Hey YCM, help me pick which photo to submit for a university photography contest.

I'm going for 1, gf is going for 2. Help break the tie.

They are both good but the person starting to walk into the shot in picture one sort of spoils it for me, so going for two because I'm a sucker for sunsets/sunrises over water and the likes.

Both photos look off-kilter, but it fits better with 1's layout.

 

The Uni is more likely to go with 2 because those types of landscape shots usually do well, but also think about how many other people are gonna submit a shot like that. #1 will probably stand out more

If you do submit no. 2, I'd crop it so that the horizon's not wonky. I still prefer no. 1 though. If the Hong Kong shot were taken maybe half an hour later, so the light was a bit nicer, you might have got a really stark silhouetted shot which would have been cool. The Fushimi Inari shot has strong composition, and is genuinely quite bold, while the Hong Kong one is just nice for me.

 

Both great shots though.

The first is leagues better than the second, just from an artistic standpoint.
