Burgesstoma [Deep Water]

Well since dn got new burgess, i decided to make a deck and i had decent match ups versus kozmo and specters and almost everything else. Dn is being a bad boy yet again, so this will be a written version :

 

Main Deck ( 40 cards ) :

 

( I do not run monsters and i never needed them, 2 are in side)

 

Spells (4 Cards)

3 X Twin Twister ( Fills up the graveyard, gets rid of traps that kill the deck and floodgates like decree, cosmos etc)

1 X Raigeki (Standard Board Wipe)

 

Traps (36 Cards)

Burgesstoma Dinomischus X 3 (Fills up grave, also gets rid of problem cards and banish is a welcome perk)

Burgesstoma Pikaia X 3 (Again filler and solid draw power to maintain advantage)

Burgesstoma Canadia X 3 ( A semi-Book of Moon and helps disrupt plays, why not ? )

Burgesstoma Olenoidas X 3 (S/T pop, helps get rid of backrow)

Burgesstoma Hallucigenia X 3 (Helps get over big things or just turn something into a pushover monster)

Burgesstoma Eldonia X 3 (Helps buff up your monsters a bit more, just found it useful )

Reckless Greed X 3 (Great draw power and helps get things faster)

Accumulated Fortune X 3 (Great draw power again, chain link 4 is easily achieved once you get enough traps in grave)

Imperial Iron Wall X 3 (Helps you get unlimited resources and continuous spam ability while killing RB, Kozmo and Infernoids at the same time)

Solemn Notice X 3 (Great disruption, helps get through tricky situations)

Storming Mirror Force X 3 (Nice trap card, board clearance with some added bonus, i found it more useful than normal mirror during tests)

Xyz Reborn X 1 (Revive any Burgess xyz and get their trap detach effect for free, pretty useful as a 1 tech)

Aegis Of The Ocean Dragon Lord X 2 (Protects your burgesstoma monsters from board wipes or attacks to keep the momentum going, again a tech i found useful)

 

Extra Deck ( 15 cards )

Burgesstoma Anomalocaris  X 3 (Great Xyz, makes great plays while being very offensive at the same time, monster effect immunity is sweet)

Burgesstoma Opabinia X 3 (Great floater, setup and speed provider with medium defense to sit on)

Sky Cavalry Centaurea X 3 (A great generic rank 2, battle immunity and helps get rid of problem cards easily)

Cat Shark X 1 (can help boost random rank 2 and good combo with phoenix))

Number F0 : Utopic Future X 1 (Can overlay dead Xyz's with no material into something useful, great tech with awesome effects and a free snatch steal)

Armored Kappa X 1 (Filler, a semi defense option, grave fill and great battle phase protect ability, otk and burn negater)

Number 96 :Dark Mist X 1 (A tamed version of Dark Rebellion, helps get over problem monsters and the power boost is permanent making it a good beater)

Daigusto Phoenix X 1 (Double attacker, can go to 2000 with eldonia or even 3000 with shark)

Gachi Gachi Gentatsu X 1 (Defense option, makes other xyz's big)

 

 

Side Deck ( 15 Cards)

Mistake X 3 ( Does not hurt this deck much, greatly hurts some great decks)

Light-Imprisoning Mirror X 2 (Tellars, and psyframe bosses i guess)

Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror X 2 (Dark decks and disruption)

Mind Drain X 2 (Psyframe stop and a decent tech)

Mask Of Restrict X 2 (Again, stops a lot of recent decks including monarch)

Drastic Drop-Off X 2 (Great card, counter trap and can snipe farmgirl search)

Maxx "C" X 2 (Great hand trap and another draw option).

 

So, thats its, i had decent matchups against all good decks, So what do you guys think.

Would greatly appreciate critic and improvement options.

A few flaws I've found:

 

  • with IIW up, you can't use burg dino, since cards can't be banished. 
  • Cat Shark specifies monsters, and burgs are traps when used as mats, so cat will be destroyed if rammed into. 
  • All burgs are immune to ALL monster effs, so cat shark and gantetsu won't give them any boosts. 

Suggestions:

  • putting some monsters in deck isn't a bad thing, since you can and will get stomped on if you don't have/ can't establish frontrow fast. Back jack, cat of ill omen, and mask of darkness are a few okay choices.
  • cat shark is joke in this deck, and pheonix isn't too hot either. I'd consider dropping them for something else. Maybe socuteboss, since it can make an attack lock and make monster zones useless.
  • Also don't forget that only counter traps can be chained to counter traps, so no plays off notice and drop-off

Actually Cat shark at one is pretty good, if solely for the fact that it effectively quadruples Phoenix's attack.  Not like there are that many better options for rank 2s anyway.

 

Although indra, you are incorrect about Cat Shark's anti-destruction effect.  Notice how it says "[...] material that was originally WATER [...]".  Even though Burgs are WATER on the field, and are NOT treated as trap cards, the word originally means base conditions; i. e. if I were to pick up that card IRL and read it's stats aloud, what would I find?  Burgs, originally are traps with no attribute.

You might want to add "Wetlands" and "Terraforming", to give your Burgesstoma a bit more power. Also Denko Sekka will severly hurt your deck, if you do not have a answer for her.

Yeah, i indeed misread the cat shark effect but still she is very useful, i will not use monsters cause that is serving me well, i will replace dinomischus with another burg and notice and drop-off are there to stall and disrupt the opponent other than burgess spam. Thanks for the input, i will also try wetlands and post the changes i found later today.
