Progenitor
To be fair, most black widow bites aren't that deadly anymore. At the point it would kill from a single bite you most definitely should've had enough time to call emergency services, have them go out for coffee and donuts on the way there, then have you sit a while in the hospital before actually being treated. Granted it's not by any sense of te word pleasant to have the venom in your body for that long, but it usually has to be multiple bites for the venom to threaten a life. But yeah, that's pretty freaky. it happened to someone else a little while ago, and it's almost definitely related to the move to use less pesticides. Less pesticides drops the chance of finding a spider in your bag from 0% to like 5% (that statistic literally has no merit as I pulled it out of my head), so while very rare it can happen. goodfusion
Things like this are relatively common. I mean, I've heard that the Brazilian Wandering Spider (supposedly the most venomous spider known to science) can pop up in warehouses and stuff after being accidentally shipped over. The Amazing Avian
I say this as someone who has been bitten by a Black Widow, it's not as bad as you think. It hurts like hell though. Anyway, widows live in vineyards, so this kind of thing happens sometimes during packaging. It's nothing to be terrified over, they tend to be very shy and only attack if they feel threatened. Best solution would have been to just wash the grapes to get it off, but either way, nothing would have really happened unless the one year old mentioned made it feel threatened. epicmemesbro
Once I ate some mojo potatoes at Shakey's and I found a worm thriving in them. I told the manager and he gave me a bunch more mojo potatoes. That only made me more paranoid of what was within those.....
LordCowCowCowCowCowCowCowCow
Good thing I never get grapes that aren't in transparent bags and I check them before buying.Protip, always always check your fruit before you buy them, even just to check for freshness. Slinky
This is why I don't buy fruit.I get my fruit vitamins from juices.
Poc
Widows are indigenous to some southern Great Lakes regions, so are brown recluses. They're not that scary.
Susie
glad to know that there are other people here who realize that a lot of spiders arent as deadly as people make them out to be, worst case scenario youll most likely end up having a pretty bad pain for a while, unless youre allergic which can really be a bad thing, but other than that its not all that big of a deal. Tentacruel
They're not usually fatal but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like a JABRONI.
a bad post
As someone with severe arachnophobia, and as someone who eats a lot of fruit this has made me want to be a lot more cautious.
Susie
They're not usually fatal but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like a JABRONI.thats why you should be cautious but were pointing out how wrong the misconceptions that are put by people who are terrified shitless of spiders and give them a bad rep over nothing too much. even the Brazilian Wandering Spider has a pretty low deadliness towards humans (only 2.3% of bites are sufficient enough to require antivenom). were not saying that you shouldnt avoid getting bit but were just proving the misconceptions as misconceptions. Techi☺
As someone with severe arachnophobia, and as someone who eats a lot of fruit this has made me want to be a lot more cautious. You and me: Same boat. Just like, one hundred percent. Just the thought of how they move makes me cringe and feel sick. It doesn't matter to me if they are lethal or not. I can not stand spiders, at all.
Susie
as much as i love spiders yeah i totally get where the arachnophobia thing comes from. spiders are very angular and resemble the complete opposite of what humans in general conceive as attractive in terms of nature. now as for those of us who love spiders, well embrace the little guys with big open arms
