Given the new November format that essentially culled Nekroz, BA and Qliphort, among others, does this card still have the utility it had the last few formats, or do the new decks simply render this card mediocre?

If you know what ship the opponent has in hand, this can do well to blank the effects of Kozmo, for what that is worth.

Seems a pretty decent card against Majespecters considering most of what they do is search. At least for now while Toad and Supercell aren't here yet.

yeah, if you know the deck you're facing, then you can preempt them by calling out their key cards, especially pendulum decks since if you hit them in hand they don't get to go to the graveyard. it might not always work, but it's worth the risk. not to mention some of the upcoming decks will still use searchers, so it's worth at least a side decking.

While people still add cards from their deck or grave to their hand, this card is a reliable 1 for 1 which hits cards where they least expect it. It also wrecks PSY-Frames!!!

I was thinking of this card yesterday and also wondering if it would be any good post-Nov.9. Calling on the right spaceship after a lesser Kozmo banishes itself would be so sweet, but I don't know how effective the Trap would be against the rest of the emerging competitive decks.

It's about as good against Specters as it was against Qliphort and tbh it's almost as good against Kozmo as it was against Nekroz. It'll just wait to be seen if the increase in Yang Zing and Infernoid offsets the decrease in Shaddoll.

It's still damn strong against Kozmo. And while we're at it, I have to imagine it's good against EmEm too, at least to an extent.

It's not significantly better than any other trap that could possibly be set such as Notice vs EMem, I definitely wouldn't mind trading 1 free card to remove 1 backrow.

I'd say it's only good T1 against Performa-variants.

 

It does stop them if you hit their key sheet and they don't have another means to find it, but 1-for-1 is really bad against the deck. CDI doesn't stop the variants on its own, as they have so many plays, and Mind Crush falls under this.

 

Mistake is the way to go there.

Mistake can just shut down Farmgirl completely, but that can't stop the floatiness the spaceships have when their members are banishing themselves and reviving themselves with Kozmotown. Mind Crush will still be extremely effective to stop them along with Imperial Iron Wall. Other upcoming decks like Infernoids and Yang Zings won't honestly be affected that much at all. Existing and survival veteran decks like BA and Satellars still can be affected by this card in a way as well. In general, depending on how the opponent plays, it's a viable side deck card unless Kozmos are going to have more occurrence.
