And of course, nothing will be done because the NRA and the gun lobby has too much power and apparently, guns are more important than people. I don't hate guns, but they should NOT be easily accessible under any circumstance.

Sorry, needed to somewhat rant. I'm sick and tired of this. That being said, I do not believe gun control is the only thing needed. I do think tougher laws should happen, but we also need to fix other things such as our broken mental health system.

Name one other easily accessable piece of equipment that people can pick up on the fly essentially that's harder to defend oneself against than a gun?

Because even if the argument 'Guns don't kill people people do' had any weight, the fact remains that it is simply easier to kill an individual or in particular a group of individuals with a gun without them really being able to stop you.

Like if someone is coming to kill me, I would rather them have say a funking chainsaw than a gun because my odds of fighting them off are greater. Yeah, I'm still probably dead, but you have a much better chance of living, or at least making them suffer for it.

This doubly so for cases where multiple people are killed.

Depends how smart people are. You can make a chlorine grenade from basic things from walmart. That'll certainly kill you pretty fast

Except that's not personal.

And these kinds of things are usually very personal in nature.

Also I would not call making a chlorine Gas grenade easily acceptable - Because that requires the assumption that people aren't idiots. (To quote a film 'A person can be smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it')

There's no question that guns would be harder to get ahold of with better gun laws. Sure, if you try hard enough you'd be able to get ahold of one anyway, but at least it'd be more difficult to do so.

And maybe there'd be less cases like these out there.

But of course, tougher gun laws are extremely hard to pass. It's possible, but very hard. I think we all know why.

Not everyone who shoots and kills people are psychopaths.

Simply having the option of shooting someone makes it that much easier to find the resolve to kill.

Good job you win.

People kill people for many reasons.

They're crazy

They're enraged, sometimes this is related to crazy sometimes not

They're scared

They want/need something and are willing to harm someone to get it

Accident

All these things result in death far more often when guns are involved.

Yes other options ARE there but why not make it harder for them? That's kinda like saying "Well the kitchen is dirty but so is the bathroom so I won't clean the kitchen"
