Relinquished Xyz Counterpart - Retrained

2 Level 1 DARK monsters
This card's ATK and DEF become equal to the combined ATK and DEF of the Xyz Materials attached to this card. If this card has "Relinquished" as an Xyz Material, it gains this effect.
+ Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; attach it to this card as a face-up Xyz Material.

 

At first glance, this just seems like "Relinquished" on steroids, but I actually put a lot of thought into this one.  Unlike "Relinquished", it doesn't have any battle protection whatsoever and it doesn't inflict battle damage to your opponent against a stronger monster, so you won't benefit from 'suicide attacks' with this thing.

 

Instead, it stands out by assimilating your opponent's monsters in a more effective basis, by doing so during your opponent's turn, which "Relinquished" can't do.  It's notable in that it keeps certain Graveyard requirements like 'destroyed by battle or card effect', 'sent from the field to the Graveyard', and 'sent to the Graveyard by a card effect' from working.

 

As one might expect, it's easiest to get the most out of this by Normal Summoning a "Kinka-Byo" and reviving a previously Ritual Summoned "Relinquished", using "Relinquished's" effect to absorb a monster, Xyz Summoning this card, using this card's effect to absorb another monster, and then immediately at your opponent's Draw Phase, absorb ANOTHER one by detaching the previous one.

 

Also, you don't necessarily NEED "Relinquished" to find some use for this thing.  If it has "Meklord Emperor Wisel" as an Xyz Material, then this card can easily be a 3k or so beatstick.  "Overlay Eater" can also buff this card a bit, depending on the enemy Xyz Monster.  Remember that just like "Relinquished", cards that negate monster effects like "Breakthrough Skill" make this thing useless, and it has no real protection against other card effects, either.

The thing that could be tweaked, is... the name. It doesn't sounds epic enough, more like reclaimed goods at the customs or something... maybe you can name it something related to it's roots:

As you said, you've put a lot of thought into it and i think it looks legit balanced and a nice counterpart to the forever-banned-

Do you have a Duel Portal account, and if so, could you upload this to it please? If not, would you mind if I uploaded this card to it? I love Relinquished a lot, and was actually making Xyz support for it myself, so seeing this was very pleasing.

 

About the card itself, I really like it. Attaching a monster as a quick effect during either player's turn is pretty neat and makes up for Relinquished's main weakness: Your opponent can just chain something such as Breakthrough Skill, and your left with a pathetic 0 ATK attack target. This would force your opponent to think carefully about what they do, making them hesitant to summon a monster while this is on the Field. The attack increase is fine and works in-theme, and if you use Relinquished as 1 of the Materials, its never going to have massive ATK.

 

I also like it as it works very well with the how I play my Relinquished deck: Spam Relinquished's effect as much as possible to remove my opponent's monsters and go in for the direct attacks. Before Djinn Releaser of Rituals was banned, I would try to summon Relinquished with Releaser (possibly some of the other Djinns as well) as quickly as possible and stall out with that, but now there is little reason to keep Relinquished on the field, so this provides a very good option to go into after equipping something.

 

All in all, a card I very much like, and I can tell you have put a lot of thought into it. Good work.

 

Just a question, what card is "Overlay Beater"? I tried searching for it on the wiki, and I can't find it. Is it a card you've made?

Infact, I believe there is a fair chance of Restrict being unbanned soon, as Elder Entity Norden is coming to the TCG, which may mean Instant Fusion gets limited or possibly even banned at some point, which is the only thing keeping Thousand-Eyes Restrict banned.

You know, I couldn't really think of a good name myself...  I went with "Reclaimed" because it meant something like 'taking it back', while "Relinquished" meant something like 'giving something away'.  It was meant to be a play on words, since they sound the same, but are actually opposites.  Likewise, "Relinquished" and "Reclaimed" look and feel similar, but function completely differently.  Does that make sense?

Lol...  I meant "Overlay Eater", not beater.  I just edited it now.  Anyway, I don't have a Duel Portal account, so you're welcome to use it if you'd like.  In fact, why don't you take a look at the other cards I made over the years.  Most of them are as well thought out as this one.  Some... not so much.  My favorite ones come from the three entire sets of cards I've made.  One of them is direct support for the 'Venom' archetype, the second one is a new archetype called the 'Harbingers' which focus mostly on non-Effect monsters, and the last one is based on "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask".

 

I've also made a new type of Extra Deck monster called 'Magi Monsters' that are summoned in response to the activation of a certain Spell Card.  Finally, I have a lot of stand-alone cards that I've posted, but the thing is... some of my cards have been made over a year ago, so they can't be easily found in the forums today.

I'm a fan of Relinquished and Thousand Eyes Restrict so your card perked my interest. I love the effect. It fits in well with the Relinquished line of cards and looks pretty balanced to me. I don't care for the name much, but that's a personal gripe. Since you want to stick with the 'Re' theme and try to show its effect through the name you could try Redeem, Retake or Recapture and their different forms. Name wise it's not easy matching them and I like that you put effort into fitting him thematically with the others.
