Despite Rock's intentions to make the girl go away, Sora did the exact opposite, and took the seat next to him, looking at her new acquaintance. "Awesome! I recently arrived here all the way from Japan! Back home in Yugenku, I did a favor for some dockworkers when they were being hassled by some yakuza. The yakuza even took all of their decks away as collateral for not paying them, and I thought that was really mean, so I found the local bar where they were and dueled them! And then they brought more people to duel me after I defeated those guys that I almost lost, but I didn't, so I dueled them all, and won against their boss! The dockworkers, and a local captain who had also gotten harassed by the yakuza, were so grateful, they let me ship out on a cargo ship going all the way here to Rettopolis! This place is so awesome! I mean, it's hotter than home, but it still is really cool!" She finally wound down a bit and asked. "But enough about me. Tell me about yourself!"

"That'll end my turn for now," He summoned another dino, nothing special.

"I draw!" "During the standby phase i activate Tower's effect! I shuffle back to my grimoire Spellbook of Power to draw 1 card." She then smiled looking at the card that were in her hand. "Poor unfortunate soul, fate isn't by your side today, is it? Your fate is in the cards, and my cards are predicting only one finale for you... DOOM!" She then activated Spellbook of Fate, banishing 3 Spellbooks from her Graveyard to banish the worthless dinosaur. "I now Tribute my 2 monsters to Tribute Summon a World of Prophecy, my Star Hall gains a counter adding 300 ATK points to my World." "Exterminate your opponent with Arcana Reset!" A giant runic beam came from the Angel like creature and finished her opponent "Distortion finish!" She shouted as her opponent's Life Points went to 0.

The crowd was cheering and she returned to the room with all the contestants.

"Pria Thetonopolous and Arkana IV, to the arena floor," the assistant lady droned, and a man wearing a carnival mask bowed to a young woman wearing clothes that were, frankly, ridiculous, left the room.

Gloria looked towards the door, as the two Duelists left and Margaret walked in. "Potential threat?" She asked herself quietly, using her periphery to keep an eye on the screens. This "Margaret" girl was the first real threat to her Void-Eyes yet, due to one thing she had seen during the Battle previous.

"Good thing I can do more than Synchro Summon," Gloria muttered, "or I might have some issues in the future.

Rock just nodded as this Sora kept talking. Something about yakuza and dock workers and... Dammit, he had missed how Margaret actually defeated her opponent. Well, from what he could tell, she used lots of Spell cards. He had a decent counter for that... If he could summon it.

He looked to Micheal, silently asking... No, pleading to attract this girl's attention. He remained quiet when she asked about himself for a few minutes before saying,

"Who I am is not important," . With that, he tried to focus on the new Duel.

Gloria had turned her head away from the introductions in the stadium- had not paid attention for merely a second- and the Duel was over.

"Did anyone see what happened?" Gloria stood, her black coat ruffling as she did so.

Surely enough, the man in the green tuxedo and silly mask had returned. "That wasn't much of a show, but to be fair, Miss Thetonopolous would not have been the best audience, no no no."

The assistant returned, bored as ever. "Rock, Dieci, your Duel."

A young woman dressed in a morphsuit covered in Xs that concealed every inch of her body nodded silently, and walked through the door.

As they enjoyed their nachos, a rather interesting and maybe a touch too eccentric girl named Sora had decided to give Rock some attention. Paying attention to their conversation so far: Micheal felt as though the two of them were really not getting off to a quick start. Rock was a rock and Sora seemed to be attempting to make him grow with plenty of water and sunshine. A florist or something. He was greatly entertained and definitely missed two duels as the unthinkable happened.

He wasn't that short, being seemingly taller than the Sora girl. And it wasn't like he was negligible, Rock just stuck out like a sore thumb. But, the closest Micheal has ever gotten to a girl had happened as Sora made the mistake of sitting right on top of him. He wanted to catch her first, but his arms wouldn't move. His modest nature and respect for women was being greatly outshined by his own clumsiness and fear. Thoughts were not being gathered perfectly as the time passed at a normal speed and she sat right ontop of his lap.

Her hair floated back to his face as his pale skin flushed. His nose and cheekbones lit right up as he didn't know what to do. She probably knew by now she was sitting on a boy too. "Rock... Why are not not helping me? He thought to himself as he couldn't summon the strength to talk. His blue eyes finally escaped the girl ontop of his as he saw that Rock was already gone. sheet. He slipped out from under the girl and her outfit made it a little easier. The middle spot of the couch beside them wasn't taken as he ran a hand trough the back of his hair and smiled for Sora. "S-sorry. I guess you didn't see me there. I'm Micheal, that was Rock. Don't let his silence bother you. He doesn't do it to hurt your feelings or anything." He spoke softly, adjusting the duel disk and deck that he so gingerly kept from hitting her with when he slid out from under her. "Your story sounds rather adventurous. I bet you're way better than I am at this."

Ooc:Sorry Gloria.

Sora seemed disappointed that the strange man didn't want to talk to her, and sighed, frowning at his departure...until she heard the muffled squirming beneath her, and got up as the slender, dark-haired man got free her her admittedly nice rear. She whipped around, blushing in embarrassment from what she did, and bowed to him respectfully. "I am so sorry! I didn't even realize you were there! Ohh...I just get so excited about these kinds of things, and then I don't think about what I'm doing, and then I make mistakes, and...ugh...I feel so ashamed right now..." She stands back up and offers her hand, still feeling pretty silly. "I am Sora Suzuki, all the way from Japan! I come from the big city of Yugendu, which is all about Duel Monsters and other games. We have tons of Duel Runner circuits, all sorts of cafes themed after Duel Monsters, shops galore that specialize in finding specific cards, pretty much anything having to do with some sort of collectible game can be found in Yugendu! And I'm one of the best duelists in the entire prefecture in and around the city!"

This professional duelist was probably not the standard by any means. She seemed like so much fun and the description of where she came from felt like a fairy tail. A land where games like these would be so actively part of the day to day culture. The moment had allowed him to reflect that this island city wasn't far from Yugenda. Both phyiscially and in the state of acceptance of their game of choice. In fact, winner of this tournament was going to be declared champion of their city. How extravagent.

He took her hand and gave her a more geniune smile as he tried to control the coloration of his face. The concept of being considered a pervert when he didn't have those intentions felt unfair and he didn't want to wind up like that. "Sora is a nice name." His voice was as soft as ever as he knew they were close enough to hear each other. His hand took hers as he shook with enough effort to show that the handshake meant something to him. To meet a duelist who is so good at what she does. That was his brother's dream. She wasn't just an example, she was precisely what his Brother would whisper to Micheal about when they used to share rooms and had problems getting to sleep.

To claim respect on nothing but skill and talent alone. To be a champion. She deserved that title more than Micheal did and a pang in his heart reminded him of that. The guilt of being new in an envirionment and competing for something that the elite and expert class of challengers deserved so much more. "Sora... That's like, cloud, or sky or something, right? It's a pretty name, that's for sure. I don't know if you heard me earlier, but, my name is Micheal. Rock is my friend. If it wasn't for his encouragement... I might not have worked up the guts I needed to give my brother's deck the chance at this tournament that it deserved. I feel unworthy, though." He responded to her as he released his hand as gently as he took it. The timid child inside his heart, that he really always had been, was making him reveal his true feelings to Sora even though he promised himself he wouldn't complain. Something about Sora's innocence was drawing at his timidness.

As more and more duelists left the blue room, Blake began to feel more comfortable, and this time, he decided to cut the silence and move on. Out of the corner, his determination pushed him to talk with the first person at sight. A woman in a black coat was standing nearer, 'she was the first round's winner' he thought, 'I gotta go congratulate her'. Without any plan, Blake approached, holding his hands very hard in an attempt to not show any sign of panic or fear. But when he got closer enough to start some conversation, the words just didn't come out of his mouth. He was so focused on getting her attention that even though his body was completely stoned, the numerous pictures mentally materialized made him think he actually got it.

Gloria, who hadn't noticed his presence until that time, was too busy paying attention to all the duelists that had passed the first rounds, as if she was analyzing some possible threat. She turned her back still not seeing who was next to her.

On total frustration feeling, after having realized all his efforts did nothing, Blake got an idea, a really dangerous idea. With trembling hands more than ever, he stood one in the direction of Gloria, and gave the subtlest touch possible in one of her shoulders. Finally, Gloria turned to see who was that person and got surprised when she saw a thin male with a stupid smile in his face. In a low tone, he started the weak presentation. "H-hi, I'm call- i mean, my name is Blake, congratulations on your win..it was awesome.."

Gloria whipped her head around, her long black hair smacking the unfortunate young man in the face. His smile seemed rather weak and sniveling.

Someone who understands their place , Gloria thought, smirking.

"I am Gloria Tenebria, the Void Duelist, and most likely candidate for victory in this competition," Gloria said haughtily. However, her voice didn't carry petulant arrogance- it was calm self-assurance. This wasn't a boast, she treated it as a statement of fact.

She smiled more warmly. "Thank you, for your congratulations. I don't have anyone at home to issue them, and I'd begun to believe that my tenure as Champion of Rettopolis would go sourly."

She looked back and forth, and then gave Blake a glare. "So, Blake, did you see how Arkana obtained his victory? I was . . . distracted."

Rock was just as silent as he walked through the door, strapping on his duel disk and getting in position. He watched the device on his wrist shuffle his deck and spit out five cards, which he grabbed.

"I'll take first turn," Rock said, not even exchanging taunts as he looked at his hand. "I summon Silent Mecha LV4 in attack position," (Level 4, Attack: 1300, Defense: 1300) A red robot appeared in a pillar of light, aiming the cannon on its arm at Rock's opponent, its small jet pack spreading like wings.

It barely came up to Rock's waist, looking almost like a model than an actual robot. "I now activate his effect. Once per turn, I can draw a card from my deck and reveal it. If it is a Silent monster, I can draw again," He grabbed the card his disk spat out and looked at it before revealing it to the X covered woman. "The card is Silent Magician LV4," He said nothing else as the Duel disk supplied him yet another card. He looked at it and then the field. He silently laid three cards facedown. "Turn end,"

From within her suit, Dieci giggled. "My turn, then. I activate Bubble Generator! I get 1 Level 3 Bubble Token for every Spell and Trap Card you control!"

Three shimmering bubbles appeared in front of the laughing young woman. "I now Summon my Level 2 Teardrop Stone Tuner monster from my hand. Because I don't control a monster higher leveled than any of your monsters, I can Summon another Teardrop Stone from my hand."

Two sapphires, cut into teardrop shapes, appeared on Dieci's field. "SYNCHRO SUMMON!"

Two pillars of energy shot up, and when the dust settled there were two watery shapes on Dieci's field.

{Aqua Golem Fünf

WATER - Level 5 - Aqua/Synchro - 1200/3000}

{Aqua Golem Ous

WATER - Level 8 - Aqua/Synchro - 1200/4200}

"Now, during each of your Standby Phases, we'll both take direct damage equal to the combined Defense Points of all monsters the other controls, thanks to Aqua Golem Fünf. And, thanks to Aqua Golem Ous, the Attack Points of all WATER monsters on the field are increased by their Defense Points if they are attacked."

The woman took an exaggerated pose. "Turn End."

The blonde/redhead blushed even more at the other youngster's compliments. He seemed really nice, and her heart seemed to beat faster for some reason. And now he was talking about something really personal...She wasn't really sure how to handle this, but she hadn't talked to boys too much, except about dueling. She only felt really comfortable talking about dueling and engines and parts and repairs and other things pertaining to her interests, and never felt too good about much else, especially when it came to romance and relationships. After all, it seemed like people just wanted to be around her for her fame or her skill or her body, and not really respect her as...her. Still, she head he had a deck, and lit up a bit. "Oh! Yeah, my name means sky in Japanese...Anyways, you have a deck? Could I look at it, and maybe I could give you some pointers on deck construction and optimization." She gave herself a mental pat on the back. Totally nailed it.

Blake was amazed with such remarkable confidence expressed in those words. Totally his opposite. But instead of despising that attitude, he just started admiring her even more. Never someone has been so sincere at his presence. But then again, his self esteem dropped when he couldn't answer that simple question. "I'm afraid I also got...distracted...and don't know the results either.." Damn, if only he wasn't such a crybaby in the corner...now she'll get disappointed, what should he do...Did he swim the entire ocean to just die at the beach?..But then the unpredictable happened when Gloria said it was all fine, after noticing the extreme sadness put in his eyes. "Re-really?!" That's quite the good news, he regained some happy facial expressions, still pretty lame because of the easily shakable emotions.

When both realized a duel has begun, Gloria rapidly looked the other way, kind of ignoring the one interacting next to her.

Well, think its time to keep track of all winners from now on...dont want to feel useless a second time..

Margaret was scouting for "preys" to chat with, and she saw on the other side of the room a interesting pair, one was a guy, kinda pale with brown hair, while the other one was a girl with long bright orange hair.

She decided to "attack" and try to meet some people, since she was mostly here for fun. She got near the pair and overheard their discussion. I feel unworthy, though." The boy said. "Oh yes, that's a very nice name indeed!" She said trying to sound the least creepy as possible, imagining the scenario from their point of view. "Sorry to interrupt you two, i was just looking for someone to chat with, and you two peaked my interest. My name's Margaret Olympia Diamandis, but people simply call me Margaret." She said with a smile.

Rock braced himself as he drew his card. He gritted his teeth as the helpful box showed his life point tumbling down from 8000 to a mere 800. If he didn't win this turn, he was in trouble. He just had to calm down and focus. With Silent Mecha on the field, he was about to replenish his hand and he would have a lot of options.

"During my Standby Phase, when Silent Mecha LV4 is face up on the field, I can send him to the graveyard and summon his more powerful form," He watched as his monster glowed. "Come forth, Silent Mecha LV8!" (Level 8, Attack: 2700, Defense: 2500)

The robot grew larger, gaining heavier armor and a laser blade along with its cannon, now standing slightly taller than Rock. The scarred giant looked at the card he actually drew. Polymerization. This could work. "Once per turn, I can once again draw a card, and if it is a Silent monster, I can draw two cards," He reached to the card his disk provided after it shuffled and drew, looking at it. "I drew Silent Kunochi," he says as he reveals the card before reaching in and drawing two cards. Well, his hand was now full. Time to pull off a miracle, hopefully.

"I play my facedown card Level Up,"" He said as the card in the middle flipped up to reveal itself. "I can now turn Silent Mecha LV8 into his ultimate form," The red robot grew once more, now becoming what looked like a giant red Gundam. "Come forth, Silent Mecha LV12!" (Level: 12, Attack: 3800, Defense: 3000) "I activate his effect. I can draw one card, and if it is a Silent monster, I can special summon it, ignoring its summoning conditions," He reached for his card and drew. He looked at it, and he did something strange. He had a small smile on his face. "The card I drew was Silent Sniper LV8," (Level 8, Attack: 2800, Defense: 2000)'he said as he summons it, this time the chest plate of Silent Mecha LV12 opens up, and a tall busty woman wearing camo and carrying an oversized gun appeared. She aimed it at the two monsters, ready to fire.

"Now I activate her effect. By discarding a monster, I can destroy monsters you control with less attack than the one I sent," he explains as he discards a card. "I discarded Silent Golem LV11, which has 3500 attack, compared to your monsters' 1200," he folds his arms, no explanation needed as his sniper aimed her gun and fired, her shots piercing the two monsters and destroying them. "Finally, I activate Polyerization to fuse the Silent Kunoichi and the Silent Elemental Mistress in my hand," the two monster swirled in a vortex until a Fusion Pendulum monster was created, Silent Elemental Ninja. (Level 5, Attack: 2500, Defense: 2100) "Your field is empty, and your life points are less than the combined attack of my monsters," He said, not looking excited or disappointed. "Silent Elemental Ninja attacks,"

The ninja quickly obeyed, flash stepping in front of Dieci and slashing with her swords. (8000-2500=5500)

"Silent Sniper," the monster obeyed and fired a round at the X covered woman. (5500-2800=2700)

"And finally, Silent Mecha. Finish this with Silent Burning Finger!" The large's mech's hand glowed with an awesome power, its burning grip telling it to defeat Dieci. It dived forwards and smashed the woman with it. (2800-3800=death)

Gloria watched Blake walk away, smirking. He had been . . . unusual. Perhaps his Dueling was worth watching?

Her eyes immediately snapped back to the screen when she heard the call of a Synchro Summon, and only grew more interested as Rock responded.

"A LV deck? Not conducive to Gravity Counters, but I'll manage," she murmured.

As Rock returned to the room, she watched him with interest. "Excuse me," she said quietly, "what was your Duel Record before joining the tournament?"

The ever-present bored assistant returned, "Tyson and KRD, to the arena please,"

Two young men, one dressed in typical sandblaster garb, the other in the nearly antiseptic clothes of a Solid Vision worker, stepped out.

Rock inwardly sighed as yet another person tried to talk to him again. Well, if he answered the question, she'd leave him alone right? Somehow, he didn't think she'd be happy with the answer.

"I don't know," he admits. "I don't officially duel too often, and I never checked my record," He didn't care about his record, what his past victories were, he cared what his current duel's would be. Now if only he could do the same about the past...

When he gave his answer, he headed into the crowd. Normally, he would return to Micheal... But he'd be lying if he said he didn't find him and Sora cute together. He didn't want to be a third wheel and make things awkward. So he found a nice dark corner on the other side of the room and stood there silently.

The way Sora looked back to Micheal had confused him. His well-shaped jaw barely shifted as he pursed his lips and looked over Sora's face more as he scanned her to try and understand if she was feeling weird because of him. He was never known to be the attractive one of his family, dropping out of school made it hard for him to keep up with any friends and his social life kind of died there. Then again, it would be rather odd for someone to comment on his looks while he's helping them find a book at the book store he worked at. The idea that she felt weird because of his appearence was dismissed. Mentally, he thought of himself as a rat. What about a brown fured, blue eyed rat would anyone find attractive?

"My brother left me a long time ago. It's hard to remember what his face looks like... But, he did leave me his deck in the precise listing he planned to use in that years tournament. James Mike Sawyer, he was listed as a contestant in this very tournament just a day before the fire." He told Sora so much more than he told Rock during their month of training. Rock just knew that the deck was important. Micheal's voice was smooth as he couldn't quite help how good he was with controlling his voice. The blue eyes of the thin and pale, well dressed man, would dive down to his right pocket as he felt his phone vibrate. The corner of his lips tugged up on the left in a small smirk as he failed to realize the cool look he had happenned upon by accident.

The sound of Margaret approaching them was drowned out by the surrounding duelists and their conversations. But, Micheal didn't let her introduction slip by. His blue eyes left his pocket almost the instent they fell to it as he focused on the spellbook duelist who did so well in her first duel. It was hard to imagine such nice, beautiful and young women being his competition. Not that he didn't think women could perfrom, in fact, he recognized that the girls in this tournament were going to be quite the threat long before the first round with Gloria. Micheal's only current regret was how much of Rock's duel he was missing. "Some people call me Mike. You can call me Micheal, if you feel like that's appropriate. That's my friend out there, the Giant Scarfed duelist. I hope he's doing well..." Micheal spoke to Margaret first and then let the last part be for the for the both of them. He offered her his left hand to shake as he forgets the formality of shaking with right hands. He wasn't so uptight as to refusse an irregular handshake and he never thought anyone else would. Two thin brown braclets were around his left wrist as he offered this hand to shake. The second being slightly burnt.

Gloria stepped away, mildly confused. He doesn't pay attention to his Duel Record? What is this nonsense?

Shaking her head, she watched the Duel at hand, in which two young men were only succeeding in pissing each other off.

///

"Guardian Statue returns your face-down monster to your hand!"

"ARRGH!" KRD just seemed more irritated than actually fearing his opponent. "Just die already!"

\\\

She shook her head. This was why people hated decks with flip effects.

She looked about, wondering if there was going to be an end in the next hour or so.

Standing at the back of the room, William watched as everything went by. A few duels with lots of talented foes in them. "Are you sure that I've been equipped with the right powers to take down my enemies? Especially the one with the Void-Eyes Dragon. I fear that I will be unable to match her power. And what about the man with those... Ever growing monsters, the ones that level up? It appears that he can generate a steady field and hand advantage in just a few turns. Shiranui... Are you sure I'm ready for such a task?" As he watched more things happening, he realized that many duelists were conversing with each other, at that that would be a great way to gain some useful information on them.

Many people seemed to be gathering at the couches, where they could easily watch the duels. Three people, two women and a man, were talking to each other, so William awkwardly sat near them, hoping that they would include him in their conversation. "It hard for me to muster up the courage to speak to others. Yes, I know that sometimes I just yell out stuff about you, but that's because I'm just doing my job as a messenger of the gods. Stop pressuring me! I need to act normal." He wore a very frustrated expression as he silently argued.

Without warning, the meek programmer returned to the room, triumphant. "Just barely," he breathed, "just barely."

The assistant returned once again to the doorway, once again sounding as if she'd rather be anywhere but where she currently was. "Blake Murdock, Ashley Slithley, get to the arena as soon as possible," she yawned.

Gloria nodded in approval at how quickly the tournament had been progressing. At this rate, she'd be champion before the sun set.

She looked at the multitude of empty spaces, and noted with disdain that Tyson had left a noticeable sand imprint of himself on one of the couches, and a whole section of the room stunk of Pria's perfume. Even when they were gone, they managed to be annoying.

Gloria walked up to the bluenette standing in the doorway. "Are the losers required to leave once they've been eliminated?"

"Technically, no," the bored twentysomething said, popping a piece of gum into her mouth, "but who would willingly hang around once they know they're not getting the prize money?"

Gloria shrugged. "Just a question."

Sora was now confronted with not only a really nice if not somewhat awkward guy, but the girl that just kicked a lot of butt with Prophecies. She was very pretty, with platinum-blonde hair and golden eyes that contrasted with Sora's own orange-ish blonde and bright red hair and crimson eyes, and a blue and black motif to counter Sora's own red and white. Still, Sora was glad to have so many people interested in her, though time would tell if they truly were potential friends. "A pleasure to meet you. You did amazing out there, and I only hope I get to do such a great performance." She turns to Michael, hearing that his brother had passed away, and her face didn't exactly turn to a frown, but clearly lost a lot of its energy and joy. "Oh...umm...I'm sorry...I...I shouldn't have asked about that..." The trio was now pretty awkward, and Rock standing off to the side, watching them, along with that other guy, made things all feel a bit odd...

"Some people call me Mike. You can call me Micheal, if you feel like that's appropriate. That's my friend out there, the Giant Scarfed duelist. I hope he's doing well..." "Your friend doesn't seem like the very talkative type, but i guess it's a get to know him sort of thing, anyway, it's a pleasure to meet you" She then accepted the handshake with a smile. "My brother left me a long time ago. It's hard to remember what his face looks like... But, he did leave me his deck in the precise listing he planned to use in that years tournament. James Mike Sawyer, he was listed as a contestant in this very tournament just a day before the fire." The joyful faces of a second ago were now all sad. "Oh...umm...I'm sorry...I...I shouldn't have asked about that..." said Sora. "I'm very sorry for your loss, but the past is in the past! Today you're in this tournament, the one your brother was going to participate in, and you're here to honor him. Even if you don't win, i think  that just your presence here made your brother really happy." She hoped to lighten up the conversation and return everyone to the happy state they were in before, after all they had battles to win, they couldn't duel while so many bad thoughts distracted them.

Blake quickly headed to the big arena, avoiding the looks of the audience. He knew that he wasn't the entertaining type of guy, and feared that everyone would reject him. So he got straight to the point, before the announcer could get the chance to declare the contestants' names. On the other hand, the other duelist earned some applauses and fans calling her name very loud. What was thatIs she an idol or something?

"Alright, looks like the two participants are already in position. Without further ado, let this duel begin!"

Blake's countenance changed as he began to concentrate on the match. His face adopted a more serious aspect, with eyes fixed on the battlefield. It was like he just impersonated a completely different person. His opponent found it weird at first, but ended up forgetting when she concentrated more on the duel.

Immediately after drawing the 5 initial cards, Blake remembered all possible moves and combos he could do with that hand. He had spent literally 1 whole month training for this tournament and got to a point where he and his deck are one. He couldn't afford to lose.

"For my first turn, I'll activate the Continuous Spell Card: Atlantis Aquamirror. While this card is on the field, I cannot Normal Summon or Set monsters. And that ends it."

"What on earth is this?" His opponent thought, with a clear shocked expression in the face. "Why would he leave an open field like that, is he really being serious?"Ashley decided to delete any dubious thoughts about the other guy's sanity from her mind, and focused on finishing this very quickly. Seeing how angry he has made the other duelist, Blake smiled slightly, the plan had worked.
