Darj
Card ASo this is kind of a reverse Alucard when it comes to dealing with backrow: Alucard handles face-downs, while this handes face-ups (yes, Alucard has the extra perk of hitting Set monsters too, but here I am focusing on its backrow controlling application). However, this card won't remove the Spell/Traps, and after up to 2 turns it will be gone, taking its lock with it and turning the locked cards live again. This feels underwhelming to me. The 1000-LP burn is cute, but if you want to inflict damage and finish a game, you may be better with Nightmare Shark. On the other hand, it can target Spell/Traps you control as well, so it can enable you to reuse cute toys such as Call of Haunted, Fiendish Chain, etc. although you would have to wait for this card to leave the field to remove the lock. Still, it's an interesting application that may be handy sometimes. Also, since the challenge was to retrain cards, this card left me wishing for more flavorful references to Stealth Bird. For instance, having "Stealth" on its name, and/or Stealth Bird's reversed stats (1700/700) plus some built-in stat boost effect to reach a higher value if desired. By the way, I find interesting how things would have been so different for this card if it could target face-up monsters too... Card BPersonally, not really a fan of this card because it sets Diabolos up so easily. I know they aren't exactly the same, but this reminds of Onslaught --> Garunix, which feels cheaps (despite Fire Kings not being relevant currently), except that this needs a monster to be live; but really, if you are playing this and Diabolos, chances are you will have enough monsters to make this card live. Then, after dropping Diabolos, this goes back to your hand so you can turn it into a 3200-ATK beater with OPT protection against destruction (granted, the current meta should be able to easily handle this kind of protection, but still), and/or set up for a second Diabolos in later turns. But even then, Diabolos is not quite the great monster in my opinion. Getting a card that makes it more playable and dedicating a deck to it is nice, but most likely the deck will end far from the competitive environment. What I mean is that this card wouldn't be that relevant. Voting for Card A because it can fill a niche as a generic Rank3. On the other hand, Card B is only playable in a Diabolos-dedicated deck, and may not be enough to actually turn it into a relevant thing.
