inb4 "you could just rom hack"

I think y'all have known about this for a while now. Youtube is just FLOODING with teaser vids, and I couldn't be any more hype. I LOVE creative games in general, but this one will be special after my childhood of making Mario levels on graph paper and other online Mario level makers. That, and I'm really looking forward to what other people make.

Discuss.

I could not be any more hype for any game yet to be released, and my hype has stayed for months and months and months. I'll try my had at creating things, but something already tells me I'll be more of a player. I've been sucked into one online Mario level maker immensely, but I just know my creativity won't match even the smaller things I've seen. Doesn't mean the amount of time this game can waste will be decreased at all, it's definitely way more than any normal game.

Rom hacking can get lost though, for all I care. No offense, they can come up with some pretty amazing stuff, and some things are just not in SMM. But this thing is as official as official can get, there are things we've never seen before, and the ease of use is just out of this world.

Yeah, everyone who says ROM hacking is better obviously isn't aware that not everyone can do it.

So far, my only complaint on what I've seen is that annoying hand that appears when you touch the touch screen (aside from it triggering some people for being white.) If there's an option to turn that off, that'd be great.

It's only on the TV screen. When you're actually making a level it shouldn't actually be an issue, but there is an option to change it, one of which is a really small glove cursor. Personally, I'm probably going cat paw.

I don't get why someone is posting that so long since it was announced you had to actually beat a level. Is it really still funny to post things like this?

It's relevant, so I don't see why not. Though it is technically spam, however Armz is kinda the exception.

That does bring up another exciting fact about the game: it supports over 50 amiibos, so I'm excited to see what can be done with that.

....And because This game lets you make that sort of stuff. Hence why I posted it.

At least, I assume so.

I mean, if they let you upload levels that are literally impossible, then yes, you can make stages that spawn you on top of Spikes/etc.

I imagine they'd prompt you to beat it a couple times before you upload it so that people at least know it's possible, but idk

It's already a given fact that you have to beat a level to upload it, so no, you can't make levels that are that impossible. I did find it kind of funny the first time I've seen that, though.

You can set that up as a troll pipe or something, though.

Megaman Powered Up! didn't require you to beat the stage, which is pretty funny in hindsight. In reality, though, you get endless stages that make as much sense as this:

3:35 - 3:56

An excerpt from Jeff Gerstmann's review over at GiantBomb:

"Super Mario Maker lets you make, save, and share your own Super Mario Bros. levels. The tools used to make those levels are intuitive and effective, though the level sharing and sorting options used to find levels online could be better.

I mean, I could stop right there, because either that sounds like the one of the best things Nintendo could have ever created or not. If the above moves you, you should own Super Mario Maker. If you shrugged at the concept, then... well, look, you're wrong, but that's OK. I can respect that."

So yeah, that was pretty great.
