Sadness

[spoiler=Premise of this Playset]

The Play Set is set after the events of the film. Riley falls asleep on the couch. She accidentally touches the remote, and changes the TV to play a scary movie. This sends her subconsciousness into chaos, with her memories scattered all over Imagination-land. The emotions must return the memories to Headquarters, before Riley wakes up. This Play Set will feature 25 different levels, with puzzles and platforming in both 2.5D and 3D. It will feature several different types of puzzle challenges. For example, there will be musical challenges, which require players to move in synch with the background music in order to succeed; as well as levels where gravity is reversed, causing players to have to walk on the ceiling. The player must complete each level in a certain time limit, and collect the different collectible balloons, to get as many points as possible.

The 5 emotions will have different special abilities, that will make it easier to complete each level:

  • Joy can glide over large gaps.
  • Anger can run across lava.
  • Fear can run fast, crossing bridges and platforms before they collapse.
  • Sadness can walk across clouds, without them disappearing.
  • Disgust can jump the highest out of all the emotions.

There are also two other play sets, one based on Marvel Comics and the other based on Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens; however, almost nothing has been revealed regarding the plot of either of them.

[spoiler=New Playable Characters]

It has been confirmed that the game will feature at least 21 new Playable Characters, as John Vignocchi has said that by the time everything for the game has been released, there will be over 100 playable characters among all three games, Crystal Figures included.It has also been confirmed that the game will feature some characters that will require an update to the game in order to use them, meaning that they will require an internet connection in order to be used. These characters have not been revealed yet, will not be announced at launch, and will not be visible in the Hall of Heroes until the update is installed.

These packages will sell for an average retail price of $9. 99 U.S.

The power discs announced for the game thus far are:

Twilight of the Republic Power Disc Pack

  • General Grievous' Wheel Bike
  • Skies over Felucia
  • Forest of Felucia

Rise Against the Empire Power Disc Pack

  • Rebel Alliance Flight Suit
  • Slave I
  • Y-Wing Starfighter

Tomorrowland Power Disc Pack

Additionally, the Light Cycle and Light Jet, which were only available as digital exclusives in Disney Infinity 2.0, will be available for all versions of Disney Infinity 3.0; however, unlike in the previous game, they will not be Power Discs, but will be available for purchase from the game's toy store.

[spoiler=Toy Box Games]

In this game will be released two new Toy Box Games, Toy Box Speedway and Toy Box Takeover. The former will be a racing game in the style of MarioKart; the latter will be a dungeon crawler style game similar to Escape from the Kyln. They are both sold separately from the game and from each other. Additionally, they will not be accessed with game discs as they were before, but by clear game pieces like those used for play sets.

[spoiler=New Features]

[spoiler=Farming]

A new feature in the game allows you to start a farm to grow food to boost the stats of your sidekicks, for example Olaf Costume, so they can help you more in Toy Box Games. You can grow anything from flowers to weeds to food plants. There are over 20 different types of food plants you can grow, including corn, tomatoes, cotton candy, Mickey Pop, and even grubs.

[spoiler=New Sidekicks]

Unlike in Disney Infinity 2.0, many more Costumes can be used as sidekicks, including some that were used only as regular costumes in the first two games; in all, there are around (not quite exactly) ninety-three sidekicks in the game.Also, sidekicks in this game can do more than just fight, unlike those in Disney Infinity 2.0. They can be equipped with different gear that can be unlocked from various places in-game, including hats and weapons, which can change a sidekick's effectiveness and function.For example, equipping them with Thor's hammer Mjolnir tells the sidekick to fight, while equipping them with the Seven Dwarfs' pick ax tells them to build a village. (This may or may not mean that there will be no true Toy Box Builders in this game.)

[spoiler=Character Wheel]

In previous installments of the Disney Infinity series, players were required to place a new figure on the Disney Infinity Base each time they swapped characters. In this game, however, a new feature has been added to solve that problem: the Character Wheel. To play as a character, players only need to place each character on the base one time. To change back to a character they have played as earlier in that gaming session, players can simply pull up the Character Wheel and select the character from it. They can now constantly toggle between characters without having to change figures.

[spoiler=Aerial Combos]

The game introduces a new set of character attacks. By holding down the attack button, the player can uppercut an enemy into the air, which can be followed up with a set of attacks that can be performed while the enemies are still in the air, ending with the player sending the enemy flying off. There is also an aerial finisher attack that can be performed whilst the enemy is still in the air. These can be performed by any character with a lightsaber or any other short range weapon, and are done by holding down the attack button.

[spoiler=Redesigned Skill Tree]

The game introduces a new design for characters' Skill Trees. In the previous game, skill trees showed all unlockable abilities on one page. In this game, abilities are separated into four separate pages, with each page including all abilities of a certain type. For example, the page for health-related abilities is separate from the page for ranged attack upgrades.

[spoiler=Course Charting]

The game allows you to plot a course for some toys to follow. The player draws a path of dots on the ground, which all connect to each other. They can then program Cast Members, Enemies, Costumes, or Creativi-Toys to follow this path. This was designed to ease toy box building.

[spoiler=Toy Machine]

The Toy Machine will be a new feature in the game. Every toy box world will begin with a Toy Machine, a red machine that resembles a gumball machine, in it. When a player stands on a button near the machine, it will generate a capsule containing a toy that the player has already unlocked. This was so that players can more fully appreciate the many toys they unlock instead of forgetting about them and never being able to play with them.

[spoiler=Compatibility]

All  Disney Infinity  and  Disney Infinity 2.0 Figures  and  Power Discs  are forward compatible with the Disney Infinity 3.0 software.However, as with the last game, the play sets of previous games will not be compatible. These play set pieces can still be used in the game, however, to unlock the t oys  that would normally be unlocked by playing that play sets in the games to which they belong. The  Toy Box Games  from Disney Infinity 2.0 will not be compatible, either.

[spoiler=Future of Disney Infinity]

John Blackburn has said that Disney Infinity 3.0 will mark the end of the launch of Disney Infinity in a sense. He said that the original vision for the game was for them to include content from everything that is owned by Disney. The team knew from the beginning of the game's development that the first game would be Disney/Pixar and the second would be Marvel, and then Disney bought Star Wars, the center of this game. For this reason, the team "feel like (they are) now all things Disney." He said that future installments of the game will include representation for all major groups of Disney content.

updated the Playable Characters spoiler, added their abilities and added a picture of the figure, some of them have the base and some don't, the ones that don't have the base are only because there is no difference between the official image provided by the Wiki so I added it instead, the ones with the base added are up because I noticed some slight differences between the official art and the actual figure, like Chewbacca for example the actual figure has him standing with his feet side by side but the official art has his right leg behind his left.

Just announced! Tomorrow (Sunday, August 16) the Disney Infinity crew will announce 3 new characters for Disney Infinity 3.0 AND give us a sneak peak at what the Ultimate Unlock is for 3.0 at D23

for those that don't know what the Ultimate Unlock is; its when in your Hall of Heroes you get every character statue and something neat pops up in the middle. In 1.0 we got a Lightsaber, in 2.0 we got Luke's Lightspeeder, so who knows what the Ultimate Unlock will be for 3.0, but I bet it'll be something that will hint at what 4.0 will center around.
