[MtG] MaRo confirms full art lands, no enemy fetches in BFZ.

Recommended Posts

Have you seen the process of them as this was announced?

Frankly, if you want to get them now, the ship's already sailed. Scalding Tarn is at $85, Misty Rainforest is at nearly $80, Verdant Catacombs is around $65, Arid Mesa's around $50 and Marsh Flats around $40. This is absurd.

The only reason I can think of is that they're saving the enemy fetches for spring 2016. Wizard's proven that they can move numbers on a set on the promise of fetchlands alone, so it would make 2016 look abysmal compared to 2015 if they clump up all the profits. Plus, the block following BFZ will rotate in as Khans rotates out, so we won't have a crazy 10 fetchland-plus-landfall meta going on.

One side effect I can see is the prices of Khans fetches rising more quickly now. They've tapered off a bit recently but I wouldn't be surprised if people buy them up as a budget alternative.

EDIT: @Rai - In no way was it previously confirmed, or even widely theorized, that BFZ wouldn't have fetches. In fact, majority opinion seemed to be that they would.

As soon as the ally fetches came out for Tarkir, chances of enemy fetches for Zendikar went out the window.

This thread proves my point. Not a large sample size, ofc, but there was still a great expectation for enemy fetches in BFZ as early as a few days ago.

And now I'm just thinking people are all "of course they wouldn't have printed them!" after the fact. L'espirit de l'escalier, my ass.

I mean, the thread doesn't really say anything. Of course it's disappointing to not have fetch reprints soon, because they do need to be reprinted soon to reduce the entry cost of Modern. At the same time, the question posed there was not "Do you think they will reprint fetches in BfZ?" Even in that thread, several people identified that the likelihood of that happening was low.

Since Maro posted that, Tarn prices jumped 40$ in less than an hour. funk I hate modern prices sometimes.

But I was hopeful we'd get all 10 fetches in standard. I'm not suprised were not though. It might of been "too good for standard". Were definety not getting man lands though, at least not in the first set. Those are definitely too good for this standard.

I'm excited for a new cycle of duals. I'm hoping for a river of tears cycle since it works really well with landfall but Maro said it's a new design so it's probably not that.

And yay, more full art basics.

I can finally buy a fat pack with no regrets...(inb4 fat packs suddenly are no longer a thing)...Not really shocked at no fetchs though

I don't think the Fat Packs will have full art basic. I could be wrong (hope I am tbqh), but I know they certainly have normal version of the Zendikar lands.

I was talking to my friend about full arts and he wasn't 100% on them being in. His logic was that you want the full art lands to be really pretty, but with the Eldrazi running around Zendikar the place is going to look like a mess and that really isn't what you'd want on full art lands. It makes sense, but its such a low hanging fruit, so heavily wanted/expected, and doesn't cause issues like the fetches would that I really didn't see them not making them. I am curious if they will do what they did with Ravnica and reprint a basic from the first set. I'm sure I'll find other basics to love with this on, but I'd love for my favorite to come back.

And because I like sharing them

As for the possible duel cycle, I'm predicting something with a basic land type. Nissa and her Pilgrimage specifying basic Forest is super suspicious imo.

With Commander 2015 being enemy dual color commanders, could it be possible for the enemy fetches to be reprinted there?

Not a chance, it would be TNN but worse, you can't put a 100$ card in a supplemental set and not expect some serious problems.
