Guardian Eatos & Guardian Dreadscythe

Bringing Eatos and her "fallen" form, Dreadscythe, up for a few reasons: gameplay, nostalgia, and confusion.

 

A couple weeks back, I saw this; a Hieratics build that teched in Eatos and her "fallen" form.

 

From what I can gather, Hieratics are a very heavily graveyard-oriented deck; now, Eatos wouldn't benefit from that, but Dreadscythe's equip spell, which she herself searches upon summon, buffs her up 500 points for each monster in both players' graves, and as a result, Dreadscythe had her ATK jacked up to 14000 in that duel when outfitted with her scythe.

 

Of course, that's nothing compared to Cyber End Dragon's ~36900 ATK in Episode 52 of GX, among other situations in the anime, but you get the point.

 

On to the nostalgia, we all remember Rafael from the Waking the Dragon's arc, right? And how he never let Eatos go to the grave?

 

Well, imagine our surprise when we found out the result of Eatos being destroyed; her fallen form, Dreadscythe, came loose, and it had the tenacity of the cockroach.

 

I.E. It just WOULD. NOT. DIE.

 

The reason Dreadscythe eventually went bye-bye was because Rafael's hand became empty, and as a result, Dreadscythe couldn't revive herself.

 

...now, on to the confusion:

 

Am I the only here that always thought Eatos was a guy, at least until I saw Dreadscythe's chest? Just sayin'.

Don't feel bad about confusion. I thought Honest was a woman. Let's not forget Effect Veiler's gender.

She's strong, but takes more effort to get out than stronger things, so she is looked down upon.

The fact that Dreadscythe cant get her equip from the Grave means you can only have her at full power 3 through her first summon and first 2 mandatory discards. After that she's a 2500 monster that restricts you that forces you to get rid of your hand. I feel this single fact makes her REALLY not worth it, unless you build a deck specifically around her, with stuff like Vylon Matter to recycle them.

I remember Eatos saw play in really early Madolche decks as a free 2500 beater.

OT: The pair of these can end up being really strong but, like it has been pointed out, Eatos takes effort in most decks and sythe is a kinda-useless floater that eats up resources.

I remember before the rulings came out being able to just mill Dreadscythe, equip and send it with Exa-Beetle, and it'd float. It can't now.

I like Eatos. Seems like a fun card to use.

 

While Dreadscythe is cool, it just doesn't seem all that worth it.
