In all seriousness, however, I'm glad this thread became a bit of a congregation point for the old(er) members of YCM, but keep in mind that I matured my personality here and I want newer members to maybe go through the same thing (perhaps it's bias speaking, but I've never been to another forum with the level of user diversity as 2010/2011-YCM).

YCM around 2010/11 was really special and I'm glad I was around back then. I agree about maturing as a person as well, it really is a great forum. Unfortunately the forum just isn't the same anymore and it's sad newer members might not be able experience what we did D:

Nice to see loads of old members back. Don't know if anyone remembers me, as I pretty much dwelled in C&O the whole time xD

Yeah, I remember a lot of members used to go neg Nazello/Juuzo because he liked them (think of them as positives for him), and put random messages.

That, and birthday reps and such.

Of course, those were the times where staff could remove said reps if you didn't want them (mainly because certain members got their feelings hurt + revenge neg'd, and you wanted them taken off the record).

1. Well, mid-2010 was the time we switched over to IP.Boards, so a lot of stuff we did on MyBB won't be known to the new generation without reading the archives.

But yeah, a lot of the veterans are gone now and YCM has slowed down a bit.

2. Considering that I've known you since the MyBB days, of course I remember who you are.

Obviously you would know who I am as we were part of the same 'gang', you could call it. xD

I meant more in terms of people I wasn't necessarily in direct contact with, I suppose.

i remember making 400 posts in one day and I still wasnt the top poster of the day (dark beat me :( )

i also remember making clubs and clubs being active, one club got about 2k posts in about over a week etc.

also before that i used to make lots of cards and post in contests and stuff

yeah and then later on mods banned me because they were butthurt how i was superior to them.

I mean, back when there were good threads in General, I would post frequently in, well, all of them. When you have substantive conversations and when people reply fairly quickly, it's not hard to rack up a few hundred posts a day.

If I remember correctly, likely a good amount of debate stuff + issues like that; provided that we have enough members to generate a ton of discussion.

As for highest post count, my best is 108 back in 2009-2010ish (I think I remembered to c/p stuff from the archive); yeah, I've never broke it (even when Espeon was on fire; that's probably when said post count went up).

Then again, I have over 25K posts now even without breaking said record (or I likely did, but never wrote it down).

Think current record is around 50 or something now; I have no idea now (even after patrolling CC and stuff).

-----

But yeah, a lot of the older members are coming back now.

@Cow: The good threads are probably the ones with a ton of likes/replies; probably like one of Thar's fics and some other popular stuff nowadays.

Probably some others in sections that I don't frequent much.

for me the good threads were clubs since back then, holy sheet they were active,

unfortunately mods had to ruin it by taking away post count and then ppl didnt bother posting their anymore lel,

Seems legit.

But really, if you don't mind, I'm curious what did happen with that. Why were you actually banned?

that is the reason...

they probably feeled threatened or something

That always seemed like a stupid decision to me. I know clubs were a bit more spammy but they were still part of the forum, and did people really care too much about post count when you got past the magic 5000?

If it had always been like that I'd have less than 1000 posts I reckon XD

Also, are you the same Dog King who got me banned for ripping? xD

I wasn't around during 2012, especially not with mod powers, so I had nothing to do with shutting off post count in Clubs.

Probably a convo about that decision in the mod forum if I can be bothered to look it up.

1. Yeah, clubs were a bit spammy but a few were legitimately active + posted real content.

I would suppose that the staff during 2012-2013 (whenever it happened, since I was gone during that period) didn't want to keep patrolling clubs to figure out what actually had spam content and what didn't.

As for people caring about post count after 5,000; well now that we have a new Level 7 rank, yeah people do.

You probably noticed after you posted that you have a 7th star (which is how much YCMaker himself had during the MyBB days).

That got implemented a little while after I got promoted.

With that 7th star comes a lot of privileges that were currently unavailable before, such as evading the swear filters + some other stuff.

I think there was something about adding a Level 8, but the idea got scrapped last time I checked.

Probably would've been at 20K or something.

2. I'd probably be under the 18-20K mark in terms of post count if clubs indeed had its post count stripped from the get-go.

Espeon and a lot of other clubs are partially responsible for a chunk of my post count so far (although that would apply to a lot of the other guys here also).

If Games/Miscellaneous and other stuff counted towards post count, I'd likely have 26-28K by now, which is quite a bit.

3. This is the same Dog King from the past, so probably yes.

1. I didn't even realise I had an extra star XD Is that for more than 10,000 posts then?

2. I pretty much only posted in clubs so I'm glad the rule wasn't implemented back then. I'm still page three of the highest post count members which Is nice.

3. Growl... D:

Would like to point out I've been posting regularly for a couple years now and I have less than 5000, and I like it better this way. To me it feels better to watch the numbers grow this way than to see it shoot up like crazy in part from spammy stuff.

Not that it isn't fun to do spammy things too :3

You would've also had a blue member group (Legendary Member) on the list; same color as the one you have now, but non-bolded and no sparkles.

But yes, the Level 7 rank is for those of you who've made it into the 5-digit post count range (or 10,000 and onward).

A good amount of members wanted it, so it was added (and thus a new group/rank was born).

It's a good idea. I'm sad my Sakura's Guard group is now blue with red sparkles though. Before it was the same as the mods and I looked like I was a mod on the member list at the bottom of the forum xD I understand why the colour was changed though.

It was navy blue initially (but boldness + sparkles existed), although it didn't look appealing, so got changed to regular blue.

Also the name got changed a bit [doesn't have my name on it anymore], but that's another story.

Although yeah, I did find the convo about when C&O got post count shut off.

Dates to around 2012-ish, so yeah that was how things were like until Rai reinstated post count.

----

But anyway, there are still a lot of people from the old days we knew who are now gone or relatively inactive.
