Mystical Refpanel

Activate only when a Spell Card that targets 1 player is activated. The effect of that Spell Card is applied to the other player instead.

So, this card has been coming up in a lot of discussions about "bad" cards. I have, however, found out that this thing can be a force. It can chain to Raigeki, which is cool, and any drawing spell that doesn't affect both players.

So, discuss this card, and how it can be used today.

The concept of all the things this works with "targeting players" honestly makes no sense. Like, that isn't how targeting works.

I mean, if this were ever to be erreta'd to make more sense (Kappa) it'd probs be like "a spell only effects 1 player", since that's what seems to be happaning with this card.

the main problem for this is that people not sure which card card this can counter due to unclear "Targeting Player" mechanic....

and even if they do there's still not many target...if it can hit all type of effect maybe, but only spell....cant work on spell effect

too so it cant hit pendulum effect....

That card maybe useful (like you mentioned) but i'm not sure if i would use it at DN (Yaaaaay, y'know people there? When you explain some weird ruling they're unaware of? Start to call you cheating etc etc etc.)

Even though i said that^, still curious . . . what people of DN would response when i activate this *evilgrin*

See, this is one of the reasons I've stuck to MtG - they've got cards with more distinct multiplayer impact so we don't need house rules to see who gets affected by opponent-specific effects.

Targeting players should also become a thing in Yugioh, so we get more, clearly defined, keks out of cards like this.

Mystical Refpanel can be Chained to cards that do the following:

1. Increase 1 player’s Life Points.

2. Inflict Direct Damage to 1 player’s Life Points.

3. Allow 1 player to draw a card(s) from the top of their Deck to their hand.

4. Cause 1 player to discard from their hand.

5. Modify the actions 1 player can take, such as Mesmeric Control.

If you Chain Mystical Refpanel to your opponent’s Spell, then it is still considered to be your opponent’s effect regardless of which player it ends up applying to.

You cannot Chain Mystical Refpanel to cards like Card Destruction or Upstart Goblin that target multiple players. You cannot use it against Equip, Continuous, or Field Spells.

It cannot be Chained to cards like Share The Pain, Raigeki, or Harpie's Feather Duster.

It cannot be Chained to Spells that would send cards from a player’s Deck to the Graveyard, even if that Spell would do one of the above things. (Examples, Foolish Burial, Solar Recharge)

It can be Chained to the effect of a Spell Card that was sent to the Graveyard and then later activated by Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude if that Spell Card would do one of the above.

You can Chain Mystical Refpanel to Pot of Duality. If you Chain Mystical Refpanel to your opponent’s Pot of Duality, you will reveal the top 3 cards of your Deck and add 1 to your hand, but your opponent will be the one who cannot Special Summon that turn.

Just some rulings. I loved the last one though *evilgrin*

soo...basically only work to spell that only affect player action (raigeki affect monster), and that only affect 1 player....that's way too specific.....

Wasn't this card like battle city's living arrow? At the very least it was hard to understand how it worked. Maybe it was just bad dubbing making it hard.

That cold feet combo is interesting, but sadly cold feet isn't worth much on its own,

I think the anime version was almost literally "An opponent's Spell Card is now treated as you using it".

Because based on Wiki, Yugi used it against Beckon to Darkness (this affects monsters), Mask of Brutality (targets monsters), and Meteor of Destruction (this is legit), but chose to take Meteor's damage anyway. So I guess it was more like "When your opponent uses a Spell Card, you can switch the target to another monster or player".

The card art always looked like the elf's clothes re-arranged in that way to make a seal, but in the anime the elf is completely naked and the the mirror has a more solid-looking blue margin. Hmm.....

It's problem is being too dependent on the opponent, and for very uncommon kinds of effects like burn/heal coming from Spell Cards.

I guess the new Monarchs draw with their Spell Card often enough, and I'm not sure if Spells with searching effects a la RotA would also be counterable with this (granted, you need legal targets in your deck iirc even if it could)
