Legal Envoys?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to make balanced Envoys. I feel these may be a little overpowered, but I don't think it's blatant. Tell me what you think.

I tried to make important figures the Envoys, you know, like Black Luster Soldier.

Helios - Envoy of the Different Dimension (LIGHT)

********

ATK/ ? DEF/ ?

Pyro / Effect:

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by sending to your Graveyard 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster that are Removed From Play, and Removing from play one face-up "Helios" monster on your side of the field. This cards ATK and DEF are 400 x The number of Monsters removed from play.

Once during each of your turns, you can select and activate 1 of the following effects:

● Remove 1 card in your graveyard from play.

● Deal 100 damage x The number of cards you have removed from play. If you activate this effect, this card cannot attack during this turn.

Dark Magician - Envoy of Chaos (DARK)

********

ATK/ 3000 DEF/ 2500

Spellcaster / Effect:

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing 3 Spell and 3 Trap Cards in your Graveyard from play. Once during each of your turns, you can select and activate 1 of the following effects:

● Declare Spell or Trap, and destroy one card of the type you declared. If the selected card is Set, pick up and see the card. If it is the type you declared, it is destroyed. If it is not, return it to its original position. If you activate this effect, this card cannot attack during this turn.

● If you have at least 2 cards in your hand, you can discard your entire hand to activate the effect of a Normal Spell card in your Graveyard.

St. Joan - Envoy of Creation (LIGHT)

*********

ATK/ 3000 DEF/ 2500

Spellcaster / Effect:

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by removing 1 FIRE, 1 WIND, 1 WATER and 1 EARTH monster in your Graveyard from play. Once during each of your turns, you can select and activate 1 of the following effects:

● Remove from play one FIRE, WIND, WATER or EARTH monster in your graveyard. Take control of one monster your opponent controls of the same Attribute until your End Phase. If you use this effect, this card cannot attack during this turn.

● Discard one card from your hand. Special summon one monster of the same Attribute or Type from your Graveyard that's level is lower than the level of the monster you discarded.

Zorc Necrophades - Envoy of Destruction (DARK)

********

ATK/ 3000 DEF/ 2500

Fiend / Effect:

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by having exactly 5 DARK monsters in your Graveyard, and removing them from play.

Once during each of your turns, you can select and activate 1 of the following effects:

● Roll 1 six-sided die. On 1 or 2, destroy one Monster on your opponents side of the field. On 3 or 4, destroy one Spell or Trap card on your opponents side of the field. On 5 or 6, destroy one card on your side of the field.

● Discard one DARK monster in your hand. Your opponent sends one card in their hand to the graveyard.

Bickuribox - Envoy of Toon World (DARK)

********

ATK/ 3000 DEF/ 2500

Fiend / Toon / Effect:

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing 2 DARK Toon and 2 LIGHT Toon monsters in your Graveyard from play. If a face-up "Toon World" card you control is destroyed, this card is destroyed. Once during each of your turns, you can select and activate 1 of the following effects:

● Pay 500 Life Points. If you control a face-up "Toon World", you can attack your opponent's Life Points directly.

● Remove from play one Toon Monster in your Graveyard. Add 1 card from your Graveyard to your hand that includes "Toon" in its card name, or is named "Manga Ryu-Ran". If you use this effect, this card cannot attack this turn.

Kudos to you for making more balanced Envoys. Although, the wording on a few could be edited up a bit, like how on St. Joan's second effect, it says discard one card from your hand, and then uses the level of the monster discarded. Maybe you should tell them to discard a monster instead of a just a card. There are a few other edits here and there, but the rest of it is good.

Out of all of these Envoys, I believe that Dark Magician is the most unbalanced, due to the fact that his ability is basically two of the most powerful Limited spells put together. I think that you should tone it down a bit, like maybe make the cost to use a spell from the grave to discard your entire hand, not just two cards. The other ability, I think, is more well balanced (more like a De-Spell than a MST).

Helios's summoning requirements, although they match the card, are too powerful if used with the earlier Envoys. If you Special Summon Black Luster Soldier by removing from play 1 Light and 1 Dark monster, then play Helios - the Primordial Sun, and then Summon Helios - Envoy of the Different Dimension, you already got out two Envoys. And this could be on the same turn, or even the first turn.

Now, as I wrote that, it seems less powerful, so I dunno. But anyways, I think you should change all of the summoning requirements so that they can only be Special Summoned from the hand. If you leave it the way it is, someone could think that you could Special Summon it from the Graveyard. That is a no-no for such a powerful card.

Last but not least, Zorc. Unlike the rest, I think his summoning requirement is too strict. He shouldn't need exactly 5, just 5 or more. His ability is powerful enough, although you should change the 3 or 4 ability to destroy one Spell or Trap on the field, not just your opponent's, because sometimes, cards that are no longer useful, such as a Call of the Haunted used on a monster that got returned to your hand. It stays on the field and does nothing.

And here ends my review. Personally, out of all of them, St. Joan - Envoy of Creation was my favorite, mostly because of my love of Element monsters n' stuff. And that's it, I think.

Ah, thanks for the comments.

That was a mistake on St. Joan, I thought I had specified Monster.

Yeah, the Dark Magician...I had a feeling he was the overpowered. I think his ability actually was at one point, "If you have 2 or more cards in your hand, you can discard your entire hand to..."

And then I've made it a few other things involving Spells and Traps, even destroying all cards on the field, like a costly but mild Chaos Emperor Dragon.

And I'll take what you said about Zorc into mind.

I'll work on it. I'm glad you liked them, and I was thinking about changing it to Nomi as opposed to Semi-Nomi.

I'm not sure if I should be working with the banlist in mind or not, but I suppose I'll take Helios' effect into mind.
