Arctic55
So, I think the meaning is about how our lives are not what they look like from the outside. Do you agree? Why or why not? Is there a different message? If so, what?
.Rai
I didn't realise Melanie Martinez could be more obnoxious than she already was. Then clearly someone had to go nightcore her. The meaning of the song seems pretty obvious to me. She doesn't try to be subtle at all, especially with that heavy metaphor. Seemingly perfect family is actually dysfunctional. Mom's an alcholic, bro's a druggie, dad's sleeping around. I do think she's a pretty good lyricist. The whole creepy carnival vibe that pervades her image and music is just gimmicky though. Cosmo.
Well just look at the lyrics if you want the meaning. Also why did they have to ruin such a beautiful song by making it nightcore (yes, i'm a huge fan of Melanie Martinez), it just removes all the creepy atmosphere that it has. Also, @Rai, i think that style sort of suits her, it's something i haven't seen in a while (I think since Kerli, but she isn't very known). And, yes she's a very good lyricist, just look at Mrs. Potato Head (one of my favourite songs from Crybaby)
