Card A:

xddTci7.jpg

2 Level 3 monsters

During either player's turn, if a monster is Special Summoned: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Switch that monster to face-up defense position. It cannot switch battle positions until the 2nd Standby Phase after activation. You can only activate the effect of "Spellbinder Swallowtail" once per turn. If this face-up card is destroyed by your opponent's card (by battle or card effect), destroy all defense position monsters on the field.

Card B:

Replicating Worm

EARTH Insect-Type

Xyz/Effect

Rank 2

ATK 850 DEF 1800

2 Level 2 monsters
This card cannot be destroyed by battle while it has Xyz Material. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; change this card to face-down Defense Position. If this card is flipped face-up: You can shuffle 1 Level 3 or lower Flip monster from either player's Graveyard into the Deck; replace this effect with that monster's FLIP effect. You can only use this effect of "Replicating Worm" once per turn.

Cards are up, please start voting.

Just to let you know, I will be away for a week in a couple of days on holiday, so I will not be able to check back here until the 29th or the 30th. I hope that doesn't cause any inconveniences.

I can keep track of this thread no problem.

Let's see.

Card A can stop SS-heavy Decks for a while by forcing them to change battle positions, and blow up Defense Position monsters if it goes (though it does hurt you as well).

I can safely say Superheavies are severely screwed if they hit this (you know, because of how they work); maybe a few other things like Ghostricks and smaller Shaddolls,

There's certainly more, but either I can't think of them right now or they aren't relevant right now/too gimmicky.

Usage-wise, there are a few Decks that can use this right now, and certainly could use a monster that can neuter potential threats for a while.

Well, it will not stop the opponent from triggering whatever effect (and it does backfire against certain Decks), but it'll make them destruction bait for this card's 2nd effect.

----

Card B can't die if it has Xyz Materials and takes the effect of a Level 3 or lower Flip Effect monster.

Looking at the available card pool, most you can use is probably the smaller Sibyllas and a lot of random Flip Effect 'mons that no one uses seriously. (There's Ryko as well, but...)

Although given the wording, it takes the monster's effect after being shuffled into the Deck, and then proceeds to activate/resolve as normal.

Again, there isn't much stuff for this card to really steal + be effective with.

IMO, you could have allowed it to hit Level 4, and it'd probably be a little better (at least you can use this against Dolls; right now, you can only steal Falcon).

--------

Hmm, which one is better?

Forcing monsters to Defense Position + blowing them up if opponent is foolish enough to destroy it? Or a monster that can't die in battle, but can steal Flip effects.

I'll have to give my vote to card A.

Personally, I feel it has more applications + isn't reliant on the opponent (or yourself) running a certain Deck style.

B has an interesting effect, however lack of viable targets for it to steal isn't necessary good for this card's purpose.

That, and certain Decks don't mind if said monsters are bounced; they can just mill themselves again (see Dolls).
