ihop
2 Nekroz Aquamirror That's not a card by any stretch of the imagination. Cut the traps, they're MST bait game 1 and Warning is mediocre anyway. Replace them with another RotA and... I'm gonna say a Gold Sarcophagus until I can consult with my Nekroz-playing friend what his tech of choice is these days. Rest of the deck looks fine, although T.G. Halberd Cannon is the cool kids' level 12 of choice. Or Armityle. edit: In fact, funk Gold Sarc. Play a 3rd Maxx "C"

Slinky
Personally, I REALLY don't like Upstarts in here. Especially in regards to the mirror. That +1000 lp really does mess a lot of things up for them. How have they been testing?

That +1000 lp really does mess a lot of things up for them. How have they been testing? Does it actually make it tougher in the mirror? A competent opponent will just keep their LP over 4800 at all costs and giving them the extra 1000 just lets them take a little more damage which in the grand scheme of things is hardly relevant. Slinky
In theory, no. But I did extensive testing, and most of the time, not only was Upstart unneeded, but it was counterproductive in the mirror. It's not that easy to accumulate extra damage when you have Valkyrus looming. You also have the very real threat of running out of ritual spells, as you can easily burn through them without realizing it. So you really don't have much lee-way to mess-up, especially with Upstart, as it can easily lead you into a situation where even the slightest miscalculation can cost you the game. Most of my mirror match losses were scenarios where I actually /would/ have won if I hadn't used Upstart earlier in the game. It's a consistency safety net, but with Nekroz, it can easily backfire. Which is why I'm curious, as his testing could have had a lot different results than mine, as Upstart is one of those cards that doesn't produce conclusive results to everybody. Zauls
Thoughts on Catastor? Seems pretty meh to me. I'd cut it for the aforementioned Gold Sarc.
Slinky
Catastor has been actually very good in testing. It's a level 5 for Trish (if you can't afford to use the Shurit at that time), it can recover Shurit or Exa/Sorcerer/Dance Princess for use with Valk to provide more plussing. And its also a target for Exa. It'd be better to drop the Gungnir imo. It's pretty costly for such a mediocre effect, especially when said effect influences your next play, as your hand in Nekroz is very important, moreso than normal. Gungnir has also lost a lot of power ever since the death of the Djinn lock.
ihop
I will take your word for it since I haven't actually tested the deck at all, just watched and discussed it. I'd be inclined to agree that Upstart is not particularly useful, though. edit: What? How are you supposed to win mirror matches without Gungnir? Slinky
The mirror match is mostly about keeping your field clean to avoid getting Trish'd and then making pushes. Putting Gungnir on the field compromises that. Like I said above, even the slightest misplay in the mirror can cost you the match. Opening yourself up to getting Trish'd is very very dangerous. All it takes is 1, and you've lost too much advantage to be able to keep up in the mirror. Basically, if you leave your field not empty at your end phase, you're getting Trish'd 9/10 times. As for winning the mirror, the side deck often includes Kycoo, as that shuts off Mirrors side effect and Valkyrus. Upon playing Kycoo, you can make it game if you play your cards right on that turn, which also loops back into Upstart, as very few, if any, of those combinations exceed 9k,

Yes, but that's how to play the mirror match, not how to win the mirror match. You win the mirror match by getting them down to 4800 then summoning Gungnir Valk Unicore and popping the Valk with Gungnir when they attempt to Valk it. CLG Klavier
On the topic of Upstart, if you give me what cards I can put in to have a better matchup in the mirror, I'm all ears. Denko was in that slot earlier, but it doesn't do jack sheet in mirrors and against lot of other decks, so I went for Upstart for more consistency. No side deck yet, I tend not to make side decks until I get comfortable enough with the deck and I didn't play too much Nekroz this format yet, and it's a bit more intensive now I think, before it was slightly more straightforward I feel. Slinky
I'm personally running Aquamirror Cycle to recycle Brios and Unicors, which in turn, can search your entire deck/grave. It's a very strong play, but it can also be dead at times. Really only effective in the mirror however (especially since it helps clear your board). Gives you some good sidebait cards though for everything else though it certainly isn't bad in other match-ups. So that can be an option Both Gishki Vision and Shadow are extra copies of Shurit if you want them (though can't be used from the grave). Would more recommend Shadow if you go this route due to him being level 4 if you need to Xyz. Both can be recovered by Salvage too if you want to use that alongside these. Urgent Ritual Art can allow you to Trish your opponent on their own turn (this is absolutely devastating in the mirror) Both Dance Princess and Burial can recover a Shurit. I tested the latter, I wouldn't recommend it. Archfiend Eccentrick is an out to every single floodgate not named Majesty's Fiend. Although, this is more side material alongside Zefrasaber and Wavering Eyes
ihop
Aquamirror Cycle is pretty cool, it's kinda easy to make it a +1 if you chain it to stuff. Eccentrick's good too, and Dance Princess is ok. The other 4 suck.
Slinky
Urgent Ritual Art is pretty damn deadly, and I'd put some serious consideration into it if it wasn't going to be here until November.
ihop
Well, Nekroz in this state almost certainly won't exist by November so I don't see much point in that.
CLG Klavier
Fine, I'll try 2 Eccentrick and 1 Dance Princess.
Slinky
Speaking of Cycle though, it's hilarious if you can bait a trish with it. They waste resources AND have nothing to show for it. And then if they can't make Valk, it opens up your own Trish play.
