When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can make your LP become 4000. You take no effect damage. If this face-up card on the field would be destroyed, you can banish 1 Equip Spell Card from your Graveyard instead.

Power Tool Dragon was my first actual card (from the tin), and the first, and only, ghost rare I've pulled from a pack, with me now attempting to collect every rarity of each in near-mint quality. I've always loved it and Life Stream dragon, but they're such hard cards to use, especially Life Stream. Of course, PTD can be used very well in equip decks (Bamboo Swords come to mind as a hilarious option for it, even if cursed can't activate off its protection), but LSD...Has a very hard time fitting in.

I'd like to make some sort of deck that can incorporate the latter into its actual strategies, but right now it seems impossible.

At present, Life Stream Dragon kinda doesn't have a Deck to call its own, bar Rua/Leo.dek.

That, and it didn't get much screentime in the anime when it debuted (only two appearances, and Rua only summoned it once), but that's something else.

 

As much as we'd like to hope that Konami makes an Equip archetype to make Life Stream relevant, chances are that it won't happen.

Would it be easier to use if Power Tool WASN'T a mandatory material for it (breaking flavor aside)? That's probably why LSD isn't seeing much, if any usage.

 

Looking at it, I'd say that it wouldn't do too much even then.

Burn prevention is nice though, but that's probably about its only salvation.

Ah, I recall a friend who runs Morphtronics.dek. Power Tool is one of his heavy hitters and enforcers barring the Boarden-Boomboxen OTK, and he runs a stray Life Stream Dragon specifically to piss me off. While the lack of compatible LV1 Tuners has prevented me from needing to ever stand against Life Stream, the presence of Smarfon might change that.

 

On the other hand, there's competition for the spot between Power Tool and Duel Dragon Power Tool...

You'd be right @ Power Tool as material. That and it doesn't really do much besides protect your LP, which is irrelevant.

 

I really wish LSD had got a Duel Dragon counterpart.

Power tool I see all the time to fetch refusion and DDR for Ftk combos.

 

LSD is an option for Ultimaya tzolkin.

 

Its a shame they took out the level modulating effect.

I used them AGES ago in a weird Plant Synchro Equip Deck that used stall Plant tactics (like Naturia Cherries, Lord Poison, etc) and Equips such as Mark of the Rose and Vengeful Servant. Power Tool was to help gather the combo pieces so I could essentially steal their monsters for massive damage, and then equip with Vengeful Servant to burn them to death when Mark of the Rose swapped control back. In case my strategy was going to backfire (due to the same combo enabling ME to get burned), Life Stream was an option that'd protect me and also be borderline unkillable due to the Equips in the Graveyard.

 

It also got to use Black Rose Dragon and Thorn of Malice.

 

Needless to say, the Deck is probably terrible even back then.
