heraldry_lord
Gideon, Ally of ZendikarMana Cost: {2}{W}{W}Planeswalker - GideonStarting loyalty: 4 +1: Until end of turn, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar becomes a 5/5 Human Soldier Ally creature with indestructible that's still a planeswalker. Prevent all damage that would be dealt to him this turn. 0: Put a 2/2 white Knight Ally creature token onto the battlefield. -4: You get an emblem with "Creatures you control get +1/+1." Are Allies good yet? More seriously, his +1 is his standard, punch-the-enemy-in-the-face ability, but his last two abilities are sexy. He can generate 2/2 tokens for free each turn he's alive, and they're Allies, and his last ability, which I suspect he'll be used for the most, is a permanent +1/+1 for your mobs. His mana cost is pretty neat for all that he offers too. He's a pretty good Gideon all around.
bury the year
Didn't someone prove this one fake? EDIT: Nope, thinking of something else. CARRY ON.
heraldry_lord
Didn't someone prove this one fake? It's on Wizards' Twitter, so I wouldn't know about that.
bury the year
It's on Wizards' Twitter, so I wouldn't know about that. Oh, now I remember: someone leaked this as a text version on MTGS, but an image mockup based off of it that was poorly done got booted around. Anyways, he's not bad. The +1 being the transformation ability instead of the 0 is really interesting: seems like Wizards wants this guy to be as aggressive as possible. Flame Dragon
The Ally synergy is likely where the power in this lies, but even without that Planeswalkers that can keep turning out dudes are also pretty strong. The ult being the starting amount is also nice since you don't need to both set up a good board for it and get him their. Curious what decks will want this in standard. ~Faytl~
Not gonna lie, Allies are starting to look REAL good right now. And this guy churns them out for nothing. Question now is just what color combination of Ally will be most viable after the set comes out (though GW is looking pretty solid, if the dualdecks are anything to go by). bury the year
Question now is just what color combination of Ally will be most viable after the set comes out (though GW is looking pretty solid, if the dualdecks are anything to go by). I don't know about Standard, but GW is the way to go in Modern. The core of Allies is in white: Hada Freeblade, Kazandu Blademaster and Kabira Evangel are must-includes, with Ondu Cleric and Talus Paladin as sideboard options. Green gives you Harabaz Druid for ramp (which also went to $3.50 each overnight!), along with Collected Company and Hardened Scales for support. Maaaybe Inspiring Call, as well. To compare, blue gives you Jwari Shapshifter for redundancy but not much in terms of support, red has Akoum Battlesinger and Boros Charm, and black... has nothing. Either way, I'm hoping Allies get a boost. Bought a playset each of Freeblades, Blademasters, Evangels and Druids, as well as a pair of Paladins last night for $20. Let's hope my first big "speculation" goes somewhere, because Allies would be so fun to make good in Modern.
Flame Dragon
Since I started playing Magic during the tail end of Zendikar one of the first decks I made was a Naya Ally deck. IMO the deck needs a LOT the even be viable in Modern, but its always been a really cool casual deck. Honestly, they are a lot like Sliver, which isn't that surprising since they were the inspiration if memory serves.

CKL made a Naya Allies list for Modern that used Aether Vial and CoCo to great success online. I'll try to find the article.
Poc
I'm not sure if this guy is better than Sorin or Elspeth but hes a solid walker none the less. I can see him finding a home in standard, probably not modern though.
