Fatal shooting over spilled beer in St. Louis.

Getting mad over spilled beer, really?

Sure, the guy got it over your clothes, but you can probably clean the shirt off yourself.

That, and not being given a beer. If they wanted to offer you one, they would've.

Or you buy one yourself.

A simple apology should've been enough, but noooo....

Guy gets pissed off and shoots the other man.

Yeah, this is messed up as sheet.

There was no need to shoot the other man.

This man shouldn't cry over spilled beer.

Y'know, this is the kind of thing gun control would stop.

Even if gun control did pass, I doubt it would stop every shooting because there are too many guns out there.

That being said, I do think we need tougher laws. Too bad this country is filled with idiotic gun extremists alongside a stupidly powerful gun lobby.

Even if it only stops half of shootings, that's still a lot of lives saved.

Likewise you can do stuff like the goverment paying people for there guns to give people an incentive beyond illegality to get rid of there firearms and removing right to carry laws from states that have them.

Like gun control can almost never stop all shootings, because you can still get guns. But it does cut down on the vast majority of gun violence.

Still, this is just a hilarious example as to why your country shouldn't have wide-spread gun access. Sure, I am generalising, but it's still hilariously dumb.

>hilarious

Maybe it's hilarious to some sicko but in reality, it's not hilarious at all. It's tragic.

Welcome to America, where we care more about guns than people. Welcome to America, where no matter how many shootings we have, likely nothing will

change. The government cowers from the NRA and gun lobby.

Like, there are only so many times I as an outsider can see these sorts of things happen in your country, and see you never do anything about it, and not just find the whole situation hilariously idiotic. Because in every other country in the Western World something would've happened by now to put a stop to it. Even in extremely pro gun societies.

Like it's just so incredibly backwards for this to happen in one of greatest super-powers in the modern world. Because this is behaviour so many other countries have just out-grown.

Sorry, but I don't see how it's hilarious unless you like the fact Americans die EVERY SINGLE DAY due to guns.

It is backwards, I'll give you that. Very backwards.

It's the stupidity over the lack of action that I find so funny. Not the events themselves.

Because it is so stupid for the reasons I outlined above.

Ah, I see. I don't find any humor in this but to each his own.

Well, it's not impossible, it's very hard. For reasons probably well known.

At least ten to twenty times that amount die from car accidents and the DMV has been around for quite a while. That didn't really stop the accidents didn't it? Of course it may not be connected directly but either way there is no law that can be made to prevent car accidents other than to limit vehicle usage.....

gun control won't really prevent drunks from shooting each other in bars unless one considers "drug testing" but this just takes it to a whole new unnecessary level. For drunks, cars have those things you breathe in to make sure your alcohol consumption is non existent. It'll be pretty hard to make a device like that on a weapon....I suppose we can do what the Israelis would do: metal detectors everywhere!!!!!!! But that's just extreme and will make the patrons more unsettled. O.o P.s. Aren't all bars supposed to be "gun free" by law?

It's not really gun control we need.

Sorry to sound like the thought police / eugenicist in the room, but we need idiot control. I'm not saying to kill all the stupid and/or pointlessly reckless people, but put them together in a place separate from the car portion of society and let the problem work itself out.

Because, let's face it- tougher gun laws would only piss off the gun nuts, who'd start going on Son of Sam rampages. And we don't want that.

I mean, if gun nuts start acting out violently, do you think that's going to disuade the laws from passing or encourage them? Because to me, a bunch of fanatics trying to hold a goverment and a people to ransom through violent isn't something they are exactly going to get away with and is going to make people stand up and do something.

One thing people really bare in mind; Gun laws aren't going to fix the problem instantly, or eliminate it entirely, but over time it's going to save probably thousands of lives in the long run. More so the longer after they are passed. There is no magical cure to the problem, because the problem is part of your culture; there are other western societies with wide-spread access to fire-arms and don't get these well publicised waves of gun violence.

Besides, I think the original meaning of the 'right to bear arms' has been lost over the last few hundred years. Because I don't think this, or any of the other events of the last few months are the sorts of things that was intended to enable.

In the end, it's just a few crazies being consistently irresponsible, and I doubt that little things like legality are going to trouble them much. Even under the current system, it's estimated a third of the country's guns in private hands are unlicensed, but it's just determined to be too much of a non-issue. Making stricter gun laws won't solve the problem of apathy.
