely had to wish, to want. Though what they wanted most was to be able to return home, they knew that not even magic would sway the hearts of the Goi people. For years, Malu'kai foraged the desolate landscape for edible things, even if it meant having to trap a few innocent animals.

One day, while doing such scavenging, Malu'kai stumbled upon some people walking through the region. They were talking about how the princess of Galtea had been captured and was being brought to Pontus, and how they were on their way to see the little brat suffer. Though Malu'kai knew that it didn't concern them, a child, it seemed, was in danger. So, they gathered up what little belongings they had and followed the people, keeping a fair distance but enough to keep track of them.

When they finally arrived at the ominous shrine, they say that a girl was tied up upon the pedestal. Upon seeing this and a knife within a close proximity, Malu'kai promptly left the building. Positioning themselves where they thought would be directly behind the girl, The took the staff from their back and spoke. "That girl in there. Bring her here. I want her to be safe." As they spoke the words, the staff began to glow a soothing grassy-green. A muffled cheer was heard from inside, and Malu'Kai could only have guessed what happened. "Damn it, I need that girl safe! Get her out here now!" As they shouted this, the staff burst into a brilliant emerald light, blinding Malu'kai for a moment. As the light faded, Malu'kai felt a thump on their back, and that same girl that they had seen inside was right there behind them, a bloodstain on their clothes. "We're outta here," Malu'kai said as they replaced the staff on their back.

It was later on that the princess awoke and informed Malu'kai of her situation and where they could go. Riding Igrid as fast as they dared, Malu'kai and Catriona arrived at Penelope's fort in due time.

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 165lbs

[spoiler=Personality]

A simple young man of simple desires and means, Edrick is far more used to the life of a farmer than that of a wandering fighter. He can look at a patch of ground and tell you three different crops that would grow the best on it, and even describe in detail how best to till the soil and plant them. He knows how to prepare the ground for heavy winter snows, and make sure the good soil doesn't wash away in spring when that snow melts. Pretty much everything you need to make a farm work in the foothills of a mountain. That's the life he's used to and what he best likes in the world. Rising before the sun and going to bed when it sets. Still, like any young man, he's had his dreams of adventuring and traveling the whole of the world.

Above all he values honesty, and holding to one's word. If he says he is going to do something, it is only a matter of time until he actually does it. This does also mean that he has distaste in the extreme for liars, and for those that don't do their business out where everyone can see. As with most farmers, he has a long enough memory that he can recount every wrong ever done to him and the way it ended up being put right. Of course he also remembers those that have done right by him, and exactly how they did right so that he can repay them when the time comes.

In general, Edrick is a little rough around the edges. He tends to say exactly what he thinks at any given time, regardless of whether or not the situation calls for it. He is quite friendly though, wanting to make any that haven't made him angry feel welcome wherever he is. Maybe this makes him a bit more trusting than would be healthy, but he tends to make life hard for those who betray his trust. While Edrick certainly is not a coward, it's fairly obvious that he doesn't have that much experience in a fight. He in fact prefers to avoid fighting if he can, and can sometimes lose his nerve depending on who he's fighting at the time.

Like all Pontics, Edrick is an ardent worshiper of the goddess Inera, and prays to her frequently throughout the day. He even displays an amount of zeal towards that worship that would not be out of place in one of the religious orders devoted to her. Of course he would love to see her return in proper, but he does not believe that such should be accomplished through the sacrifice of an unwilling girl. Rather, he would argue that if a sacrifice is necessary for her to return it should be someone who agrees to fill such a role out of their own devotion to her. He also takes a very dim view of magic that does not have its root in the goddess herself, and may be moved to violence if this magic is what he believes to be especially offensive to the goddess.

[spoiler=Biography]

Born to Roran and Katrina, Edrick lived the whole of his young life in a village too small to put on the map. It lay on the banks of the Lanti, a river that runs cold out of The Farpeaks and feeds Lake Amphis, and most in it tended fields to feed themselves and to sell what they could. It was in this simple life that Edrick grew, helping his father tend the fields while his older sister helped their mother. When Edrick turned 15, he took over the family farm while his parents moved to a house in the village proper. They left him the tools of the trade, and a new draft horse they had bought when the old one died: a young red roan mare named Elba.

Elba was "the most stubborn effing mare you ever tried to get to pull a plow." Every day of breaking the ground was a challenge, and Edrick had to learn every little way to coax her into actually working since she didn't respond to normal forceful methods. Still, for the first growing season on the farm he was able to get a fairly good crop out of it and even grew fond of the stubborn mare. It was just as his first harvest alone was rolling in that misfortune struck. He woke to a ruckus outside his house in the night, and emerged with a torch lit from the fire to see a strange robed figure riding off on Elba's back. He gave chase where he could, but he couldn't ever hope to catch a running horse. The thief made enough noise that he woke the town, and the story spread quickly of Edrick's misfortune. Still, he refused offers of another horse. When the harvest came, he made sure his family had enough to feed themselves through the winter and sold the rest.

The money from this harvest, meager as it was compared to what to those living in cities would have, he put to preparing for a long journey on foot. He even went so far as to take the scythe he had used since he could stand and turn it into something of a spear. He said his goodbyes to friends and family, and set off in the direction the thief had gone in the hopes of catching them before winter struck. He failed, but even through the winter he carried on with his journey.

Edrick went on so very far from where he once had been that he found himself in Histia near the border with Galtea, and came across a pair of women and their company on the road. They were waylaid by bandits, and not one to stand by he rushed to aid them. He assisted that party in driving them off, and once introductions and explanations of purpose were given he decided to join the group. After all, maybe someone in Ithome had heard of the thief and his horse.

[spoiler=Fighting Style]

No longer able to rely on sweeping blows with a warscythe to cut his enemies apart, Edrick has begun working on how to properly fight with a spear. Thanks to some lessons from Link Harkinian, he has learned how to properly thrust with the weapon. Of course he is still fairly clumsy, but as strong as he is one hit is probably enough.

[spoiler=Inventory]

Gold: 440

Iron Lance: A sturdy spear tipped with an iron head, and the first proper weapon Edrick has wielded. While he is less familiar with it than he was with his Warscythe, he is most certainly better off with it in the long run. For one, it's less liable to break when he stabs someone with it. As the first has begun to wear down, Edrick has acquired a second one to replace it when it breaks.

Bazba's Armor: Armor taken from the slain bandit chief Bazba, Edrick ended up with it because of a discussion about the merits of wearing armor with Penelope. Initially ill-fitting, it has since been fitted to him by the blacksmith Jake, whom he assisted the party in rescuing from Bazba's bandits. While the combination of leather and metal leaves a number of places exposed, the added protection is certainly better than nothing.

Frog Gambeson: A suit of padded armor given to the Lancer by the Frog Proteans, it provides some protection while remaining light and easy to move around in. Additional armor can be worn over it to offer further protection, and the padding makes doing so more comfortable. Inadvisable in hot environments.

Backpack: A pack carried on his back, filled with the essentials for a long journey. It's almost entirely foodstuffs meant to last for a very long time, along with a bedroll and a heavy blanket for when it gets cold.

Devotional Icon: A small pendant bearing an image of the Goddess Inera, hung from a leather cord and worn about his neck at all times. Edrick believes that it serves in speeding his prayers on to the goddess, and that it is a blessed item for which he should care. As a rusted iron cross with the depiction of a crow's skull in the center, it is recognizable as depicting her War and Death aspect.

Holy Water: A glass bottle, covered in devotional iconography of the Goddess Inera, contains a small amount of blessed water which provides protection against magic to those anointed with it for a time.

Empty Elixir Bottle: A bottle that once contained some of the legendary potion known as Elixir. Now it is little more than a plain glass bottle. Perhaps there is some use to be found?

Empty Zeilla Bottle: A large, clear glass bottle that once held some Zeilla, a favorite Pontic drink distilled from grain and berries. The bottle itself is large enough that it once held enough alcohol for the entire party to drink.

Looking good, Keto. :)

Okay, since this is getting more active, I'm going to put up a skype chat for this. Tell me if you want in and stuff.

We have access to the Skype chat before we know if we were accepted or not? In any case, yes please!

EDIT: Ketodama, I totally clocked that Eragon reference lol.

Noice. My skype name is zodiacearriorgemini and also my question about diff species still hasn't been answered

Sorry, I missed that.

The Great Dragon is the only dragon in existence, as far as the inhabitants of Mysia are concerned.

In terms of other species, there are a few wild places in Mysia that could hold other species. I left it open because while it's easier if most people just play human beings, if somebody wanted to play a shapeshifter or if I decided to input them into the RP I could.

Btw if anybody wants to play a shifter, send me a message with what animal or just post an app here and Cow or I'll probably approve it if it's not OP.

Edit: I added a FAQ section answering some common questions.
