The arena was not close to half full, but this was clearly taped shortly after doors opened. The set looks to be much more similar to the NXT Unstoppable set than the Raw set. The commentators plugged Network shows, sang Beyonce, and showed fan art from a guy named Tony. They turned to a graphic hyping the main event. They showed Kevin Owens arriving at the arena. Lita said that Kevin Owens has an advantage because he has an experience advantage in situations like this... They turned to a video package hyping Baron Corbin vs. Samoa Joe. It pitted Corbin as the unstoppable rising athlete. He said that he's never even heard of any of the things that guys like Bálor, Itami, and Crowe have done and he doesn't care. He questioned whether Joe being there was a popularity contest or true competition. Joe warned that Corbin needs to step up and Corbin said people will realize he's the real deal after Brooklyn... Backstage, Samoa Joe said he's given Corbin every chance to fight him face-to-face and Corbin waited and attacked him from behind. Joe said that tonight Corbin won't have those opportunities. He said that he's going to beat Corbin down and put him to sleep... Back in the arena, Lita said that Joe had been doing it for 16 years in companies like Zero-1 and Ring of Honor. Graves said Corbin will make his mark. The fans in the Barclays were chanting "How you doin'?" Renee hyped the debut of Apollo Crews and his vignette aired... Back in the arena, Renee turned things to the Women's Championship match and Bayley and Sasha Banks were shown arriving at the arena. They went to a video package that opened with Izzy talking about how cool Bayley is. Bayley was stoked, but the video turned dark and painted Bayley as the lady who got left behind when Sasha, Charlotte, and Becky got called up. Sasha said Bayley needs to get over it. Bayley's comeback wins over Emma, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch were shown and Bayley said that she's going to prove to everyone, including her mom, that she has it and she's going to beat Sasha... Back in the arena, Lita said that video gave her chills. Graves said that they aren't "giving" the ladies the main event, they're earning it. Lita talked about the pressure of main eventing against Stephanie McMahon15 years ago and said the ladies are going to bring it tonight. Saxon said Sasha is underestimating Bayley. Graves said Sasha has grown up past little girls like Bayley, but Saxton said tonight is Bayley's night to break that mold. Lita and Byron predicted Bayley, and Graves predicted Sasha... They went out to Dasha Fuentes and Greg Hamilton, but the crowd chanting behind them drowned them out with "NXT" chants. They asked a lady in the crowd her thoughts and she said she's there to see Bayley win the Women's Championship. Fans chanted more... Things turned to the tag team title match. Last month's match between Blake and Murphy and The Vaudevillains was shown with Bliss interfering for the B&M win. Lita said The Vaudevillains are her favorite team in NXT and she may be taking off her heels to help them out later tonight... Adrian Neville and Finn Bálor were shown arriving together. They were greeted by Cesaro who joined their posse... The panel talked about Jushin Liger debuting. Backstage, Rich Brennan tried to interview Tyler Breeze but Breeze put a Liger mask on him and walked away. They again briefly hyped Liger...A video package aired building up Bálor vs. Owens. They showed Owens running through guys like Sami Zayn and Neville, before losing the NXT Championship to Bálor in Tokyo. Owens said he needs the title and called for a ladder match. Bálor said he was game and the rest is history. The closing segment from this week's go-home show played, closing with Bálor vowing to beat Owens and shut his mouth. In the arena, Lita talked about home-turf. She said Finn was comfortable in Japan, whereas Owens may feel more at home here. Saxon said that this is a critical night for Kevin Owens to regain some momentum. Graves argued that Owens isn't the champion, but that doesn't make him the underdog. Saxton recalled Owens refusing to answer whether or not he could beat The Demon. Saxon predicted Bálor retains, Lita and Graves went with Owens. Renee Young gave one final pitch for the show and that wrapped it up.End of Kickoff Show Triple H delivered a monologue into the camers mid-ring, with the arena dark and quiet. He said "you made it a revolution" and then raised his arms and the lights came up and the crowd went bonkers... A song played about New York City and models stalled out dressed like NY landmarks like the Empire State and Chrysler buildings, the Statue of Liberty, and a taxi. Tyler Breeze's music hit to a big pop and he made his entrance. Breeze stopped to take a selfie with each. His gear is a glorious brown fur with gold accents. At ringside, Rich Brennan, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton checked in on commentary. Jushin Liger was out next to a respectful response. 1. Tyler Breeze vs. Jushin "Thunder" Liger.Breeze backed off and perched himself up on the turnbuckles, but Liger quickly got the better of Breeze in an exchange and hit the pose himself. Liger worked the surfboard and Breeze broke free, but moments later Liger went right back to it and got the full Romero Special, which the commentators called by name. Liger hit a monkey flip which Breeze over-rotated on the bump and landed face-first. Liger took the selfie stick and struck a pose, but this allowed Breeze to come back and hit the Supermodel Kick for a two-count around the three-minute mark. Breeze stayed in control and hit a super unique cut-throat double-knee backbreaker for a two-count. Nice one for the repertoire. The crowd grew bored and chanted a few inaudible things before Liger made a comeback with his trademark rolling kick. Liger hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and then went up top. He dove off, but Breeze got both knees up. Breeze used a crucifix pin for a two-count and the crowd came back around with dueling chants for both guys. Breeze tee'd off in the corner and the ref backed him off, which led to Breeze screaming at the ref and eating the Shotei palm strike from Liger. Breeze went to ringside, but Liger dove off the apron with a rolling senton. Back in the ring, Liger hit the Liger Bomb on Breeze for the win.Jushin Liger beat Tyler Breeze in about 8:40. Liger celebrated and bowed as the crowd politely applauded... Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and X-Pac were shown sitting ringside... Backstage, Bayley accepted a hug from Charlotte and a handshake from Becky Lynch... A vignette aired for Nia Jax. She said she can kill with a smile and greatness is her destiny... Back in the arena, The Vaudevillains made their entrance with top hats and overcoats. They got a pretty good response from the crowd. The tag champs were out next. In the ring, Alexa Bliss said it looks like The Vaudevillains couldn't find anyone and went to slap them, but they stopped her and Blue Pants's music hit to a big pop. 2. NXT Tag Team Champions Blake and Murphy (w/ Alexa Bliss) vs. The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch w/ Blue Pants).Gotch used some tricky offense and went for an early cross armbar before English tagged in. Blake and Murphy used a double leapfrog over English, but English armdraged them both, and then hit another deep one on Murphy to retain control before hitting a pose. Blake and Murphy took control of English when they sent him to the apron and yanked him to the floor. Back in the ring, Blake took a hold and prevented a tag attempt before bringing in Murphy. Murphy sat in a hold and also quelled a tag attempt. The champs hit a huge tossing neck breaker for a near-fall around the seven-minute mark. There was a brief miscommunication by Blake and Murphy which enabled Gotch to get the hot tag. Gotch dropped the strap and ran wild with forearms in the corner, but action soon turned to English fighting off both Blake and Murphy on the top rope. Gotch re-entered the picture and took both guys down with one-arm power bombs. English followed up with a Swanton for a good near-fall. Bliss looked to get involved, but Blue Pants fended her off with a slap and the two brawled out of the ring. Murphy looked for a quick flash rollup, but Gotch kicked out and The Vaudevillains caught Murphy with the Whirling Dervish for the win.The Vaudevillains defeated Blake and Murphy to win the NXT Tag Team Championships in about 10:10. Vaudevillains celebrated, fans clapped, and replays aired. The Vaudevillains hoisted Blue Pants on their shoulders and celebrated their win to close the segment... he official theme song was plugged... The main event combatants were shown arriving. Kevin Owens was alone, whereas Bálor arrived with Neville and was greeted by Cesaro...Rick Ruben was shown at ringside... "10" appeared on all of the screens and Tye Dillinger made his entrance. Apollo Crews was out next to a big pop. 3. Apollo Crews vs. Tye Dillinger.Dillinger's hair is something else. He got the better of Crews and backed off to chant "Ten!" for himself, but moments later Crews got the better of him in a similar exchange only with a few more flips, and the arena went wild giving Crews a 10. Crews looked for a springboard move, but Dillinger caught him with a dropkick and settled into a side headlock which became a cobra clutch. Crews powered out and hoisted Dillinger into a fireman's carry, but Dillinger slipped out. He caught Crews with a superkick for a quick two count. Dillinger looked for another, but Crews caught it and rocked Dillinger with a jumping enzugiri. Crews fired up with shots, a discus lariat, a stinger splash, and a jumping clothesline. Crews hoisted Dillinger up with a military press and dropped him down before hitting a standing moonsault for the win.Apollo Crews over Tye Dillinger in about 4:40. In his office, William Regal announced the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. He said this will be a tournament beginning on Sept. 2 and and culminating on the October 7 Takeover special. Regal suggested tuning in over the next several months to see the action and promised to make the American Dream proud. The commentators thanked donors to Conor's Cure. The Tough Enough finalists were shown sitting ringside. They were booed lightly... A video package hyped Baron Corbin vs. Samoa Joe... Back in the arena, Baron Corbin made his entrance. Samoa Joe was out next to a good reaction and a "Joe" chant. 4. Baron Corbin vs. Samoa Joe.The two locked up to a stalemate before Joe began hunting for submission holds. He looked for the Clutch but Corbin escaped to ringside and took his time re-entering the ring. Back in the ring, Joe hit a big enzugiri in the corner, and followed up with a kick that showed a lot of light, but knocked Corbin to ringside nevertheless. Joe looked to follow up with a dive through the ropes, but Corbin cut him off with a right shiver and followed up with another running right hand while Joe was dazed against the ropes. Joe began to fire back with shots and and managed to roll Corbin into a half-crab which he transitioned to a crossface. Corbin reached for the ropes, but Joe grabbed Corbin's free arm into a Rings of Saturn stretch. Corbin managed to reach the ropes with his feet and then knocked Joe to ringside for a brief reprieve. Corbin looked to go after Joe at ringside, but Joe swept Corbin's legs on the apron and sent him tumbling into the barricade. Back in the ring however, Corbin locked in a deep heel hook out of nowhere, but Joe managed to reach the ropes. Joe sold the knee, but fired back at Corbin with a hard chop. Joe hit the ropes, but Corbin planted him with a hard spinning side slam for a near-fall. Corbin caught Joe with a side kick, but Joe came right back with a twisting enzugiri and both guys were down around the seven-minute mark. Back on their feet, both guys traded shots and exchanges of different strikes. Corbin rocked Joe with a right, but Joe rocked Corbin with a spinning backfist. Joe looked for the Muscle Buster but Corbin knocked Joe away and hit a reverse suplex slam for another two-count. Joe slipped behind and looked for the Clutch, but Corbin escaped and planted Joe with a choke bomb. Corbin made the cover, but Joe caught him and hooked the Coquina Clutch. Corbin showed a bit of fight, but before long went to sleep and the ref called for the bell...Samoa Joe choked out Baron Corbin in about 10:25. Japanese joshi star Kana was shown at ringside (though they spelled her name Kanna) with Ric Flair and Sgt. Slaughter. Team BAD were also shown... Stephanie McMahon made her entrance and cut a rah-rah NXT promo. She said "we're all making history." She then turned things to the ladies and hyped up the NXT Women's Championship between Bayley and Sasha Banks before throwing to the video package that aired during the pre-show... Bayley made her entrance to a big pop and had eight waving tube men on the stage with her. her gear is white and gold, but her headband and wristbands are black with yellow polkadots. Sasha Banks's music hit and she rolled into the arena in a black Escalade. She was accompanied by four body guards who escorted her to the ring and ever-so-gracefully lifted her onto the ring apron and held the ropes for her. Both ladies got full in-ring introductions. Bayley got the bigger pop of the two, but the only thing that got booed was when Boston was mentioned. 5. NXT Women's Champion Sasha Banks vs. Bayley for the NXT Women's Championship. Sasha got in Bayley's face and called her a loser, so Bayley took her down with a double-led and the two brawled on the mat. Bayley hit a sliding back elbow and a big jumping sliding lariat. She continued going right after Sasha and hung her up in the tree of woe before springing off the ropes with a big elbow drop for an early two-count. Bayley hit a nice springboard armdrag and Sasha took a powder. Bayley slipped out to the perpendicular side of the ring and dove through the turnbuckles with a dropkick. Back in the ring, Sasha got Bayley in position for her double knee drop, but Bayley rolled and avoided it. The two battled up to the top rope, before Sasha dropped down and kicked out Bayley's knee to send her tumbling to ringside. Back in the ring, Sasha hit the ropes, but stopped short and slapped Bayley across the face. Sasha slowed things momentarily with a neck crank and then went to her trademark straight-jacket hold with a knee to the back. Bayley fought to her feet once and once again avoided the knees in the corner, but Sasha teed off on Bayley with shots and then put her in the same position only across the top of the top ropes. Sasha climbed to the top turnbuckle and jumped onto Bayley with a huge double-knee drop for a near-fall. Sasha cornered Bayley and berated her, but Bayley kicked out the leg of Sasha and sent her face-first into the turnbuckles. Bayley fired back with shots, but Banks knocked her to ringside with an arm breaker across the ropes and then applied the Disarm-Her at ringside. She brought Bayley back in the ring, only to dump her right back out to ringside. Sasha smashed Bayley's arm off he ring steps and then wedged Bayley's hand in between the steps and ring, then kicked the steps. Sasha got back in the ring and appeared to be waiting for the countout, but as the referee leaned through the ropes to check on Bayley, Sasha hit the ropes and hit a big flip over the ropes and referee onto Bayley at ringside. The crowd popped big and let out several chants in appreciation. Back in the ring, Sasha went for a fancy rope-run move with Bayley's arm, but Sasha fell all the way to ringside, seemingly damaging her as much or more as Bayley. Sasha beat the count into the ring, but Bayley was waiting with her trademark comeback spots, with the addition of a nice snap suplex into the turnbuckles. Bayley hooked for her finisher, but Sasha fought out. Sasha reversed and sank in the Bank Statement. Bayley reached for the ropes, but Sasha stomped the hell out of Bayley's injured hand. Wicked. Sasha kicked off the ropes and looked to re-apply in the center of the ring, but Bayley rolled through and applied a Bank Statement of her own. The crowd went wild, but Sasha reached the ropes. The two struggled against the ropes, but Bayley managed to yank Sasha to the middle of the ring and planted her with the Bayley-to-Belly. She made the cover, but Sasha kicked out before three. The crowd chanted "this is awesome." Bayley put Sasha on the top rope and looked for the Bayleycanrana, but Sasha hung on and Bayley crashed and burned hard in the ring. Sasha dove off with a Meteora double-knee drop for a great near-fall, and the crowd dueled with huge "lets go Sasha" and "lets go Bayley" chants. Sasha put Bayley up top, but Bayley fought back with some elbows. Bayley hit another rapid series of elbows and then hit a crazy reverse frankensteiner on Sasha. Bayley dragged Sasha to her feet and put her right back down with the Bayley-to-Belly to secure the pinfall and capture the NXT Women's Championship.Bayley defeated Sasha Banks to win the NXT Women's Championship in about 18:15. Post-match, Bayley was in tears celebrating her win. Sasha made it to her feet as Becky Lynch and Charlotte made their way to the ring. They all congratulated Bayley and held up the four symbol for the Horsewomen and the segment closed with them giving a curtain call. Seth Rollins was shown at ringside... The commentators threw to a clip of Triple H announcing that NXT takes over the UK this December... A video package hyped the main event ladder match for the NXT Championship. The signature walk-up was shown with Kevin Owens approaching Gorilla. He made his entrance and showed a lot of fire in the ring which got him some cheers, and apparently also required the sound be cut. He continued to pace feverishly in the ring waiting for Bálor. A demonic voice spoke before the heartbeat sound. Multiple demons rose up from the smoke and them dropped back down giving the illusion that it was moving through the smoke quickly. Bálor rose with his music and made his painted and tasseled entrance to a big reaction from the crowd. Owens was shown sitting slumped in the corner of the ringside of the ringside area looking unimpressed. Both guys got full championship introductions, and both guys seemed to get cheered similarly, though Owens got a smattering of boos. The belt was hooked and hugn above the ring. 6. NXT Champion Finn Bálor vs. Kevin Owens in a ladder match for the NXT Championship. Owens tried to go right to ringside for a ladder, but Bálor pulled him back into the ring and hit a big dropkick. Bálor fired off a series of running chops before running into a hard back-elbow from Owens followed up by a jumping senton. The crowd became distracted by someone in the crowd which may have been Daniel Bryan, as fans chanted "Yes!" and "welcome back!" Owens hit the cannonball in the corner and then looked to retrieve a ladder, but again Bálor stopped him. The crowd began to chant "Ole" loudly and Owens mimed a torn rotator cuff. Bálor hit the ropes and took Owens down with the Slingblade, but Owens rolled out of the ring. Owens went for the ladder on the ramp, but Bálor ambushed him from behind and Bálor dragged the ladder to ringside. Owens stopped him and rammed the ladder several times into Bálor's mid-section against the ring. Owens looked like he was setting up something cool, but stopped short and just punched Bálor in the head. Bálor fought back and the two literally dragged each other over the barricade into the crowd where they continued to brawl. Owens sent Bálor crashing into the barricade and then set up for a powerbomb onto it, but Bálor back-dropped him over it. Bálor looked to follow up, but Owens caught him and drove him into the barricade again before sending Bálor flying over the announcer table. Owens took the cover off the table and hit Bálor in the head with it before pulling another ladder out from under the ring. Suddenly, Bálor leapt off the announce table and dropkicked the ladder hard into Owens. Bálor hurt his leg on the move and struggled into the ring with the ladder while looking up at the title. The bloodthirsty animals in the crowd chanted "we want tables" because they're never satisfied. Owens momentarily stalled Bálor, but Bálor wiped him out with a huge flip dive over the ropes. Back in the ring, Bálor set up the ladder and began to climb, but Owens re-entered the ring and wiped Bálor out to ringside. Owens began to climb, but Bálor returned with another ladder. Bálor caught Owens with the Pele and then charged for his dropkick, but Owens wiped him out with a hard clothesline. Owens targeted the ribs with ladder shots and then slammed Bálor onto the ladder before crushing him with a senton onto Bálor on the ladder. Owens opened the ladder and laid it down, looking for a powerbomb on the top corner. Bálor managed to fight out and back dropped Owens onto the ladder. Bálor once again began to climb, but Owens returned and sent Bálor crashing into a ladder. Owens charged for the cannonball, but Bálor avoided it and Owens crashed into a ladder himself. Bálor charged with the shotgun dropkick and then came off the top rope with the Coup de Grace. Bálor set up the ladder and climbed within inches of the championship, but Owens made it to his feet and yanked Bálor off the ladder into a wicked powerbomb. Owens was down for a while, but eventually began to climb. By the time he made it to the top, Bálor was abel to tip it backwards and Owens took a sickening bump backwards against the turnbuckles. He slumped out to ringside and Bálor looked to set up a ladder, but Owens made it back to his feet. Action went to ringside where Bálor managed to avoid an apron powerbomb and Owens managed to avoid a Coup de Grace before Owens caught Bálor and hit the apron powerbomb. Both guys were down at ringside, but Owens slowly crawled into the ring. Owens moved a ladder into position and climbed, but Bálor managed to make it back in the ring. Owens dropped down and rocked Bálor with a superkick. Owens set up the ladder and delivered another superkick to a kneeling Bálor. Owens didn't climb again, however, he set up a ladder bridge between the turnbuckles and the ladder. Owens and Bálor fought up to the top of the ladder and Owens hooked for his fisherman's neck breaker several times, but Bálor fought out and knocked Owens off onto the ladder bridge. Bálor had a hard time reaching the belt from where the ladder was positioned, so he changed plans and dove off the ladder with a Coup de Grace onto Owens. Bálor put the ladder in the middle of the ring, climbed the ladder, and secured the belt to retain the NXT Championship.Finn Bálor retained the NXT Championship against Kevin Owens in about 21:40. BT Posted August 19, 2015 Report Share Posted August 19, 2015 I feel like they booked too many matches for an NXT PPV.10 matches and if its 2 hrs. that means each match would less than 12 minutes. Face McShooty Posted August 20, 2015 Author Report Share Posted August 20, 2015 Triple H said in an interview not all of the matches announced will be on NXT TakeOver, most will be taped 90 minutes prior for NXT TV, then a 2 hr show, so all those from the 8 man tag match down, minus Crews vs Dillinger won't make the special.
