What is evil?

I think the more important question is: Are humans born to be naturally good?

No, that's a completely different question and sort of assumes that the answer to OP is yes.

Why is this a question? We're the only species with a proper sense of morality, so "good" is naturally defined by us and so is "evil", but that also means that we were born with such a basis and definition.

Animals show morality as well, just not as developed perhaps. If that's what you mean by proper, then I'll have to disagree. Morality is based on feelings, which animals have.

Ho boy, what a question. All I can do is ask more questions about it, sadly.

Is evil defined by your actions? Or your thoughts? Is a priest who's done no wrong but has only hateful thoughts in his heart evil? Is a serial killer who's good in nature but couldn't resist killing people evil? Is someone who kills someone else to protect a loved one(or themselves) evil?

Is someone who's beneficial to me but harmful to everyone else good or evil? What about the other way round?

Ok, so let's do say that since human beings have the most complex morality and intelligence development, what is right and what is wrong can only be seen by how we define things. So what brings up these definitions and expectations? Is it more naturally favored to do "good" things? Would we even take in account how others feel? It's all something we can just keep asking if we looked down at sociological and psychological behavior.

Evil is the philosophy manifested by humans as an explanation for acts that are deemed immoral by the populace.  That is what you would want to hear, but evil is the entire material world that we exist in.  The good exists within the immaterial plain, but we are unable to reach it until we shed our evil ways.
