Tripping Over the King's Shoes (Casual Worms)

Yo, Haloh here. So, I figured I'd let you pick apart my deck (and thus my deck building skills) by giving you a look at my Casual Worm Deck. I'm in the process of building it to fit the current meta, so I'll be borrowing cards from this deck to add to the other one. (Kategokage will make BLS so easy lol). I'll answer some issues you may have with the deck that I've thought of. Please give me feedback, positive or negative.

Okay, so, first off, the Main Deck. Fifty cards, I know I know. Terrible. But, my reasoning? The Worms themselves aren't powerful. At all. Trying to run 40 of these suckers with some decent spells and traps means I run out of cards FAST. And having to waste precious trap space on Jar of Avarice just isn't worth it when I could run mass destruction or banishment cards.

Next: 28 Monsters? Okay, this, I can remedy, with ease. Why don't I? Simple: this deck's Win Condition is making an endless stream of Kings until your graveyard fills to the point where you can special set Victory and wipe the field for days. Then, attack with a massive 7000+ attack easy. So, obviously, I need plenty of Worms. And, if that doesn't work, I could always Poly into a 3000 beater known as Zero. Use all 3 effects, and replenish my resources. Kinda.

Then: Tech Monsters, wherefore art thou? Simple: I want 800 attack from my Solidarity. Puts my already powerful King at 3500 and pretty much seals peoples fate if I can get out Victory, since he's automatically at 800 Atk. Add that on to the endless stream of Worms to my grave, and he can only get stronger. Plus, my Monster Reborn of the deck, Viper's Rebirth, requires me to only have Reptile-Type Monsters. Yeah. Bummer. No Neo-Spacian Grand Get-Rid-Of-Beelze for me.

Followed by: Lightning Vortex? Really? Hear me out on this one: 1. Raigeki = Expensive. Lightning Vortex = Very Cheap. 2. This deck needs to feed its hungry graveyard. Lightning Vortex only helps. Even if it doesn't destroy face-downs.

+Also, if this is the case, I need to run Dark World Dealings, for the potential draw power. That, I know, I need.

Finally: Only 9 Traps? In a deck filled to the brim with weak monsters? And no Fiendish Chain? Again, I did my best with what I had. Good cards are expensive. I was barely able to afford those two Mirror Forces. Plus, if you don't run 3 W Nebula Meteorite, you clearly have no idea what you're doing with Worms.

To end with; what's with the xtra Deck? Meh. Not many Reptile-Types out there. And I was too lazy to buy 3 King of Feral Imps. Plus, you so rarely go into him that I've found one's enough. Gagagigo's there for beater essence and to put fear into my foes. Nobody likes seeing people overlay, and seeing them overlay 3 can only spell bad news. Of course, having no effect makes him a sitting duck. And I run Zero because... meh. I really have no reason for it. I should cut it and Poly, but with my circle of dueling friends, it's become my staple.

Suggestions are more than welcome on how to make this deck meta!

As I said before, Raigeki is pretty expensive where I am, or, at least at the store. I don't think I've mentioned this before (even if I think it should be obvious) but this is the deck I have in real life. I can only spend so much money on cards, and some of them are obscenely expensive (honestly, who wants to spend more than a buck or two on a trading card?) I'm not spending $10+ on cards like Raigeki when suitable substitutes such as Lightning Vortex exist, which do the same thing, while helping my deck.

You see, Worms are all about having a good Graveyard. If you have Worm Yagan in your Graveyard, you can set up some good plays there. Same thing with Worm Queen + Viper's Rebirth. Lightning Vortex has a similar effect to Raigeki, but it also lets me send Monsters like Worm Yagan and Worm Queen to the Grave so I can use their effects later, letting me set up massive combos.

50 Card main is something I'm working on, as well. It's something I'm going to change when I obtain all the cards I think I need to actually make this deck seriously meta. For now though, I'm letting it be a casual deck that I use at locals and with my friends. I wouldn't take this deck to Regionals if my life were bet on it winning, however.

As for the 3 cards in the Extra deck, well, as I said before, certain cards and combos in the deck (Solidarity and Viper's Rebirth) require me to only have ONE Type of Monster in my Graveyard. For me, that's Reptiles since all my monsters are Reptile-Type. Unfortunately, there aren't many synergistic Reptile-Type Synchros, XYZs, or Fusion Monsters I can put in my deck that wouldn't make it even more cloggy than it actually is. Thus, the 3 card Extra Deck. Don't worry man. I know this deck has major room for improvement, but that's why I put it on here, for people to make card and combo suggestions to help me build this deck over again and make it meta.

tl;dr - Lightning Vortex is less expensive than Raigeki and it puts Worms in the Graveyard for me to use later. What's not to like?

I'm trying to fix the 50 Card Main Deck issue as we speak, but for that, I'd need more combos and card ideas to work with it. Then, maybe, I could fix the card count.

There are literally no good Reptile-Type Extra Deck monsters that work well with Worms besides the ones I've listed. If there are more that won't mess with Solidarity and Viper's Rebirth, tell me, please.

If you want to make the 50 card MD seem like nothing, throw in a few Snake Rains. It's literally painful choice for reptiles but you don't add a 5th card to your hand.

As for the extra, I know a few of your cards force you to only run reptiles, but that doesn't mean you have to limit yourself so heavily. You should still run a full extra deck. But if you really need to deal with something or wanna Castel something so King can attack for game, you should at least have that option.

Hmm. Snake Rain. That'd actually help alot, now that I look at it. Most decks would go minus with it, but if I could get 3 Yagans and 2 Queens in there, I would be able to special from the Grave for days. Thanks! That's an awesome idea!

And as far as the Extra Deck goes, I see what you mean. I find that, with many decks, I run into issues of monsters being to strong to be destroyed by battle with King, and said monsters being unable to be destroyed by Card Effects (AKA Beelze). I'll take your advice, but chances are, I won't ever delve into any of the Extra Deck monsters barring either the Castel I'm going to try and buy (thanks, btw, for the idea) or King of the Feral Imps.

Thanks for the criticism, Pro!
